Just trying to reassure myself outloud.
-
Well, top end being it costs a lot :-p. Nothing is wrong with using an ED amp. I know I wouldn't, and I know my reasons for not wanting to do so. Odds are, it'll never give him a problem.
-
Plus he is using an ED amp :-p

Single 12 on 1200 RMS in a sealed box doing hair tricks with windows up? Lost all credibility right there.
-
About how much airspace will an RL-p take up if inverted? Is it basically ZERO (less than .05) or is something measurable? Thinking of inverting these babies, box design pends this question.

RL-p 15 Displacement When Inverted
cougarballa2k5 replied to cougarballa2k5's topic in SoundSplinter
My bad man :-D, yup both are here and look fine. Though I scrated the cone on of them, :(. Would there be any safe way of taking off the black paint and having the polished aluminum? -
RL-p 15 Displacement When Inverted

I like being super exact :( -
:-D. Sucks I have to wait over a week to hear the setup finalized and how I want it. Soooooo friggin ready. Really, I could build the box and slang it all in a buddy's car. He has 4kw on tap :-D:-D:-D:-D

Well, the 15s will be here yesterday and I haven't built a box yet. I've got a 4.8 cube NET @ 31hz box that was for my atlas 15...I was thinking of using it w/ one of the rl-p and running it at 500 rms since that is all I have available at the time. How do the RL-ps react to a too big box? Will it be alright sounding or should I not even go through the trouble of rigging it up?? (Rigging it up consists of switching some amps around b/c I don't have an amp for the subs, I'd have to use my SoundStream which on the highs right now, then take my xtant 1.1i and bridge the fronts into 1 channel) Max fudge around time of 2 hours, but j/w if it'll wang at all.
-
Got one of em :-D, said the other could be on another truck, and I know one comes at like noon and one at 6 - 8. So, I better get that other tonight or I'll cry :-p. TEST RESULTS ARE IN!!! 1 RLP 15 400 RMS 4.75 Cubes NET @ 32hz 55in^2 Port Area Pretty dang loud, its all in the back of my sister's Saturn VUE right now. Her roof flexes enough to launch a water bottle and toss quarters 3 inches in the air. Its not that great of an SPL vehicle, it just doesn't get loud. I've tested just about everything I've had in my car, in hers as well. Let me say, based on those experiences -- I have high, high hopes for these RL-ps :-D

Alright. My soundstream is rated 100 x 2 @ 4 Ohms 250 x 2 @ 2 Ohms 250 x 2 @ 1 Ohms 500 x 1 @ 4 Ohm Bridged 500 x 1 @ 2 Ohm Bridged. Now, apparently it can run with the comps doing 100 x 2 @ 4 Ohms, AND have the 500x1 @ 2 ohm bridged at the same time. Tech guys says yes it will still get 500 to the sub and 100 to each speaker. Just seemed like it wouldn't deliver all that power IMO...but maybe he is right. Only problem is I can only use the high pass filter in that mode, so I will need a coil in line with the woofer to take out those oogly highs. Either that or leave it playin everything, which duh will sound nasty. So, any ideas are appreciated....right now its looking chitty and I'll have to wait until like the end of next week to have an amplifier :(, let alone a proper box.
-
Well, I do have a little tiny pioneer amp I could hook to the fronts. Or I could run my soundstream in tri-mode. Supposedly it does that or some chit.
-
Its temporary, and why would it be a big deal? I just wouldn't have the ability for music to fade or anything. It may sound strange on some stuff though....but shouldn't be horrid or anything. Jelly, that other $$ is soon to be there man. I ran into a buncha drama I'd rather not speak of, but gimme a day or two 'preciate it. Mike, I'm gonna go ahead and try it :-p, and I'll be sure to report back.

My RL-p box sucked, now it's in a better home with

At first, this thread scared me b/c I had just bought those two 15s from jellyfish. After reading the entire thread, my worries have been eased. This reminds me of kryptonitewhite over on SIN. Use some common sense man. That driver isn't bottoming out, I imagine you are clipping it something nasty. I've run into the exact same problem with a 12" RF HE on 200 RMS. In .85 cubes net it was making a stupid bad sound and just not getting loud. I didn't have time to switch a new box, because it is my friend's car. But I am about 100% sure its a box problem. -
I had a lot of email correspondance with him and he was VERY helpful and prompt with his replys. Sadly my install went in another direction, but in the end I'm sure I'll visit him sometime or another to purchase an amp. I'm personally waiting on the megalith. That should be fun :-D.
-
^ Thats probably what I'll end up doing, just a little lower, like 33hz because I like my lows :-D
-
Okay, so my friend just got his ava 18 installed and its purdy loud, I've liked what I've listened to so far. Its on about 1000/1200 RMS. My question is, to get louder should I.... Get an MT 15 ported on 3krms or Get two Rl-p 15s ported on 2krms Also, its pretty much a given that either of those would be louder than his 18...wouldn't ya say? Propsed box for the Rl-P 15s is a true CRX style box, two chambers, subs up, ports back, 2 4" aeros per chamber, 3 cubes net each tuned to 34hz I dunno, when I think Dual 15s CRX style in a hatch...I think LOUD. Thoughts/opinion/ramblings. Just respond...I'm tired...intoxicated, and about to pass out. Yet I still post...YOUR TURN
-
I really just need some gut wrenching gurantee that these babies will be loud enough. I know thats hard to give, but I hate to spend all this money and get too disappointed. My loudest system was 6 RE8s ported, around a 142 legal. I'm considering using a Modded MTX1501D on these subs instead of an Opti2000D. ~700 RMS per sub is enough to get them LOUD like I want right? chit, I should just spend the money and STFU

Messed around with the box design some more. How does 3.2 Cubes NET @ 32.6hz per 15 sound???
-
I think that is basically the amp I'm getting. Zed lists it as a USA2200, and the only 2200 listed on USAcoustic's website is the USA2200F (No longer in production) How much is it rated for, and how much do you wager it was doing?? I'm getting a great deal on em both!
-
I actually will have around 600 RMS from an old school US2200 made by Zed Audio. Box wise, 4.5 cubes is pretty good right?? I'm actually thinking of lowering my tuning to 30hz, since it is an ABC I don't need the extension help of a 33hz tuning. I think it should be a fairly good output increase. I'm looking for something noticeable, like 2+dB on music across the frequency range. I see it as possible...especially since I've got 600 RMS instead of only 400. The atlas can't even take advantage of all 600. -Alex

Why isn't the cell phone in the vid jumpin around
-
Your subs used to be like 3xx shipped, the website says 5xx shipped. When did that happen? Are the new mags going to be towards that 5xx or 3xx? -Alex

New SI 12 has left for demoing

Dude I'm seriously like, almost crying b/c I didn't get the chance to hear that thing . Mothers are -
Very sadly we didn't get a chance to meet up, I had some issues w/ my mother I had to get taken care of that arose saturday. I apologize Nick -- hopefully I can hear one and give it a great review around the net once the go into production. I'll be in the market to upgrade right around then. -Alex
