yeah something like that, just built into the front of a bar what drivers are you using there and did you make your own crossovers or not?

And these would just be ran off of an old Kenwood Receiver I have lying around, about 60 watts per channel. A concern also is the woofers bottoming out since it will be an open baffle alignment and we will listen to anything from rock to some sick bassy dubstep.

Winona, MN, where I live is supposed to be a pretty haunted town. Winona is a pretty Catholic town and a lot of the stories have to do with priests. There have been priest murdered and priest suicides. I guess some crazy shit goes down there. This is a Link about some dorms at Winona State University Unexplained Research - Legends and Myths of Winona This is a CRAZY one too with one priest murdered and another shot and almost killed at the Altar. This Famous around here, and ranked the second most haunted place in MN right after the First Ave. Nightclub. They have done research on the phenomenas and never had any explanations. Pretty weird if you ask me. http://www.strangeusa.com/ViewLocation.aspx?locationid=57743

8" mid-bass drivers to keep up with xcon

But seriously, you should be able to accomplish what you want with simple crossover adjustment. Or the other Idea I liked was to go sealed. Problem solved -
8" mid-bass drivers to keep up with xcon

Yes. How much depends on the vehicle. I've seen two cars that fit 8" speakers factory, Mazda RX-8s and newer Corvettes with factory BLOSE. -
Go to a shop and listen to what you like and make sure to amp your front stage, it makes a world of difference. I'd even suggest going with cheaper speakers and doing sound deadening and an amp. You'll be amazed how good a mediocre set of speakers can sound in a well damped door. I know those blazers have a really cheesy plastic spacer to bump the speaker out to avoid the window tracks. Cut out some rings and use those as opposed to the plastic spacer and that'll help too. The best way to pick out speakers is to listen and find what's good to your ear. And I'd recommend just buying one nice set of speakers for the fronts and leaving the rears factory or ditching them altogether. How often are you in your backseat?

Alpine Head Units
todd.brust replied to BanginGMC's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'd like to see Alpine do some audio processing again, but judging by how they have geared their products in later years, I find it doubtful. -

I would go with the 305s No doubt. I have messed with both in the store I like navigating on the 305s better. You can see more artists at once when scrolling, like you have 3 lines of texts vs. 1 with the 303. I also do like the Kenwood KIV-BT900 or KIV-700 too. -
Welcome and nice set up. Looks like a very nice install. Did you do most yourself?

Dang! how big is the boat?
-
I don't think I've seen any boats on here yet, so I decided to take a few pictures of a customer boat I did at work today. It's still in progress. He have 2 10" Kenwood Sub, one in each compartment in fron and 2 Kenwood Coax speakers in the back. There are 2 more sets going in the front in the walk through or under the benches. All powered by the New Kenwood XR5s 5 channel amp and an Excelon Deck. This thing ROCKS! it's loud and definitely a beach party boat. It has been party proofed so no drunk people fry everything! Heres some Pictures. Even with a Set of 6.5 Coax speakers, this thing gets loud! The customer remove all the carpet and the seats for our convenience so it's a little dirty. And to Did I mention that I hate cutting fiberglass? I'm still itchin.

That's what I'm talking about! We haven't done an overhaul quite that serious but I'd be curious. Boats are so much fun. They aren't your everyday install and they usually just ROCK! What kind of speakers were they? When money isn't an option, we usually will do JL Audio 7.7" speakers. Those things are great for boats
-
Some amps run hot under normal operating conditions. You could almost fry and egg on the old style Rockford amps and that was normal for them.
-
I'm the least experience installer so I don't go to work on the big projects yet. We do some insane install on high end boats. Like were talking 5 sets of JL 7.7" Marines plus subs and everything on like $150,000 boats. If you look though here, youll see some of the boats we've worked on. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/album.php?aid=101898&id=119485436811&ref=mf

Ditch the line driver. My guess is that your overdrove your amp and clipped the hell out of your sub. How did you have the setting on the amp and line driver? Like Gains Crossovers and bass boost?

Our Focal rep has a set Well of course he does lol How nice is it? Haven't heard it yet. Hopefully at the end of the month at our Competition. Last year he had the Kevlar 3 ways and it sounded amazing. All active processing, and he did an amazing job with the install.

We sell Focal at the store I work at and their speakers blow away the competition. The Polyglass v30s are one of the best sounding passive comp sets I've heard. And the Utopias are very expensive yes, but the also allow for the most flexibility for an out of the box component set, and their quality control is top notch. I couldn't justify the price of some of their stuff but they are good no matter what.

Possible to run iPod from Factory Deck
todd.brust replied to bimmerboy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
FM Modulator or get an aftermarket Head Unit. I vote aftermarket. The dash kit and Harnesses are relatively cheap and you can get a quality radio that will do iPod for a $150 from a retailer, and even cheaper online. Aftermarket always beats the shit out of stock. The only time I wouldn't go aftermarket is in new vehicles where the dashes are so complex it doen't pay to, but you can! -
Ever wonder what clipping really does??
todd.brust replied to 95Honda's topic in Advanced Discussion
Clipping will happen when you overdrive the output on a source unit. A rule of thumb I've heard is 80% of the volume potential but the only way to tell for sure would be to use an oscope and see for sure. -
