Imprint does sound pretty cool.. I just didn't want to have to up front throw down another 500 bucks to use the active xover feature. Thanks for the personal experience though, it's helpfull to have that. I don't know of any shop in MN that would help me out with that imprint feature, and I refuse to pay what the local shops ask for in alpine prices. I live in MN and there are no good deals going on here anywhere. I can find the 9887 for over 300 bucks less online and no tax or shipping, no one would even negotiate on that specific unit. If there was a local trust worthy small shop I would check it out I try to suport local tallent, but all we have are big box stores with jack asses working there. The only nice guy I met had his hands tied wish a 25 dollar rebate intill christmass season. Thanks for all the help guys, if anyone knows of another HU that out of the box is set up to run active Xovers let me know. I liked the look of the alpine and it seams to get good reviews but the menue system really sucked when I tried it.. but I supose I woudl get used to it. i'm am from MN...where in MN are you...if you are looking for a shop...Audio Designs in winona carries the 9887 and i think they have it listed at 400...plus the 9887 also has a graphic or parametric eq, ipod interface, good processing the active x-over, and who knows what else...it's a hell of a deal for a HU either way...PM me and i could talk to someone at the shop...i have a few friends over there WHAAAAT swetness. I'm in MPLS PMing you my man. sounds good...mpls isn't too far from winona...maybe 2 or 2.5 hours...depends how you drive

eclipse has some i am sure...i know those alpine 9887 have the Imprint feature...which is a technology that will basically equlize your outputs to make a flat in vehicle response....alpine dealers should have the imprint unit to set this up....basically they will set up a mic in the drivers listening position, and this measures the response of the vehicle, then the computer inversely(not sure how else to say it) eqalizes the signal vs. the vehicles response making a near flat response... and it also does time corection.... then you cna fine tune it from there also my shop did it and from what i am told...actually sounds very good...i was considering picking one of these up, up until i realized i am about 1220 in debt! but you could definetely run a full active front stage and make it sound really good, with or without using imprint...just a lot of tweaking

i think that this question will mostly be aimed at Scott....i recently purchased a "damaged" brahma mark II 12"(i think, no idea which is which but i am tol the mark II) that wasn't damaged at all really...just had to fix a bad glue joint and it works perfect now... 30 bucks and a 2 dollar tube of adhesive isn't too bad, but for my real question i bought it with the intentions of re-coning it to an 18" Fi Brahma Hybrid of some sort.... i was wondering if it could be done...or has it been done? i was thinking a dual 2 ohm coil with at least 1100 watts power handling... i still want to retain good sound quality also...not sure if i would want to do it ported or sealed though... just looking for ideas and a price possibility and another side question.....the brahma that i have had a re-cone done on it right before adire closed its doors....probably one of the last re-cones, but with the re-cone would the speaker keep the same t/s parameters or would they change because of different soft parts coils etc...?

i've been waiting! i got excited when i saw this was under new posts expecting to get a response...not yet though...i honestly love my mark II...sounds great even with little power...
-
if i were you i'd just get a copy of BB6P...and design it yourself...if the guy knows what he is doing the inductance isn't really a deciding factor when designing a subwoofer enclosure....your lowpass filter will almost 99.9% of the time roll off before the inductance rolls off..that is assuming that you don't have your lowpass set at 500hz if you are designing an enclosure for a midbass in a whole speaker system, then you will want it but for what you are doing it's almost useless

anyone know where to get some plain looking heatsinks? i am building a stereo amplifier using a set of LM3886 ICs...i just need a heatsink to encase the amplifiers and the power supply any ideas?
