Yeah, part of their LE line. They have made these awesome multichannels over the years and only build a few. But it has been a while since they have done it. I doubt that we'll see any more instant classics from them. The last two owners have done a fantastic job of destroying the brand...I really need to get my Son of Frank working right... AAMP of America seems to be working hard to rebuild the brand to the days of yore. The shop I used to work for was impressed enough with their new amps to bring them back if that says anything. One of the cooler amps I've seen was the PG Reactor. I've seen on or two RF Power 1000 & 650 Mosfet amps too. I just got rid of my RF 800a2. What a power monster.

Go with Pac. They are pricey for a reason, they are a superior product.

The Q, center frequency, and boost is the same as a basscube. Just an overglorified parametric eq for subbass

If someone managed to pull that out, I'd be amazed, but good luck on the search.

Those TC PRs may be more stable. I have never used the TCs, but the PRs i had were 2+ pounds of moving mass. Give it a whirl, It will work, I just worry about the wear and tear over time on the PR.

The spider and surround are the only suspension parts I know of in a speaker . The PR will be mounted on its side of course so sagging will not be an issue. I know that PRs work in a car. They have for many years. If someone can please plug in the parameters and LMK a good box volume to start with. The big BUT is that subwoofers have a coil in a magnetic gap with power applied across the coil, which keeps the woofer very linear. Park on a hill or embankment and tell me sagging is not an issue. I had a set of Acoustic Elegance PRs and even leaning them against the wall at a slight angle made the heavy radiator shift.

PRs work great, but I just don't think they belong in a car. There isn't any suspension to them besides the spiders and surround, and on top of that, the mass of those is so great that their weight carries the way the car shifts. If you are hitting bumps, the weight of the moving mass is going to transfer and move unlinear and stretch the suspension in ways it is not supposed to. And those same things that could go on with PRs in a car will cause odd distortion when the cone moved like that. I hate to break it to ya, but I think you'd be best sacrificing or making space for a ported box. Just my $0.02

JL amps are top notch, and if you only plan on doing fronts, I'd say go for it.

Get BassBox or some modeling software and play around with some enclosures. WinISD does passive radiators IIRC. Is this going to be for use in a vehicle?

Did you shop all the wires are one when removing the old harness. I've seen that done quite a few times and people end up just blowing fuses. Get a DMM and check for Memory and ACC power. If those are all fine, check resistance in your speaker leads and make sure nothing is shorting out. If all that is fine, you may have gotten a DOA headunit. Rare but I've seen it happen, and it really messes with your day.

That is in fact a protection feature of the crossover. Some Pro Audio speakers use them and when you are overpowering a specific component, like a tweeter, and those just those eliminate the extra power and gives it off as heat and light. We had a set of JBLs for a party and they did that all night long with no problems. The guy who owned all the stuff says they do that whenever he uses them. Might be a sign of abuse.

Well let's see, when you have a good thing why mess with it. You may not be old enough but I remember when Coca Cola reformulated it's recipe and changed the taste, it lasted all of 6 months. After many complaints that switched back to their old formula. I can't see Jacob messing with the success that he's having right now. Most of the time when companies trade customer service for larger profits they lose sight of what customers really want. Most of your mainstream companies have done just that. I have owned at least (2) 12's from almost every mainstream company you could name. I was very impressed with not only what I saw and heard from Sundown Audio, but I was more impressed with what people had to say about Sundown Audio. So when I laugh, it's because I can. When Sundown becomes mainstream, as long as Jacob continues to do what he's doing now, I have no reason to laugh at him or his company. If you don't think every business owner doesn't want exactly that, you fucking nuts. Thats the name of the game and ever company is in pursuit of that. Anyone who says otherwise is a fucking liar. That is done by producing more and selling more and/or cutting corners. You can't produce a top quality product at Wal Mart prices, but you can make a good product that can be sold for a good price, a cheaply made product for cheap prices, and a top quality product for top dollar prices. And who says they have all sacrificed customer service or quality of product? Maybe some have but with all the brands we carry, do not. Exceptional customer service actually since we are a dealer and deal with different manufacturers directly on a daily basis. And we do that so the customer doesn't have to. They walk in, get product swapped same day , and leave, unless it's completely customer abuse, and even then we can get customers taken care of usually. We carry Sundown, Alpine, Kenwood and their Excelon line, Orion, Alumapro, JL Audio, and an assortment of other brands for different things. No lack of service and their products are geared for different scenarios and budgets. You make cheaper products to appeal to people with small budgets. To make thing as cheap as they are, you have to sacrifice something. You can't sell a JL 1000/1 amplifier for 299.99 because they'd lose money just because of the cost to design, patent technologies, produce and advertise.

Would there be any problem running a 3" aeroport external for the Sa-8's? Each would be in it's own enclosure. i just don't have the room for the length of a 4" port. I think you'll be more than fine.

Because SA-8's are monsters they don't fit...lol But the Type R shallows seem good too My bad. The only experience I have had with shallow mounts are those JL and some POS Earthquakes. Alpine has proven itself to put out good quality products for years so it would be no surprise that the shallow mounts would be good.
