    Recone for a brahma please?

I got the Xj-15 back when it came out and I installed it in a less than optimal box according to everyone on CSO at the time, however I think it sounds fine, however I'm also deaf, and the box isn't big enough for a proposed 18brahma with a stiff Qts I put it in a ported box tuned below 30hz (forgot the tuning) just a normal ported box with a decent sized MDF vent, prolly one of the least drastic boxes I've ever built. Plus it's not big enough to cut out the hole bigger for an 18 inch sub. oh yeah, i still need a real home sub amp, right now I'm running a 30 amp ac-to-dc converter to an old car amp to run the sub off a kenwood reciever's rca outputs/// surprisingly, the gains needed to be LOW on the car audio amp. oh damn i completely misunderstood...when you said xj-15...i thought you mean like a Jaguar car...lol i get it now...i'd scrap the 15" sub and put the brahma inside...i don't think that fiberglass box would work well...you'd have way to high of a peak with a high qts speaker, i would guess.... Scrap the xj and replace with brahma...i still would like to see the predicted brahma specs...just so i could model it out and see how it would perform in a huge IB enclosure...like 20 cu. ft. depending on the Vas numbers and how high the qts is btw i think i am going deaf too...that's why my brahma will probably only be running 300 watts when i get it working again...and if i ever re-cone it to an 18" it will be inside and i'll have an even less extreme sub in my car chit i am running a 6w0 in my back dash...and i am almost satisfied with that.....almost...lol except some god damn rattling...i have to remove the stock sub amp because i am pretty sure that's what is making the rattles.... wow completely OT sorry, my ADD got the best of me...i should try some ritalin or aderal or whatever you call it lol

    MINI Cooper Wall Worklog

lol i just read through this whole thing and this ending all makes sense...oh well BTW i saw Fryman mentions...was here at one point also? i remember him form CSO then he kind of disappeared
  5. DAMN! those are a little spends...lol 360 in mids alone.... as i always say, i can't wait to see a build log...but with this one..i am more than excited
  6. yeah those tweets look like they will work good with just about any of the speakers mentioned above... how much are the nextels though? i am not sure that i was looking at the right ones... ps i know......lol

    Recone for a brahma please?

800 watts on the MT...LOL HAHAHAHAHA sorry i had to say something...but that might be a box too small for a high Qts driver...but i'll agree on the 18" in home...i kind of want to do the same with my brahma and run it IB(might be a huge enclosure)... replace the dahlquist sub and get the brahma on it's own power....i don't watch many movies on the home set up...just music but when did you get an XJ-15? i never remember seeing that....lol just the santa fe...how is that acoustic visions sub anyways? i wanted to pick one of those up but never had the money(what else is new) did you just do a big ported box or run it IB?

    Tinsel Slap?

i had a similar problem with my brahma...it was a scratchy squeek...lol if that makes sense...my problem was a glue failure at the triple joint...mine wasn't bad so i was able to repair it... you could have a similar problem or it could be tinsel slap...i've seen a lot of high excusion subwoofers ues the felt pads...maybe if you have tinsel slap, you could put those on...or like flakko said...turn the gains down a bit and resist your urge to bump
  11. i wish i had some input on these speakers, but never used them.... but just out of curiosity, what are you using as your active Eq? and what will you use as a crossover point for either or both the combinations? but i just took a look at the products mentions above...i'll agree with ///M5.....that tweeter looks like it would work great...i has a low Fs so it would be easy to cross over at a low frequency i have never really messed around with active but would like to...///M5, what would you suggest as a crossover point for the Ls with the Peerless HDS tweeter...just a starting point...because i know there is allways tweaking that goies into an active set-up

that's a great price...the local shop here would probably charge more than that without carpet... just watch out let's see a build log when you start putting it all together

    Recone for a brahma please?

wait what? i thought you were going to the the Brahma 18 in vehicle....did you keep the MT or are you eliminating your 18" in vehicle subwoofer?

    NEED SOME OPINIONS

Type X's CAN get loud but as stated before they are more SQ oriented..... as for the AudioPulse...probably great stuff, but what SEC is looking for...going to be way out of his pricerange...
  15. todd.brust

    some good component speakers

agreed...easy project and saves you $40+ an hour labor

    Recone for a brahma please?

oh...i get it...i have problems picking up sarcasm in text and the driver we speak of is called the jackhammer..and it will handle 30K watts if you could find an amp capable lol

i would probably go ported then...probably like 2 cut ft. tuned to 30hz would be good based on the available specs...

    Recone for a brahma please?

xbl^2 is a motor technology...not a coil technology...xbl^2 is split gap... maybe you are thinking about the split coil or LMT coil for more information please visit http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...ic=9421&hl= lol

depends what you want...are you interested at being loud, or have it just sound good? or both?
  20. todd.brust

how ridiculous can some ppls be?

    lol what a bastard...
  21. todd.brust

    What would you chose?

the Bls are pretty damn loud...and they sound decent...as for power, you can feed them a fair amount of power and not have worries...but i don't think you will need 2000 watts to get full potential out of it...i'd say 1200 to 1500 would be good...my buddy has an 18" BL and that pucker POUNDS with a jbl 1200....but those amps were underrated too
  22. todd.brust

got my badly conditioned 18" xxx today :D

wow that's almost as dirty as your mother...lol so are you going to do the re-cone yourself or have RE do it?....damn i miss when RE was more like Fi...when i could buy 2 12" SEs for 250 bucks

you have me more than beat...you are starting with components! i had stock fronts and chitty 6x9s...lol i'd say you are off to more than a good start...especially with the yellowtop, that will leave a good amount of room for upgrading, but i am not really sure about the eclipse? i have never heard one or heard of one...let us know how it is
