Low Bass Missing
todd.brust replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
those stock units suck so bad...my buddy spent all this money on a nice stereo in his LS and the bass isn't what it should be one of my buddies has an RX-8 and he ended up getting a JL Audio Cleansweep for signal processing and does not lack i nthe low end whatsoever i'd do an aftermarket HU but if that isn't a choice, i'd suggest an OEM integration like the Cleansweep or RF 3Sixty, although the downside to the cleansweep is that if you use it, you have to amp everything...highs and lows...not sure about the 3sixty though -
the basic installer book is a joke x2

from my experience, compustars are no where near the quality of a viper or DEI product...i had to install a compustar alarm and it wouldn't work! the range was horrible and the shock sensor didn't even work out of the box....but then again i have heard their high end stuff is great so i'd assume Kickins would be prettty kick ass... personally i love the viper's or DEIs.... no matter what you go with, let us know how it turns out... and yes helotaxi, i am lazy...i hate the cold more than anything

apples or oranges....the fi 10"
todd.brust replied to Jonny Hotnuts's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i would say the Q would be a good for what i think you want and as far as i know...if you break your sub, Fi can sell you a Re-cone kit....from what i've seen maybe around 80-90 for the at home kit...but if your speaker is covered under warranty, it'd be better to send it in...but Fi is some Tough stuff -
welcome to SSA i think you have come to the right place...lots of high quality made in the usa products and support:) sweet car by the way! how fast does it go?

100% of the time, solder all the ignition and heavy duty wire....you have no idea how chitty it looks when someone tries to use t-taps on ignition cables if you want to save time, you could t-tap most of the connections, but you risk bad connections....over time the connections could oxidise and not be functioning...and i have seen way too many times people use t-taps that are too big for the wire, please, if you do use t-taps, use the right size but if you are going to take the time to put in an alarm/remote star...just do it right the first time....i soldered everything except two connections that we not possible to reach with a solder gun and take your time and run your wires clean...it looks better and will help you troubleshoot anything easier if it doesn't work right not many ways to cut corners here

Alpine CDA-9885 or 9887?
todd.brust replied to ThiZzNation's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
x2 if you want a cd player for powering speakers, the 9885 would be better...simpler and less expensive if you want to run a full active system is lots of flexablitlity(and have the money and ambition), get the 9887 -

Ever wonder Why Fi has ther subs names like they do?
todd.brust replied to Godsmack's topic in General Fi
i would say work well worth the payout though -
Fi an RE have their similarities...but are two different companies....i would chose Fi over RE now...from what i have heard is that REs quality is not what it used to be ever since being comercialized...i cannot confirm that first hand but heard

i vote sealed...even though the Q sounds very good ported, i've always enjoyed any good subwoofer sealed
