600 watt amp for comps?! Are you talking about 600 watts and 1000 watts peak or continuous power? I can't give you a definite answer, but i can tell you that changing your battery to a high quality deep cycle would put less strain on your electrical system. The big 3 would be a good starting point. I would suggest doing that whether you need a battery or not.

Alumapro huh? I had a set of Alumapro 10" subs, and i loved them! Alumapro makes a quality product. The local shop reps them and I almost picked up a set of their 6.5" Comp sets before i decided on the XRs. I can't wait to see this project come along! Glad to hear you will be going active!

Nice little write up. The stock JBL in some of the Lincolns isn't bad stuff. The JBL sound system in my Town Car was surprisingly good by my standards for a stock stereo. The cutouts were for a 5x7 but was basically a 5.25 and a tweeter enclosed in some kind of plastic shell. I have a few quick questions, when you say "Use the stock amp (if not, aftermarket)" do you mean the factory JBL or the HU amp? And Secondly, what do you plan to run for your front stage? Active please?

Jealousy is the only word to describe what i am feeling now, but you have some skills! Keep up the good work!

i am guessing passive radiators oh yeah, i'll be third to say mixing subs is bad

i love the 1/0 welding cable...what's the price difference from regular car cable to that welding wire? and how flexible is that stuff? looking good though..

it's hard to say what is better....it is always install dependent...but in response to the OP i would take the Q15 over the T2...cheaper and will do just as good in terms of output and probably better in SQ imho...as for the w7...it's in a completely different league...all of what you named are great speakers...but the Q is much cheaper than both and like i said will do just as good as both the T2 and w7

no i'm serious...i honestly have not seen anyone do a full active system with the 9887...the local shop sells them like hot cakes but to my knowledge, they have never done an active install...and i don't recall seeing any 9887 installs on here but i don't read through everything here though -

cool deck...i heard the imprint is pretty cool stuff...never got to experience it for myself...the local shop here has an the imprint module and have used it on a few installs... but i say go active too....i haven't seen anyone do it with the 9887... -
i've had experience with all except the Soundsplinter...well not the BL in 10s but the SX and BL are loud! and will sound decent doing it also...if you are looking more towards sound quality vs. more spl...i'd say the SEs...but the soundsplinters are suppose to sound good also... The SEs are probably my favorite sub i've heard or owned second to my brahma of course

i'll agree with buying a drink then starting conversation...it's a good start it all depends what you are looking for though...if you want a straight up one night stand, i say use the line until it works...it's bound to work with the right girl... but do you really want to spend a night next to a girl who will fall for that??? chances are, if she falls for that, she's fallen for worse pick up lines or is a complete nympho who is after the same thing you might be.... IMHO, i'd say, be a gentleman and buy the lady a drink and see where it takes you...just nice friendly conversation works believe it or not!

the space is no option! i've seen the BL in the Camry...hayes and i damn near had to force that beast in there go for the icons hayes...you know you want to

sounds good...i'll get on the forum and see if john has any available for me when i get tax returns
-
alright here's the deal...i have a set of older scott speaker....i want a little better low end so i was thinking about just doing a sub...more specifically and IB.....i was leaning towards and IB15 from AE speakers...but my question is that in another thread someone mentioned using mulitples of 2 drivers opposing each other...why? and i kind of wanted a more general idea of what advantages IB has sound wise
-
lol i could make a hell of an enclosure with that but i want something that is purely for good sound....not loud and the IB15s looked like an awesome sub for only 130 bucks...hard to beat a quality driver like that for the price... i really want to do a big IB enclosure but everything i though about IBs changed as of today the thought actually went through my head use my closet! lol the characteristics of an IB really appeal to me....any other ideas? i was only planning on spending 130 for that AE and maybe 150 on a plate amp so it's a really tight budget with all my other projects going on at the same time...John has some other drivers there...i guess i just really want an AE sub but not much to work with...
-
damnit....i was hoping i could do it that way.....but i understand by what you mean when you say the bigger it is the less coloration....how about a Dipole with this woofer?
-
i think i actually have a bunch of those files/articles on my home computer....all the ones that were available when i DL's them
-
damnit...i modeled the IB15 in a 16 cu ft. sealed enclosure on BBP6 and it looked really really good...very flat, no peaks or dips and a very mellow roll off with an -3db point right around 20 hz it doesn't model much different from having 160 cu ft of airspace at all...a slightly lower f3 could i just do the IB15 in a big sealed enclosure and still benefit from the advantages of an IB install? but Robert...seriously? sounds like you will have a bangin' sub set up when you are done! i hope to see a build from you in the near future!
