Icon pre-recone finshing work opinions?????
todd.brust replied to pherz1er's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Do it. It looks good. I think AE does that with their baskets too. -
Looks like it is going good. Where did you get the Bash 500? And how much. I have everything I need for my HT sub except a plate amp. And does it have a Subsonic filter? Good luck with the rest and let us know how it turns out.

Dude, that is soooo true. A local shop fried my ED Audio NiNe.1 amp. I bought the wrong voice coil Kicker CVX 12s for the amp. So they wired it at 4 ohms and had the bass boost and gain turned up all the way and like an idiot I believed them that there was something wrong with the NiNe.1 and bought the GTO 1201.1 II off them, lol. I don't regret buying the amp, it's a good amp. Seems like most of the shops around here are shady. That sounds shady. Just get your gains conservatively and you will be fine. Just listen for any distortion and if you smell anything, you have your gains set way too high!

TC sounds/Audiopulse have since filed for bankruptcy. No idea if they will be back.

I've heard about this before. The Mayan calendar doesn't actually end on 12/21/12, it is the end of the 12th baktun and then the 13th will begin. I've heard this date is suppose to be some sort of "spiritual awakening". For such a catostrophic event, it wasn't mentioned much in any Mayan writings. I found the Zeitgeist movie to be much more of a mind fudge. I'd suggest checking that out. Whether you believe it or not, it is still entertaining to watch.

Really hard to say. I'd say the Magnum handles smaller enclosures a little more readily than the Icon does, but given enough space or an IB setup, it's right up there Honestly, if you're looking to get the biggest improvements I'd worry less about the subwoofer, ditch the 6x9's and work on the front stage X2 A nice set of component speakers up front will make a world of difference. Better midrange and midbass will be much more satisfying for Jazz, R&B, and Soul IMHO. Most people do stuff ass backwards. Get the sub, then everything else. I'm guilty of it too.

Well ain't that a bitch! Some how me and a friend managed to fit an enclosure for an 18" BL in the trunk of an Accord. Is there any possible way of taking trim pieces off to make it fit? Or even taking out the spare tire and using the extra space to get it in?

Not to hi-jack the thread, but what is a good program to model crossovers? I know LEAP is a standard but a little on the spendy side and a little overkill for anything I may ever do. As for the the question on hand, Stick with a two way for your first project for ease of design. And a two way will be much easier to change if need be. I have not seen too many speakers that expand more than a 3 way. A few old Sansui and other japanese brands doing 4 ways and of course my DQ-10s doing a 5 way

Whoa. I thought I loaded the wrong page at first. It's new. I'll give it a try.

I'll agree on price being high, however the customer service at JL is more than exceptional. I had a problem with my XRs that were clearly my fault and my dealer sent the XRs to JL and they were fixed for free. Everyone else I have known to have had problems with anything JL have had their problems adressed from either their dealer or JL. And they local dealer sells a lot of JL Audio product.

In the right enclosure and install, the Ascendants will sound just as good and get just as loud as the w7 depending on what size Havoc you are talking. Just to answer your question.

I love the Wii! And Rock Band. It makes me feel like I actually have some musical talent. In reality it's still a video game.

Just out of curiosity, where did you read those posts?

I'd have to agree. Carlin was a truly great comedian and I don't think anyone can ever compare.

Just out of curiosity, where did are you buying an elite from? Ported would be the way to go like KU said, but I don't know if it will induce blurred vision or shortness of breath.

I can't do anything right

You beat me to it KU!

The Three Knobs by the EQ section os for the parametric EQ. To change the X-over frequency, you will have to use the frequency adujustment that adjusts from 30 to 200. Lower that a bit. And if it is too peaky, you can also use the parametric to your advantage. You can cut adjust the frequency on the EQ to the point where it peaks and then lower the level adjustment. The bandwidth determins how much around the center frequency is cut or boosted so you may have to play around with that a bit. You could also do the opposite of what i said and boost the bottom end so that the low end has as much output as where it peaks. But be careful when EQing the low end because if you boost too much on the low end too much you risk reaching mechanical limits of the speaker. I'd just the peak and use the gain to get the desirable output. I hope that makes sense. I Ramble on sometimes.

I can't seem to find any Info on it. Is it a 5.1 or similar set up? I am personally a fan of the newer Harman Kardon stuff but I don't know much about home theatre.

I was waiting for you to comment. The first thing I thought of when i saw this thread was those Altecs you posted a while back.

Looks like the kitchen floor at my new place......with flower wall paper. Lol Orange '70's vinyl deserves a avacodo color refridgerator to make the perfect retro match..... People to love the 70's retro houses. My buddy had a bathroom with the green shower, toilet, and sinks. Even better the toilet was some crazy looking square designs. Someone should have told the interior decorators at the time how chitty that fad was. At least I don't have any shag carpet here .
