    Passive Radiators

Hey, now there's a thought. Two tens rear firing and an 18" firing up. I might just have to take you up on that. I wouldn't have A PR up-firing because they tend to have a good deal of weight to them and would most likely cause the suspension to sag. My 1050g PRs sag is i even lay them on their back. Also in a car, I would think the PRs would have a lot of unwanted movement from the forces from turning and bumps in the road. Just my 2 cents

    Flip up HU

Personally, I have had experience with Kenwood, Alpine and Clarion Toush screens, slip ups and in dash and I like the Alpines the best. A little spendy. I'd spend the extra money and go with a Kenwood Excelon if you can. They aren't as expensive as the Alpines (unless you guy a more expensive Kenwood), but they work well and have a good deal of features.

I kinda slowed down on skateboarding, but I love my friends, and skateboarding, so I took up skateboard photography... thanks again man For sure. I've been off the board for about a month. High ohm subwoofer?

Here it goes... At work, we have a Definitive Supercube subwoofer (awesome little things) that has been having problems. It powers up but will have little to no output. That's beside the point. I took it apart and checked the coil to see if it was open. I took my meter and it measured just under 30 ohms. We talked to the Definitive rep and he said that was right. My question is, what advantages are there to using a high impedance speaker like this? Keep the impedance spike higher in the FR range so the true sub bass isn't affected? I also figured that the plate amp would have to be designed to match the speaker also so parts cannot be properly swapped out. Just a curiosity question.

    High ohm subwoofer?

Actually, now that you say that, there isn't a large transformer at all. Since there isn't a large transformer, that also helps with the space issue, Those Def Tech Super Cubes are chitpacked full of stuff. I had to remove a PR just to connect the power amp to the pre-amp. It's actually a 650 Watt plate amp, so you'd need voltage rails sitting right around 140V. It didn't even occur to me that it was probably high voltage. I wondered why the PS caps were rated so high. I guess I was thinking more traditional like 40V rails. Duh. lol

    Zenith Stereophonic Turntable

It's being taken care of. She wanted to get it fixed. Turns out the drive unit is bad too so it is making tons of vibrations that the needle is picking up and I am sure the caps are bad also. Majority of the unit is P to P but there is one small board with the output transistors. I don't know if she will want to get the unit fioxed seeing that there is no where that I know to get parts for the drive unit. I talked to someone today and they said it's most likely some kind of rubber that is dried out on the drive unit that is causing the vibrations. He compared it to running a metal wheel on concrete.

    Zenith Stereophonic Turntable

Well at work some lady brought in an old Zenith Solid State turntable. I wasn't sure about the model number. All I found was this number(Z565W-157309) and a google search got me nothing. It works and everything but the lady said it sound "horrid". My first guess was that the electrolytic coupling caps are bad and probably those in the PS supply. Should I go ahead with replacing the larger electrolytics or does anyone have any other suggestions where to start?

Delivery drivers don't take very good care of their packages. I was watching a Fed ex driver unloading a truck at work. Alumapro sent 12" BP sub systems and the buy literally took box of that size and weight from his head and just let it fall to his feet. For something that weights 50+ lbs. that could mess stuff up.

    Zenith Stereophonic Turntable

Yeah this isn't foir myself. Some older lady brought it into the store. I was planning on doing the coupling caps and PS supply but I don't have a schematic for this and I am new to identifying circuits by just lookin at them. It's all point to point wiring but I found the coupling caps right before the output terminals and the PS cap was easy to find then there are a few other large electrolytics.

No idea about the cartridge, but it has an internal amp. The speaker outs are on the back.

    High ohm subwoofer?

It's make more sense if that was the case but it is definitely a solid state. I've seen 16 ohm taps on my Heathkit but never 32. I am almost certain that it is a class D by looking at the internals.

2 channel alternative to A/V receivers

Lol at the guinea pigs. I don't know why I thought that was funny. Your amps are always laid out so no nicely. Want to re-do some wiring in my heathkit? Can't wait to see the finished Altec!

The linc and the 22in shoes

I thought about doing some bombs on my TCr at one point to be honest, but that's when my exhaust needing replacement. I'm sure it has a nice sound to it with the bombs.

The linc and the 22in shoes

I think you can pull it off! My dad is 5' 8" maybe 9" and about 300lbs. He's a serious power lifter, mostly bench. His personal best is 615 so you get the idea, he's a big boy and he looks just fine driving my car. They are more than spacious even for the biggest guys. Take one out for a spin sometime, I guarantee you will love it!
