the 15 inch type r i believe costs more than the 18 inch hdc3 which is what im running now its only 320 shipped the 15 is probably like 300 shipped they get very loud and sound great theyre rated at 1k rms so 750 would be ok or incriminator has a great line up and my buddy sells them he has excellent prices you could look into their lethal injection series which would be great and he can probably do way under 300 for one shipped

Which sub/help!!! (IA,DD,Atomic)
wattsgoinon replied to explosivesound's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
aq hdc3 18's same as the 9500 at 1/3 of the price ive got two on a mmats 3500 and they play all day no probs and they play low. also aj is really good. hope you got plenty of room for port area though my box is 12 cubes net with the port 192sq in tuned at 38 and it plays low and loud awesomely i dont think you can ever find a better sub than that in that price range. but if you want to get low get low you could always run with the audiopulse lms ultra which they recommend you tune at 19 hz or go with their passive radiators to put the fz at 10-20 hz -
okay on the fully loaded 18 inch btl what would be: peak to peak xmax rms power handling weight and what would be a good amp to run four of them or amps. i was lookin at 2 jbl crown amps the 8k watt ones @4 ohms would that be good. or should i do one per sub. well what would the experts do. i listen to rap and thats what will be played loud and long. so what amps would you put on them-brand,series,and wattage
-
i dont think so he saise mojo 15 in the topic but yeah they do have amps too
-
ok i was lookin at the atomic extinction level event 24 inch subs and it says that they have the cone area of 3 15 inch subs so if i bought four of them would that sound as though i had 12 15 inch subs. they are 2k rms so i would have them hooked up with that. astro van so plenty of room to utilize. or are they too big. would the cones flex and through off the linearety causing the cone to flex and unwated heat and distortion to set in. or would i just be better off to go with the four fully loaded btl 18's with around 3k rms per sub. i like rap so thats what will be played through them and pretty often. please give me some feedback after viewing this thread cause i need to get these things figured out fast so i can get to orderin some subs. thanks for your time
-
oh another question what exactly are the cones made of. oh and are they pretty linear at high excursion levels. im just curious ive never heard or seen one in real life
-
so would the spectrum sludge a good choice, its is lots cheaper than the extreme
-
where can i find raamat and secondskin
-
i like low notes on rap songs and i figure that at that frequency they will be pretty loud and deep
-
oh the install will be very expensive. even though i like bass and clarity more than looks the shop im gonna take it to is 120 per hour. sound decision in montgomery by chicago. they do awesome work. thats expensive for a shop in illinois. they are even out in the boonies. if you have ever seen the stinger demo with the waterfall in the back it was them. although im not goin for that fancy crap just a wall and lots and lots of dynamat extreme. it will be tuned to 32 hz no matter what subs i go with. but flared ports is what i want to use.
-
anyone, anyone. thats why i need the specs so i can get an amp that will do it right. i also figure that it will handle more power after cooling upgrade otherwise whats the point
-
well the specs on their page are befor the upgrades isnt that why theres a * after certain specs. i mean the xmax is different after you add the high xmax coil right or the mounting depth would change after you add a third magnet right. you know just like the price changes after its fully loaded so should some key specs. im sure they dont list the upgraded specs with the flat price
-
ported or sealed?
-
dang i guess im just frantic about this cause after i buy them they are mine and i want top of the line. sorry if that sounds funny
-
oh yeah i guess i didnt read that right either. well you should never mix and match. that would sound like crap and never balance out. and the box would be way too small in that case (drop the mojo) add a btl
-
if i added an audio control epicenter on them could i get more output from them then
-
if the box is 11cubes then 1 btl would not be good too big. 2 would sound good in that size but ive heard that you can up the power on the fl btl so maybe you should try 2 4k amps and let it rip. maybe thats why you werent satisfied with the performance last time. and as for memphis im not goin to bad mouth them but i personally dont like them. they would probably blow with 4k. ive never heard of the other sub.
-
18 dd9500 fully loaded 18 atomic apxx 18 fi btl fully loaded 18 tc lms ultra or possibly the 18 dd z series what would pound the loudest daily with good deep lows and handle a lot of power too
-
i would say around 3-4K watts per sub
-
i have 4 13w7 subs right now i had one in a 7cuft enclosure tuned at 70 hz and did a 155 on a term lab. that was with 2 rf bd 1500 amps strapped together. i now have 2 in the sealed jl spec box and they sound excellant. they are the LSQ subs they play low frequencies at high volumes and still have good upper frequency response the w6's are the spl sub. by the way i am selling them just so i can get 18's the 13's are too small for my van.
-
yeah your probably right there but then what would you go with
-
if i do get the btls isnt the cone just a cheap paper one or can you upgrade them too and what about the dust cap they dont really mention much about either
-
what would be a good amp for them? one that would stay cool and high in the watts.
