    what size sub is optimal

good i would definately appreciate that once i've decided on the sub. if any of you have had experience with both the q and rl-p, what are the noticeable differences between them? i need to keep in mind that i may be moving to a car with a smaller trunk.

thanks a lot just wondering, is the sq from one of these going to blow away the type r's i planned to get way back?

i've hard about aa, but the havoc line is a little more than i'de like to spend. actually i'm located in the western suburbs of chicago, but i think i'de like to have a go at building the box myself. however, if something gets fubar i'll keep you in mind. the amp that i was considering was the Hifonics BXi 1206D. it's pushing 900w at 2ohms and 1200 at 1ohm. will this amp work with either the ss or fi sub mentioned? do you recomend a sealed box as this will be my first build? i don't know anything about box tuning and all that, but i know theres plenty of info out there to look at.

thanks a lot for clearing this up for me, my redneck friends don't know chit. well the rl-p 15 is definately an option for me now, especially since i'll only be getting one sub. the fi q actually was the other woofer i had in mind, but i really don't know how to make the decision because none of my friends even know these brands, let alone have setups i can hear. do most of you make your boxes or have a shop custom build it for you? i'm probably going to get a new vehicle soon so i can't justify the 350 they want for a custom enclosure. if i were to have a box designed around one of the subs, do you think home depot could do the cuts (i have practically NO tools)?
  5. hey everyone. i'm in the process of piecing togethor my first system and i'm trying to figure some basic stuff out right now. i listen to a lot of house/trance and other electronic music, with some rock and a lil rap every once and awhile. my friends that have subs (mtx, jl w3), their setups sound great with rap but get muddy and don't seem like they keep up with the music when any kind of electro is played. I want my sub to remain clear and crisp. should i be looking for smaller a smaller 10" sub, or if i get more of an sq sub such as the ss rl-p will a single 12 or even a 15 be able to suit my needs? thanks.
