eclipse headunit

Which Ciare speaker do you have? I am interested in those to be used with my ID horns CD1v.3 in active 2way -
Well some people have money... They buy 3k Focal Be, 7k Rainbow Comps, 2k Critical Mass UL sub... so why not a 1k sub with lot's of technology. That's how I feel even though I will never buy it. Kelvin

YIHAAAAA!!!!!!! Seems like I'll be able to use 6,5" speakers without too much modification. Will order some mids now. Will send pics of the final stage. Nothing too fancy since it is "only" my girl's car Kelvin

Hi guyz, I'd like to know a few things: Can the 5" midbass in the Clarus line be bought individually? What is the mounting depth? I have 250rms of clean power, what crossover frequency would you recommend? 125hz @ 18dB ok? or higher? Here's what I am planning: Eclipse CD7200mkII Image Dynamics CD1Ev.3 horns -- DLS A2 HAT Clarus 5" -- DLS A4 bridged Stereo Integrity BM 12" (when released) -- DLS A2 I want to put the subwoofer underneath the driver's seat in my BMW 316ti. Believe I have enough space. Since I am not concerned about subwoofer localization (LP 80hz and less). I can LP the sub higher @ for example 200hz @ 18dB. (I know this is not subwoofer material but just wanted to know) Thank you, Kelvin

Will do. On Monday I'll have a better understanding of what I need. I have a BMW 316ti (euro model) and have made research on the web but don't know max depth and max size for the speakers. I know that most US series 3 have the speakers attached to the door panel (plastic ones) - and I think that euro models have like 5,25" (from looking at the grills) sitting in some funky brackets. If I can, I know that I'll be trying to use the L6. If not, then the C5... Funny thing is that I have every pieces of equipment except for the mids HU - Horns - Ampsx3

Thank you James. Checked the manual on the 5,25. Seems like the depth is good. However I am still wondering about the RMS/highpass thing. Having: Horns @ 107dB 1w/1m The Clarus @ 89dB 1w/1m I want to make use of the most out of that 5,25. Even if it means highpassing it @ 160hz/18dB Second thing is while talking to people on the web, the pretty much all think that it is not a good idea. They are saying that because the natural function of the car does not occur in that situation, there will be almost no lows. Can someone clarify this please? Thanks guyz, Kelvin

Good to know. Thank you Do you guyz think that it can withstand 250rms? I might never be listening to that high of a volume but it is always a good thing to know. Do not want to buy something and burn it lol. Thank you guyz. Kelvin
-
I know that Scott has decided while listening intensively the HP on the crossover. Do you please know the HP on the passives? Thank you, Kelvin
-
I can only use 5.25" in the lower front door since I do not want to cut anything. Believe that there isn't much space between the metal sheet and the door panel, not sure. If I were to use a spacer, it would be a really thin one. You suggest the Legatia L6. Are those shallower? or something like that? Or have you already mounted some in BMWs without any modification? What is the mounting depth on the Clarus 5"? And also, which setting (HP and LP) should I be using to be able to use the full 250rms safely? Thanks a lot, Kelvin
-
Hybrid Audio Legatia 4" of course... Hope that helps, Kelvin

I really like the K2P midrange. However as said earlier, focal tweeters are a love or hate thing. I don't really mind mine as I like the sound it produces with tube amps. I you ever go that route, I would associate the K2P with either Audison or DLS for amps. Hope that helps, Kelvin

You should try to look into those: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=1078 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=1138 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=3591 Hope that helps, Kelvin

I bought 2 recently: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...mp;#entry417870 As said previously, I have those in a common chamber 0.8cuft sealed with 650rms. Believe that they can handle more. Never tried ported and do not think that I will due to size restriction.

Can you determine the max usable volume by using a voltmeter? if yes how please explain. I have a voltmeter but never really got to understand it. -
Hi there, Can you guyz tell me whether there are other brand (amps) that has "Time Alignment" feature besides ZAPCO's DC Reference? Thanks for your help, Kelvin

Hi guyz, I just wanted to know when will the RL-i8s be back in stock? * Early october? * Late october? * Nov, Dec? If anyone could advise. Thanks Kelvin

Ohh yes, always wanted to know how I can use, let's say an 8V pre outputs headunit with an amplifier that can only accept up to 4V input sensitivity? Should I leave the gain on the amplifier to the minimum? I always feel like a noob asking those question. -
Hi guyz, Received my subs in good shape today. What's in the box??? Very well packed, solid second box - Thankx Mike Stickers came with the subs. Sure those aren't Soundsplinter subs but I'm still willing to use it. Nice logo, thought that it would be bigger. Since it is smaller, I'm even happier. Sorry for the pics, taken with phone Those things are heavy craps... Hope my box doesn't fall apart lol I'm having my cousin build the box for me while I'm flying to Japan. I'm so excited to listen to those little buggers. 650rms @ 4ohm from an Audison LRx3.1k --going--> 2xEpic DVC4 in around 0.8cuft sealed. This will be the first Audiopulse setup in Tahiti - French Polynesia -- a small hello to my fellow cousins in Hawaii with their RL-i8s... Updates soon... Kelvin

Heh, my bad... Been listening to a lot of Jazz, Blues to test the subwoofers and completely forgot about... em... Rap I take back what I said, they are LOUD!!!!! Anyway, as said before, I bought those with SQ in mind. So settings are ok. I like my bass upfront but setting the lowpass too low, let's say 60hz, doesn't do them justice (english?) I love my system so much better then before... One more happy customer

Sorry I don't understand what that means lol -
I know, it's just that I did not think those were, let's say power hungry subs.
-
Got it from Mike, Soundsplinter's owner. Since there is no RL-i8 available, he's been selling those for wait-listers. Similar sub, different specs, overall GOOD SUB...

The word I would choose is "Clean". My previous Memphis M1 seems to be "loose" compared to those. Right volume for SQ but a bit disappointed at the SPL. Thought that 600rms for both would be enough. Who knows, maybe it'll perform better in a few days/weeks, after breaking those in. Believe that they need more power. However for SQ, it is just fantastic... Thanks again Mike for those lil' monsters

Your Thoughts on Head Unit
subwoofery replied to ozziefudd's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Try and check the website for Eclipse dealers in your area. Not sure if they are overpriced but I do like mine
