q's on setting low pass crossovers
tweekerz replied to tweekerz's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
on my hu (alpine cda-9835) crossover setting LPF- 20hz to 200hz slope- flat, 6, 12, 18, 24 db/oct right now i have the slope set to flat. and the lpf set to 50hz. amp crossover (hifonics 1500d) lpf- 25hz-250hz i have the amp set to 50hz i believe. but with this configuration "i believe" by setting the deck's crossover slope to "flat" i am bypassing the hu crossover and using the amp. i am wondering how to bypass the amp's crossover. there is no switch to turn it on or off so i have to leave it adusted to a certain freq. any suggestions? -

do you mean flat? set the slope to "flat" and adjust LPF to whatever on the hu? if i do that isnt it turning off the crossover on the hu and using the amp's crossover? and if i turn the slope to 6/12/18/24db/oct isnt that turning "on" the crossover on the hu and if i do that do i set my amp's crossover to a certain hz? sorry im such a confused newb. -

Hey guys, new to the forum. The rl-p 12 looks like a good product and i m interested in running one sub sealed. i have a brutus 1500d, can run it at (1500@1ohm, 1000@2ohms). Any reccomendations on box sizes and what ohm i should run my amp at?

so far so good. very clean and responsive. mike must hate me right now, he probably created a 2nd folder in his inbox just for me! but the low end is suffering right now... probably cause of my tiny box. i was thinking of throwing it in a 1.0 net sealed. how does the rl-p sound in the 1.25? try to be as descriptive as possible. thanks mRRay -

I need an amp that puts out 40-80x2 for my mb quart components. My budget is around 100. I've seen some cheap clarion amps on ebay. Do you guys have any suggestions? What do you think about this memphis amp? Would be nice if i can extract 70x2 out of it. But it is refurbed... Any suggestions would help guys. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT -

My soundsplinter rl-p 12 dvc4 came in the mail today. BTW, excellent packing job Mike! Sub looks very good, build quality seems to be very high. the tinsel leads are woven through very nicely, the claw basket has a nice coat of glossy black paint on it. the spring loaded wire terminals are mounted on sturdy. you can tell there was some TLC here. the little old lady at the ups store couldnt lift the box so she asked me go behind the counter and do it myself lol. i have a 1^3 sealed enclosure to put it in this evening, just to break in the sub. then ill move to a 1.18^3 flush mount sealed enc or possibly ported...

hey jack, is that avionixx a class d or class t amp?
-
thanks for the replies guys. out of the ed 13ov2 and the rl-p, will either one outshine the other in a small sealed with 1kw from my brutus? kinda hard to grasp how these sound when ive never heard any of them. any details would help.
-
will a low tuned frequency on a ported be as responsive as a sealed? i ran a orion h2 ported tuned to 30hz and still noticed the lag at times. when you say low tuned are you talking 25hz?
-
how about a sealed?

Hey guys, new to the forum. I never heard kicker until my cous got his 2 12' L5s in a 4 cubed dual vented enclosure (not sure what its tuned at). The subs are on one side and the vents on the other. He runs 500 watts and is loud. His system destroys my dual 12' Type Rs in a 3 cubed enclosure with a 5x5x11 square port tuned to 38hz. His system is the loudest I ever heard and is my standard for loudness I guess.... LOL I basically need louder and have the funds to do it just trying to figure out what I want. I have 4 cubes internal space maybe 4.5 if i'm lucky in my hatch. Would 4 cubes be to small for a pair of 12' L7s? How about a single 12 or 15 in 4 cubed box be louder than his?
-
2 12" L7s will sound ok in a 2 cubed vented per sub? Am I sacrificing sound by doing this? If so, I might go with a 4cubed vented for a single 15...

Hey guys, just want to check in and say hi to everyone. I am currently in the process of revamping my system to start competing. Andrew

As of now there are no pics of the plans but maybe I can give you guys some insight on what I want to do... Current setup... 01 Integra Hatch Stock electrical system JVC-KDSH99 HU MBQuart RSC216 component speakers (not amped) Lanzar 1500d amplifier 2 12' Alpine Type R in 3.0 cubed enclosure with 5x5x11 port tuned to 38hz Setup in the very near future... 01 Integra Hatch Upgraded electrical (Battery ie red top or yellow top, 200amp alternator) Eclipse or Alpine HU Possible new components powered by 2 channel amp 2000 watts or so going to 2 12s or a single 15 All new wires and RCAs Sound detoning my hatch I want to start DB dragging, and need to hit high numbers. SQ is important but for me possibly a 60/30 ratio of SPL to SQ. SPL is where its at! The biggest challenge I face now is figuring out my sub/amp/box combo. Thanks, Andrew

I currently have MBquart RSC 216s right now but looking for something possibly a little nicer. Any suggestions? Would be amping these and possibly running them from an Alpine or Eclipse. Thanks Andrew
