  1. as the title says. i'd like to know if there is any way we could get more space, whether if we could contribute to the forums expenses to receive more space or something. it'd be nice to store some information in PM's or stuff like that. ya know?

    cd or ipod?

ehh i've read that there is a difference between a CD downloaded even at a high kbps than a cd you buy from a store. little to none iirc. ever think about building up a carputer? mp3car.com

IMO this is why there should be some kind of pre-screening to own an amp of this size? To the OP, you're an IDIOT. You should sell the sundown amp and go back to best buy where you tried to have it installed to buy something a little bit smaller! calling him an idiot and referring him to best buy is not a solution and will just get you banned for your ignorance. any body can own an amp of any size. sure he may or may not know what he is doing which is why he took it to an installer. as for the installers part if he didn't know what he was doing then he should not be installing. the reason the OP is here is to figure out what is wrong. not everyone can tell right off the bat to wtf is wrong with their system. chit dood i have 2 1500d's. I've blown a few subs and ghetto rigged a bunch of chit for kicks. does that mean I'm an idiot and should not own my amps??? to get where i am at i had to learn one way or another. just like him, and just like you or any of us.

i just got into an accident :(

yeah i had thought the same. cause the paint on the car itself is completely fine and isn't fading. i take lots of care to my car and wash it regularly. always use a soft sponge to wash the car, dry off with a microfiber towel, then detail wax the car, buff with a microfiber. etc. only towels i put on the car are microfibers. lol, i got like 30 of them thrown around. i might pull the splash sheild off in a moment to get a look at the fender. yep.

9volts is kind of higher than most people can even supply to their amps. mine only puts out 4v at max volume of my h.u but at the volume level setting i'm only getting around 2-3v and my gain is up around 3/4. every amp i've used has had to have the gains set pretty high. and no my sub is not clipping out nor has my amp ever heated up really bad. just gets warm to the touch after beating the chit out of it. as to the OT i don't know about your situation. are you able to test it on a different sub with inputs from a different head unit? for instance taking the amp out and trying it on a friends setup. it would help troubleshoot and pinpoint where the issue is coming from.

i just got into an accident :(

update! well today i finally received my check from their insurance, and a nice one at that! just barely 2,700 WELL!! after some thought, i got it in mind that i could really make money off this as Johnecon mentioned. after looking up the needed parts of an unpainted OEM bumper 150.00-160.00, unpainted OEM fender 125.00, a pair of new Halo Projector head lights 240.00, splash guard 25.00. all totals out to around 550-600. could someone give me an estimate to how much getting the parts prepped and painted would cost? i am still 100% not saying that i will just cash this check and go at it. this weekend i plan on removing the bumper to get a look at the frame and to see if there is any damage to the joints that hold the fender as that section has been shifted. though what do you guys think?

    Blown....

you probrably clipped it. i'm pretty sure you were not getting a 750 out of that amp and tried to get as much out of it not knowing what the amps really do.

    Buying a Q18" recone kit?

should take about 2 weeks. they have to build the drop in recone, then they will ship it on certain ship dates(i think). after you order it you will get a UPS tracking number, don't get too excited and think it's already on it's way. that's just your ticket basically stating that your kit is in the process of building and will be shipped out soon. remember it can take up to a week in buisness days to build the recone before they ship it out.
  11. i would of thought if he used a relay and upped his remote voltage to a 12v he could split the output tab into how ever many amounts and place a toggle switch in line of the remote wire leading to that amp allowing him to turn on/off the desired amp of his choice. though for the last desire of turning off the tweets or mids and such seperatly from a 4 channel amp is what i feel could not be done unless if you chit the amp down entirely. he could just get 2 more 2 channel amps and sell the 4 channel then be able to independantly toggle all amps.

    Problems with HU Install

i can't say. i never got mine completely fixed. i checked all fuses on that car and found nothing :/ have you checked the fuse panel under the dash under the steering wheel?

    Problems with HU Install

you might have shorted a wire in the dash that has some function with the dimming mechanism. the dimmer is not controlled thru the head unit, it's the dimmer that dims the factory head unit, in which some after market stereos work in conjunction with the dimmer. like for instance if i turn my head unit off it turns off completely. no lights on the display or anything. but if i turn on my park brakes it will light up a few buttons of the head unit, but the head unit will stay turned off and not play anything. WELL, a similar case happend to me as when i was a total noob installing my first and still current head unit on an 89 cutlas cierra. when friend and i wired i think was the ground of the head unit to the dimming wire of the car. we didn't use any wire harness for the car we just spliced wires cause i didn't know any better. well that same night my tail lights, dash lights, and turn signals all went dead. well if you turned on the park lights the lights mentioned wouldn't turn on. but if i braked the bright portion of the brake lights would work just not the dim. i had no clue what had happened and i ended up taking my car to a mechanic, they rewired my brake lights and turn signals. though not 100% cause 2 days later i get a fix-it-ticket cause my turn signals weren't working correctly. i had bought a new dim switch and properly wired the head unit after much studying. the problem was never 100% fixed. car ended up getting flooded under 4ft water so good riddens. most likely, you got some shorted wires somewhere that need to be fished out. good luck man.
  16. haha i don't have any christmas lights. i just brought it up cause they always do become a tangled mess once taken out of the package.

    Alt. Size ?

the bigger the better. why? cause you'll know you have a stable ass electrical plus, if you ever decide to add more more and subs or such you know you'll have the electrical for it.

where's the pic of the underside? that's like teasing us.... very nice amp. i like the power output meters on them. is there a way to get meters like such and run them externally like in the speaker line or so? would make for some nice eye candy.
  21. hm....... i might do this to my car. would a thread rod lets say 2ft long hammered 1.5ft into the ground work??

    SQ driving me NUTS

panel rattle is a bitch. for me it's not so much my panels but my rear view mirror has a violent shake which causes this weird ass rattle sound. my other issue is my rear dash panel, that thing just flip flops around and is close to impossible to keep quiet. air trying from escape the trunk just causes the panel to lift and hit the glass and chit. it's pretty bad. are you adding sound deadener to your car or just re enforcing the panels? i plan on using some paint on deadener to add to the back of some of my panels to see if it would keep the noise down some.
  24. could be but i don't see how the ground is traveling over a painted surface. it could just be static? do you get shocked when you touch the car or is it only her?
