heres a few more ive noticed for people such as myself who are forced to build boxes with limited tools.. -get a 99 cent box of rubber gloves and you dont need to worry abt getting liquid nails off ur hands -the only saw i have is a jigsaw, so when making straight cuts get a looong straitedge and clamp it to the wood (making sure to clamp it exactly parallel to your line) and just run it along the straightedge. Still not perfect, but most of the time better than just "eyeing it" -a square is your best friend. As said above, cut from the factory sides, but ALWAYS use a square, to make sure your cuts are exactly 90 degrees. Theres nothing worse than using half a sheet of mdf on one piece of the box then realizing its not square. -I find that having a planned design is always helpful, but more importantly, when adding each side of the box, set it in the area where its going to sit in the vehicle to make sure your measurements are right and that you werent overlooking any parts that were sticking out or anything like that. This mostly only pertains to vehicles with limited space such as a small truck or whatever where every inch counts. thats all i can think of for now, but this is a good idea for a thread, lets all throw in our $.02 Tom

Yup I finally made a decision and the sub is in the mail!! My sx12 will be arriving soon and I need to build a box. I want to give it about 2.5 cubes after port displacement tuned to 34-35 hz. Building the box is not a problem, I got that part down. I just need help figuring port area/length. So any way you guys could help out would be awesome!! Thanks Tom

well ive heard the "console port" will sound bad.....is this tru? if it wont affect the sound then id like to do the console port, but if it will change the sound at all then ill put it behind the seat Thanks Tom

haha well, i can get 4 cubes if i HAVE to but id lose 2 clicks and i really dont wanna drive like that but thats the most i can lose and still actually move my legs i dont have dims because i need to kno gross volume before i can get dims (or else what would i be measuring haha) hope that helps... Thanks Tom

wow thanx for all the replies, but i need to specify a few things... -i want a slot port -itll be an odd shape because i have a reg cab truck, so im trying to keep it down to 2.5 cubes after port displacement (or "net volume" as u called it) -i can figure out airspace of the rest of the box on my own (id need to so i can sqeeze as much out as i can) so all i need you guys' help with is the port dims -^also because of that, you need not bother with the dims of pieces to cut (thanx anyway tho, that was very generous) -ill be doing an inverse mount so the driver displacement should not be subtracted from the internal volume -yes ill be using 3/4 mdf I think this is all, but I probably forgot something. just tell me if i did Thanks again so much for you guys' help!! Tom

granted it looks kewl and itsa good idea, but its ONE dollar bills yea........"big" baller

(I know the SPL pounds) -How big of a box have you guys been using?(ive heard that they need a bigger box than reccomended on the site) How many watts have you guys been runnin to them? (again, ive heard different than whats on the site) Thanx in advance Tom
