HELP!!!! W/ head unit
DanP replied to millar1982's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Might want to consider going to a junk yard and trying to get as much of an end as you can then wire that together, then you can just use a harness to attach your radio and you'll be sure everything is connected correctly. -
Give us the dimensions you're working with and im sure someone could whip up a design for you, best bet is to build it yourself if you don't have the tools to cut the wood, JAY-K Lumber in New Hartford will make all the cuts on the wood for $15 and they actually make accurate cuts.

I've been hearing good things about those $100 Shark 2500's only bad thing I've heard about them is if you have poor ventilation they overheat fast. For $120 I've been thinking of ordering one just to try it out.

Just wondering as you've said you're 14, is this in a vehicle? if not what are you using as a power source for your amp.

Air Bag Disconnect rules, legality, info, etc..
DanP replied to shizzzon's topic in Automotive and Performance
Yeah with something like that, and with so much wrong information on the internet I would prefer to hear it directly from the company seems like the safest bet. Hopefully it never comes down to needing to file an insurance claim though. -

Why not contact the insurance company but not tell them who you are? That way you can get a first hand answer, and it won't affect your account at all. -

best head unit?
DanP replied to Ryan_hughez's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You sure its not that your voltage is dropping too low, causing your headunit to cut off? -
Seems like it would be easier just to add some more glue and use some glossy vinyl

Angled connetors
DanP replied to pmureika's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I dont see how angled or straight would make a difference both just use the hex bolt to tighten it down, both of them are the same size opening as well. I personally hate Angled because I can only insert my 1/0 wire then screw down my amp, and in the process the jacket slides off the wire and exposes some of it. -

You fuse for the wire not for the amp, if you're only buying a cheapo amp the amp should have built in fuses. -
New York uses a points system and apparently the assessment fee is based on the points on your license "What is a driver responsibility assessment? In addition to any fines, fees, penalties, or surcharges that you pay for a traffic conviction, you must pay the driver responsibility assessment. The assessment is an amount that you must pay each year for three years. You pay the assessment to the DMV." "Who must pay a driver responsibility assessment? You must pay the driver responsibility assessment if any of the following incidents occur: you are convicted of an alcohol-related traffic violation and the violation occurred in NYS on or after November 18, 2004 (includes boats and snowmobiles); oryou are convicted of a drug-related traffic violation and the violation occurred in NYS on or after November 18, 2004 (includes boats and snowmobiles); ora DMV hearing determines that you refused a chemical test and the refusal occurred in NYS on or after November 18, 2004 (includes boats and snowmobiles); oryou receive six or more points on your NYS driver record during a period of 18 months and the violations occurred in NYS, Quebec or Ontario on or after November 18, 2004."So essentially a way for NYS To make more money.

I've had a written warning for 6mph over, 71 in a 65. I got a 76 in a 55, I Got no warning I wasn't even asked why I was speeding he came up to me asked for my license/registration went back to his car and came back with a ticket. In NY Thats a $270 Fine then they charge you $100 a year for 3 years for an "assessment fee" Paid a lawyer $100, was reduced to failure to obey $50 ticket and I was a happy camper. I cant imagine being pulled over and given a warning for 6 Miles over though...

Electrical upgrade planning - 2004 Chevy Blazer
DanP replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Because of the MASSIVE Amount of reserve you would need/ draining of the batteries. Better question is why play with your car off? If you plan on listening to your system outside of your car buy a boombox .
