Recone Icon 12 to Xcon 12?

2-2.5k is too much for the ICON. You more than likely wouldn't notice an increase in output anyway. If you want to get louder you'll need more cone area, or a 12 that can take a lot more power.

Will do Aaron. So far I love them, I put the subs in about an hour ago and it is nice to be able to cross the subs lower than I used to. I'll do a more in depth review once they break in.

Recone Icon 12 to Xcon 12?

It is able to take more power due to improved cooling. How much power are you running? How much do you want to run?

They were crazy cheap! Should have a little bass by the end of tonight for the first time in months. The components are getting better and better, I'm surprised at how "up front" they sound.

Haha reminds me of my house. Up until a day ago I had stuff in every room and nothing in my car.

    Setup help

You most likely will not lose much output if any, however it is all install dependent. Also the gear you plan to switch to is a definite upgrade in quality and customer service.

    Amplifier on Mids & Highs?

If you are happy then no, if you want them to sound better then yes.

A little bass to hold me over until the SSA subs are here. This thing looks very impressive for how cheap it was.

They are in the top of the doors all of the way up front. I will be trying a few other locations as I go. Thanks! you ditched the passives yes??? Not just yet I will probably try bi-amping them first if I'm not happy as is. Between the different settings on the passive crossovers (They have like 12 different chips you can put in depending on driver location on/off axis and in/out of phase) and the tweaking I can do with the 880 I think I'll be happy using the passive crossovers. I change my mind often so who knows what will happen. I did want to keep the front stage nice and "simple" but I do feel like I am under utilizing my head unit.

I have listened to three songs so far one metal song, a rap song, and a female vocalist song. Flat EQ high passed at 80hz with a 12 db slope, with the gain left all of the way down. At this point I am very happy with the Alpine's. The tweeters sound nice and aren't harsh even at the 0db setting. The mids were good but I'm expecting more once I get the gain set properly, and mess with the EQ and TA settings a bit. So far so good!

Ugh. You just called Culver's good food. Agreed, they built one here and the line was out the door for a few weeks. After the hype died down I tried it and was not impressed.

Last time I didn't that is one reason why I had to redo them. I think I'm going to use plasti dip unless someone else has a better suggestion. I was also gonna ask if you used that... lol Plasti-dip seems like a winner for alot these days... Yeah everyone is using it. The black stuff on the door in the pic is spectrum, and spectrum sludge.

Thanks! Heavy duty liquid nail, I've used it for this before with great results. Clamp it for a few hours then let it cure for a day or so. Thats good news, liquid nails is always in my arsenal. Appreciate that, will give it a try in the future. It is strong enough that I can't get it off by pulling on it as hard as I can. A few taps around the seam with a flat head and a hammer and it comes off clean. Best of both worlds in my opinion. The last one that I had in there was about 6-7 years old when I took it out and it was just as strong as when I put it in.

I thought it was gross, but also think the same of the wheat Coors you like. I liked it a lot ended up drinking the entire six pack.. Lol Coors= Gross. I typically drink blue moon, purple haze, some boulevard, and maybe one or two choco beers. Blue Moon is Coors.... Sub wheat and Bam. Nasty. I hate Blue Moon.

At most 2000 RMS for the subs. This will be a semi "budget" build. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
