box width-40 box height-13.5 box depth1-25 box depth2-25 square port width-6 square port length2-0 ok, so thats what i came up with using re's calculator. 5.1 cubic feet at 32hz. and thats before port and sub displacement? how does it look?
-
ya, think ill make it slightly larger, at least 2 cubes each.
-
oh! i did have it wrong, my bad, thanks alot dude
-
ya i put in those #'s and it said it was tuned to 79hz? rather than 5" wide maybe you meant 1.5"?
-
alright, looks like I'll save a few bucks and build one..... so if i go with what kharp suggests, how deep does the port piece go?
-
yep, thats him alright......now only if he'll post in here...... thanks kharps, thats a little smaller than others have suggested.....but if I cant get any others I may go with that......I'll measure out my max dimensions right now, but I have the entire cargo area, tons of space.

Hey everyone, been a member here ever since I bought my saz1500D last summer, and I Love it! been running it at 2 ohms to a pair of the older type r 12's in a sealed box since then. Around the time I bought the amp I got 2 of the new R 12's and now its come time to try and build a box for them, this is the first box I'll ever attempt so I dont really know how to get proper dimensions, ive tried the re calculator, but im still unsure if im right....so I figured I'd ask. but anyway vehicle is 98 gmc jimmy so space isnt a huge factor if need be, i can take some measurments of max size subs Type R 12 dual 4's x2 amp sundown saz1500D@ 1 ohm I'd like to have subs firing up slot port facing the rear, but if I cant whatever.....I think 2.5 cubes each at 32hz would suit them, but thats open for debate. Now I dont have access to a table saw or anything......I was planning on getting home depot to cut them for me and I'll just put it together. so it would be great if I could get external dimensions, I hope to get it done by the weekend. any help is MUCH appreciated

oh? interesting, you talking low 40's? I tried woofertools.com and used the ssa icon 12 since mine arnt there.....seems like a nice simple program......

Hey guys, I'm new here.....thought I would come ask the experts. Well I recently purchased a barely used 1500D. Previously I ran an mrd-m501 for about 2 years to 2 12" R's, then I swapped it out for the saz, running it at 2 ohms. alls I did was swap the wires. the 1500D worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks, then all of a sudden today it got protection happy. my electrical is stock 105amp alt. stock batt. with 4 gauge wiring. It was fairly hot today, +35*C......so when it kicked into protection the 1st time I pulled over, checked the connections, turned it back on and it worked. the 2nd time it kicked into protect it wouldnt go back on I turned everything off except the a/c to try and cool it for a good 15 minutes.......still, as soon as I turned it on it would go <protect/power/protect> very quickly and stay in protect. I noticed that one of the rca connectors is somewhat loose.....like it turns a little.....could this be it? Like running at 2 ohms should be no problem for this amp, even on stock electrical, right? the amp was running pretty hot......but not so hot i couldnt hold my hand on it...... sorry bout the rant....but im a little dissapointed considering I just bought 2 new subs to drop it to 1 ohm.......and now im ampless 2 weeks after i bought it. any help?

sundownz you still havent got it? I hope everythings ok
-
thank you!
-
oh, well the amp is in the mail, should be there by the end of the week my email is a couple posts back.
-
Sundownz did you get my email?
-
These amps are rated at 12.8 volts?
-
Sorry for the delay sundownz but im heading out now to send in the amp. UPS ground I guess, I'm poor I hope you dont need the remote knob, I didnt pack it up. I've been giving the amp evil looks for like 2 weeks now lol If you need to contact me my email is [email protected] hope it goes well!
-
Well the amp worked fine for almost 3 weeks with the 60 amp fuse.......and now it blew 3 80 amps. It has to be the amp.......which I will be sending out either today or tomo. hopefully sundownz can find my problem........Just got 2 new 12's and im really anxious to drop her to 1 ohm. with 1/0 and an ANL fuse of course.
-
I got 5 "gold plated" 80 amp fuses. disconnected the subs, put the fuse in and as soon as I turned on the deck, it blew. did that twice......-2 fuses. next I took the bottom cover off, tried that......to rule out the transformer issue.......still blew.... So anywho I hooked up the alpine and voila, great sounding bass. which leads me to belive its the amp. I will email u, sundownz, tonight. _____________________________

sweet, im gonna try an 80 amp today......hopefully it works for me........but sundownz......about the duct tape....wont it melt? silverbane.....have you tried 0.5ohm on that setup? thanks guys......I will let you know how it goes later today
-
ok, actually it was a 60amp agu fuse.......is this my main problem? I tried 7! different places and the biggest agu fuse I could find was an 80amp....grrr I didnt buy it tho also I blew my 60amp fuse tonight do they even make 100amp agu's? I opend the amp tonight to take a peek, and everything seems hunky dory.......I will try either an 80amp or 100 if i can find it and the red green style duct tape. tomo does running a small fuse contribute to an amp heating up faster orrrr............ if this dosent work.....then I'm stumped.........ground is good......or at least was good enough for the alpine for 2 years....... ugghh......im bassless, how sad..... any idea how much warranty i still have? I plan on running this amp for quite a while. also when my warranty does run out......am I still able to send it to you if need be?
-
thanks for the info! will it benefit me to run dual batteries and a stock alt......or will I still have horrible voltage drops........I have a chance to get a used kinetic hc800 for $125 shipped.......or I'll just get an optima or similar. I'm gonna go out and see if i can find a bigger fuse also........I will let you know how this works out for me...... thanks for all the help.....thought I was in a big pickle untill i registerd here lol but the amp did perform quiet nicely when it did work......its only tuned by ear for now......
-
right on man, thats great! Rob was a great guy to do business with. I will give that a try tonight, thanks alot! What size fuse should i use? Will I have problems running at 1 ohm with 105amp alt I dont think my voltage is dropping that badly.......unless im just idleing......
-
about the connector......when i stick the rca plug in i tend to twist it to slide in easier , while im twisting, the female connector on the amp also turns a bit. yes, currently its bolted to the back of the box.......this is in a blazer and I had the back seat folded down so it had great ventilation. thats a good question on the fuse, im not too sure....I never changed it when i swapped the amps......but the amp is still getting power.....so its not blown. Ok, im not to technically smart with amps......but if its not working tonight....I will open her up and visually check. I got the amp from Rob E is it possible for me to send it to you if all fails to work? I've been reading thru this forum for a good month, and the customer service is outstanding......I'd love to be a sundown enthusiast for life! thanks sundownz
