  1. hey guys, im about to build a ported box to sit on my back seat, just for a little fun. amp is an saz1500d@1 ohm wired up to a diehard gold with 2/0 welding cable I realize box recommendations are 1.5 to 2 cubes ported at around 30-35hz with 12-15sq inches of port area per cube, but i was wondering if there was something more exact due to my lower power and config (being in a truck on the seat) its going to be a slot port because im going to use re's box calculator. oh and i planned on going sub firing up and port facing the windshield, is this a good or bad idea? im just looking for a daily street beater

    Problems with my zv3

Hey everyone, bought my zv3 months ago and finally got around to installing it. I had an old sealed box that I threw it in, it's on the large side at about 3.7 cubic feet amp is an saz1500v1. Problem is that when I turn it up to really get the sub moving I get loud sharp cracking noises and an occasional pop! It sounds really good at lower volume but cranked up it starts to go crazy. Any ideas? My gain is at about half bass boost at 0 it sounds like it bottoms out but I couldn't even get my type rs to do that off this amp??

    Problems with my zv3

Thanks guys, that was my next guess, this thing is MOVING at half gain and less than half volume on my deck. It's sounds BAD I've never had a sub in my career make this noise. This box is temporary till I build a ported, unless there is an easy way to figure out how wide and long it needs to be I agree the box is too big but I didn't think it would cause this much crap. I will try adding blocks or something.

    Problems with my zv3

Off 1500 watts in a sealed box? It dosent seem nearly as loud as it should be. Before I had the amp pushing 2 12 inch type rs in a big ported box and they never once made a noise like this and I honestly tried blowing them on occasion and they just got louder and louder? I sure hope a 12 inch zv3 can take more power sealed than 2 hype rs ported?

Where can I get some SA-12s???

I'm actually in the same situation. currently running 2 12" R's in 5 cubic feet before displacement, and around 32hz . box is slot ported with alot of port area, subs up port back in a 2 door 98 blazer. Running off a 1500D. I mean, it gets really loud, has like 2 inches of roof flex and all that good stuff. but im a little worried to push em any harder than i am, think i need some sa-12's myself.

this has to be a joke.....
  16. Well i got it in, swear words n all haha. The serph belt is now VERY tight, damn near rubbing on the belt tensioner body.voltage dosent really stay at 14 on my guage.....but i probably just need a better battery.....or 2
  17. Hi all, need some help, planning on installing my 200amp alt today. I see the factory wiring in my 98 GMC jimmy has an 8 guage going from (i think) alternator all the way to the fuse box then back to the battery? correct? now i have a piece of 4 gauge from a previous install around 16" long. the big question is can i just run directly from the alt to the battery? and if so what do i do with the factory stuff going to the fuse box? just leave it? or will that blow the fuse in the fuse box and cause problems? or should i disconnect it and just let it dangle? my battery is a 3 year old (weak) ac delco 680 c.a or c.c.a cant remember, and i did ground the battery to the frame with 1 guage already.

    Vid of my 1500d on 2 type R 12's

have JL's unamped in there right now with plate speakers in the dash.....cant say i like it at all.....planning just the rsd's on around 100 watts each, also installed a clarion flip out a couple weeks after that video. the camera makes it sound much MUCH harsher than it really is....just trying to find a decent h.o alt right now.... and ya, that was my 1st ever attempt at a box, and i think it worked out pretty good.....more a learning experience than anything.....i want to try a little smaller, less port area and tuned slightly higher.....sure wangs the lows tho

2 days ago i replaced that old, OLD pioneer head unit with a clarion flip out(vrx765vd) but im unsure as to where i put my amp rca's, i mean it has like 4 pairs on the back of the head unit.....right now i have it on "non-fader output terminal" should it be on "rear audio output terminal"? it also has "front audio output terminal" which i didnt use for obvious reasons.......sorry for the newbish question....but this was my 1st reciever install!!!!! oh, and the box in the vid was a first too....got anxious so i didnt sand/paint/carpet anything but honestly i kinda like the "raw" look.....besides the glue smear lol also another question, if i may.......do you think internal bracing is needed? 3/4" mdf single baffle.......also i didnt do any 45's in the corners..... well anyway, thats my jumble....enjoy!

    Vid of my 1500d on 2 type R 12's

you all make it sound like im running it at 100%, 100% of the time...yeesh....and i do have 1/0, its sitting here waiting to be installed, along with my new PG rsd's. this was RIGHT after install, pretty much no tuning done....and when exactly isnt 1/0 the best? unecessary at times, yet still "the best". The amp still barely gets warm after a decent pounding
