My original design was a slot but I couldn't do it correctly without the funding of the box around 45+Hz. I want around 33-35. Can somebody Give me a design? Cause my aero ports aren't moving all that much air.
-
So how do you correctly port a box that's 14 wide, 18 deep, 7 tall in the back, 14 in the front?
-
Is that big enough to get an actual 10 inch box with port room
-
im working on it, looks like the biggest it can be is about 15 inches wide, 13 inches tall, and around 18 or so inches deep. But around 20 inches or so deep into my trunk, the height is a max of 8 inches.
-
haha yeah, thought so, thats why im waiting till i get a new car. About the trunk opening tho, im not sure about depth, but the tallest a box could be is 14inches, and widest it could be is 16 inches. and thats pushing it

^thats the case for me :/ My midbass is aftermarket Kicker 5 1/4 speakers. (stock size) and they dont exactly kick very hard. I was thinking about replacing them with tweeters, and placing a single 8 inch midbass behind my seats. (in the convertible 99-04 mustang, behind the seats is bare metal where the MACH460 amps are for the sound system and convertible roof motor lay. Its a very ugly place, but nobody would ever have to see it.

lol, yeah i think im going to lower mine to around 100hz... anyway, il try to get to measuring as soon as I can. I know the smallest part of the trunk entrance is 16 inches wide, and from there to the top of the opening is about 14 inches.
-
Alright, il get some measurements done sometime this weekend. Thanks for the help tho. Would it be better to design and build two boxes to put my tens into, or one big box for a 12? Because of trunk opening being smaller than trunk space, wouldnt it be better to design 2 good 10 boxes? to get the most out of my trunk space?
-
I got you, I understand. I'm good myself at designing boxes myself but Iv been stuck on two 10s and you see where that got me. Il try to measure max deminsions when I can. My trunk space isn't as much of a problem, its the opening to the trunk... Il see what I can measure
-
If you guys can design a 12 ported box that works I guess I can try, but it would have to outperform my two 10s. If you think it can work then Il give it a shot
-
Alrighty then. I can't take a picture right now but these are my amp settings. My lpf is around 150 Hz. My bass boost is at 0. My gain is right at the halfway mark.
-
I was also thinking about inverting the subs, would that help at all?
-
Lol, I'm not that attached. Its my third set of boxes, and I had a family friend do it and I don't want to ask him again after he worked so hard on these. I will make a pic of the amp settings when I get home today. I got my answer tho for my question so there's no need. Unless you know a design already I can use for a mustang convertible... I'm so sick of messing with boxes... I cant wait to get a different car

Iv been through to many boxes, il just stick to these. iv already measured for a the biggest possible box I can fit in there, thats where I ended up with the 2 boxes I have now. There are what I want them to be, I KNOW THE PORT IS SHIT, and could be much improved with other boxes but im done with that. I was just asking about the drivers, I got my answer, i really dont want to try and do more boxes, it wont be much longer until I get a new car anyway, Im trying to get the best out of this one.
-
I was asking if it would be a waste of money, I got my answer, and thank you for that, but I am saying, with the deminsions of my trunk, a possible decent ported box for any size sub WILL NOT FIT. Im just tired of telling people I cant fit a box in there. It would have to be easily removable.
-
omg, for the last time, I cant put a bigger box in my trunk!!!!! My trunk opening doesnt allow much AT ALL! the only way would be to build it INSIDE the trunk, and im not going there because I need it to be removable.

It was going to be either a single 2, or 3 inch port, so I decided on the two, 2 inch ports. Believe it or not, its a big step up from a sealed box the same size.
-
2, 2inch ports. I know there small, but its allot better than the previous setup. (Sealed) So it would be a waste of money if I replaced these with any of the subwoofers I suggested? (or any other in budget subwoofer) I guessi l just wait until I get an SUV so I have room for more than this
-
well, what are your boxes tuned to? Are they prefab boxes? 50hz is way higher than I would tune any subwoofer. Mine are tuned to 32hz
-
These are my 2 boxes, that each on their own JUST managed to slide into the trunk opening. They slide back and fit well, leaving a small space on one side where my amp now is, and I can place small things, which I need from time to time. NOW THE BOXES ARE TOGETHER AND THE AMP IS ON ONE SIDE.

Yeah... my seats dont fold down, my trunk is crazy small, im a little guy and I cant even fit in there! (no kidnapping for me) I had these boxes built and they are much improved over the old sealed ones, im happy with the boxes. The only way I can fit that much airspace into the trunk is to create 2 seperate boxes, as my trunk opening is also VERY small. PLEASE dont recomend new boxes. These were custom made to fit the shape of my trunk to take up as much space as I could. When I get home later today I will post a picture of my setup (it looks really cheap but its very effective for small space)
-
Okay, that's what I was looking for. Thanks
-
Ok, I get what your saying. Thanks. Of I had more room in my trunk I would love to improve it, but right now the drivers are all I can change. Its come a long way since my first setup in that car. Is there a driver that will get louder than the CVR in my case?
-
Okay, so I'm stuck with them then. Ok. Im not changing my setup anymore, thanks for the help tho
