It is a little on the larger side for the recommended 1.5-2 for ported, but that's awesome. I think I will be happy with this I hear that its best in an SUV to have the subs up, and port back. So this is what I got. look good?
-
Total box outside dimensions. H=18 W=36.5 D=22 And the port is 5 x 15.75 and 42 inches deep. This is tuned around 31.5hz and leaves room for the subs. Thank you for the help

Okay, I just made a model, the port being over 50 inches long takes away space needed for the subwoofers... this cant work in this size of a box. I will try to expand it later. I am going to try to expand the box a little where I can. Could I possibly lower the port to 5 inches? I know its 78.75 instead of the 80-90. Im looking for good SQ as well as some SPL, I dont want to blow the doors off without sounding good.

Okay, so my new box L= 36 in. H= 18 in. D = 20 in. With a 5.25 x 15.75 port, I need over 50 inches of port length. That seems like its too much for a box of this size. If its right though I cant argue

Okay, thank you. Il try making a box like that then.
-
okay, that got me the cubic feet... I already knew my cubic feet, i was looking for the 80-90 in2 like you said. How much is 80-90 in2 in cubic feet. 85 in2 = how many cubic feet?
-
I know what it means... I'm trying to find how much mine takes up now. 1.5 cubic feet = ??? In2
-
well you said to use 80-90 in2 of port... i just want to know how many cubic feet that is. because right now my original design has .64 cubic feet, and the newer one i designed today uses 1.48 cubic feet.. I dont know how those numbers compare. I am about to leave the house, I will download it later tho and try to learn
-
I had that once, didn't fully understand it. I'm afraid I won't know everything I'm looking at. Can I just get a conversion of 85 in2 to cubic feet? That will be my last question, with that I can build my box.
-
okay, so im pretty bad at calculating that. I only know how to tell how many cubic feet I have. So can I convert that? How close was I on my last design? (Last post on first page)

1500 RMS amplifier. Thank you for your help

This is another design of the same box. SAME outside dimensions. Total volume = 5.333 (1 inch MDF) Port Volume = 1.37037 Tune = 31.5 hz I made the port 4 inches in width and raised the length to where I had it tuned around 31.5 - 31.6 hz. Its now 4 x 16 x 37

Okay, so if both SA12 and Gcon 12s are both bad ass subs, il probably stick with sundown then. So 2 SA12s, in that ported box. I will make another model of it tonight. How big of a port are we talking? I will also change the box dimensions to keep around 3-4 cubes of air because sundown recommends SA-12s get 1.5-2 cubes each.
-
The 2 15 inch gcons sounds good. Won't I need a bigger box tho? As for the subs... I understand I need to pick, bit for this box, would sa12s or gcons sound better?
-
Well yeah, of course I want it to sound good. I just want to be able to crank it up and get some good bass. Not competition or anything like that, but just some nice loud bass when I want it. I just want to know if this box is good to use?
-
Sa-12s, or gcon 12s. Or possibly an xcon 15. Which ever is louder. This would be in the back of an SUV. Would the subs being on top be better? I could raise the height of the box and extend the port to what ever I need.

From the album: Sub Box
4.69~ cubic feet of air. 0.64~ port area 5.33~ Total box airspace Tune = 31hz -
My friend has a small ported 10 on 250rms and its as loud as my two 10s sealed. He's ported at about 40hz tho. I'm going to try to get a box like that around 38hz at most. My best buy has something like it. I tested airflow of my ports and there's hardly anything coming out, and my friends box is pushing out a crazy ammount and still sounds good on moat music. I dont listen to anything to low anyway. 35hz is about as low as it gets
-
Okay, im going to look for a prefab box thast ported. maybe the same size as my last box but a little wider with a port. can somebody recommend me a box? My current sealed boxes are H=13.5, W=14.5, D=11.5(at the top) 6(at the bottom) The ported box I need can be as big as H=13.5, W=16 D=12

The person who built my box is a professional carpernter. He said he will be able to undo the glue, if the box won't be good enough with a slot port then I'm giving up until I get a new car. I will make a sketch of my box later today
-
My box won't be to hard to take apart. I just need a design to use. I have the two boxes already, but I'm not good at doing slot ports for boxes so small
-
I am going to use the 2 boxes I already have. Just replace the ports
