2 smaller amps or 1 bigger amp.
liljestrand replied to liljestrand's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yeah thats what I was thinking Duran. Thanks. Yeah upgrades will be waiting till at least after tax time so just trying to figure things out before then. -
wiring batt. Distribution block..?
liljestrand replied to Jd377's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I will be doing this same exact thing just so I don't have to buy another fuse holder. -
So I got one of these off ebay and unlike the stinger one it only has 2 wires. And if I was to hook it up straight to power it would be on all the time. Was thinking of either running it off the ignition wire that triggers the head unit to turn on or running it off a switch so I could turn it off. Or do you guys think another way would be better.

Thanks for that info Julian. I think I'm gonna go ahead with just throwing a switch in (think I have one sitting around here somewhere). -
Question about repairing an amp.
liljestrand replied to liljestrand's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
When replacing mosfets, you should replace all within that section. Meaning, if you are replacing some powersupply mosfets, replace ALL of the powersupply mosfets. If you are replacing mosfets in the output section, replace ALL of the mosfets in the output section. Make sure you buy them all at the same time and try to specify that they be from the same batch. Mosfets from different batches, even if they have the same part number, can have different internal resistance which will cause the ones with the lowest resistance to have more current which creates the possibility of those mosfets blowing. Thanks for that info. So.....could possibly be more of a headache than needed? -
Question about repairing an amp.
liljestrand posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have a power acoustik vu560-4x. Back in high school was being dumb when hooking it up and crossed a wire or two and basically it went up in smoke. Basically determined the problem to be 3 of these mosfets. Just wondering how hard it would be to replace these. Would it be just some simple soldering? I figure the 5 bucks it would cost would be worth the try for a highs amp. -
Hey kyle I won't really have access to my phone for the next couple days with work and all. If at possible could you pm the price difference. Tbh though I'm sure this alternator will be overkill for me but will help with future upgrades. I ordered it late on thursday dunno when it would be shipped out. So don't know the timetable to get things changed if needed. Great customer service btw.

Ok so Fi recommends 2-2.6 cf for a sealed 15 Q. The Khaotik sealed 15 box comes in at 2.769 cf. So will I be ok to run a slightly bigger box or will I run into any problems. Cus that really doesn't seem like that much of a difference to me but just wanted to check. Thanks.

Taking out stock battery terminal.
liljestrand replied to liljestrand's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
No not the big three. I will be switching the terminals out from stock to knu konceptz ones. So I will have to take out the stock terminals and extend the wires. So any tips on getting the best soldering job done or would butt connectors be a better route. -

Ok I got some new Knu Konceptz battery terminals with 4g outputs and I'm assuming I will need to cut the stock terminal out. So soldering the wires will be the best option right? Now I know with smaller wires you usually just twist them together and then solder but thats not really feasible with 4g, or is it? If anyone has tips on doing this it would be greatly appreciated. This is the terminal I will be using. -

Well I mean where I will be extending the main power line for the car. Attaching a length of 4g to the stock wiring. -
Looking at getting a battery for the trunk area.

This will be going into my scion xb 08. Its going into the hatch area in the back. Question is would any of these batteries work for me. I have no experiance with batteries besides getting stock ones for replacement. I've read up on deka, xs, optima and all those. The only reason I would go with one of the batteries from this site is because I have an account there and they are local. Like I said this is going into a scion xb, will be the second battery. Going to help power a sundown saz1000d pushing a fi 15 Q. http://www.lesschwab.com/batteries.asp I'm assuming one of the deep cycle ones would work for me since they seem to resemble the optimas, but I am lost. And since it wont actually be starting the car I guess the cca wont matter much? What should I be looking for. Thanks. -

Well I have the big three done. When I get more money I may pick up a smaller sundown amp and some components. -

liljestrand replied to kike08's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
if you go with ebay you can get some knu in whatever guage you want. Plus they combine shipping. Oh on the rca's they dont say krystal kable in the title. Usually have smoke in the title. -

I got a 20' Knu Koncetpz Krystal Kable on ebay for 20 bucks. Works great for me so far. -
Ok I was just wondering what you guys do. I bought some knukonceptz terminals. Here's the situation. Did you guys cut off the factory terminals? And then just wire those into the new terminals? Or get a battery with multiple posts? Its gonna be in a 08 scion xb so I don't really wanna cut the factory terminals if i dont have to.

lol...Your thinking of the post. I'm talking about the terminal that is on the wire itself. -

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=BT-104P Sorry should have posted what I bought. Bout the multiple post. Isn't there batteries that have a post on top and one on the side? or maybe i read somthing wrong. -
If you hit a bump and they only went out for 5 seconds was it maybe just a cd skipping?

Thats a good idea....can't really shallow mount the fi q lol. I dunno how much room the 07 has, the 08's and up have quite a bit of room. I think i may just be able to mount the sub underneath the floor in there already.

So I'm going to attempt to make a false floor in my scion xb. Back there now there is a storage compartment type thing above the spare tire. I'm going to try to make a tray for my amp to sit in. Its a Saz-1000d. Here's my question. I'm going to put some fans in so that I can put the false floor over the amp. Will this have sufficient airflow? Maybe like 2 120 mm fans on each side, 2 pushing and 2 pulling. Will this be a problem?
