So what would happen if I crossed the power and ground on the amp? Yes, I did this accidentally, for less than 5 minutes ! The amp does have a reverse polarity protect on it, but what damage, if any, have I done? Is it completely fried? I went ahead and put the wires back in correctly, and I still got no sound to my fronts. Thanks for your replies

Do I need two terminal cups for a DVC sub? Thanks Well, I might as well ask my other questions while I'm thinking about them. If I'm wiring a DVC in parallel, how do I connect the two terminals? Can I just twist the two wires together and run that end into one terminal, then the other end into the second terminal? And on that same subject, is it good/bad/ugly/no different to twist both ends of the speaker cable wires together, to make a bigger wire for each terminal? Hope that made sense.

Hi, can anyone tell me what the speaker displacement of the the MAW-15 is, or should I not worry about it?

I was just curious what physical attributes you guys look for in a speaker. I know the best thing to do is listen to it, but if your not able to at the moment, what are things you can look for that indicate whether it's a quality driver, or crappy driver? Any links to sites or threads would be appreciated.

Yeah, I made the mistake of placing my 4x12 guitar cab in front of the tv, so I could jam . Lo and behold, there were two nice purple circles (the rest of the screen looked kind of greenish) when I moved it back . It went away after a couple days, though.

Yeah, that was a good review. It makes me feel even better about buying the MAW! And like you said, if I'm not that satisfied (it would have to be pretty bad for $80), I can sell it and upgrade, and I won't be out that much.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and fairly new to car audio. I happened upon this site a few days ago and saw the MAW-15's, and have read some reviews on them. I'm pretty sure I want to buy them, but I would like some input on them, first. I've been thinking about buying an IDQ15 for awhile. But, if I can pick up a sub for 1/3 of the price that sounds as good(or damn near close to it), then it's a no-brainer. I'm willing to go up to $300 for a sub. That doesn't mean, though, that I necessarily want to spend that much. I'm figuring on 500-600 wrms, and I don't want to go over 2.5 cu. ft. For the most part I'm looking for SQ. Keep in mind I'm not trying to do a competition car. If I had to give a ratio of LSQ, I'd say 70/30 SQ/SPL. I mostly listen to hard rock/metal(Tool, RATM, Deftones, Pantera, Slipknot, AC/DC etc.), so I'd like to be able to hear(and feel) every kick/bass note. I'd like it punchy, and also be able to get those low notes as well. So basically after all that, I'm just wondering how it compares to other more expensive($300 or less) subs, that take roughly the same amount of power? Thank you in advance for your responses

I regret buying an 8", because I was misinformed about sq and cone size. I regret letting a friend with "some" knowledge install my amps and sub. I regret letting a local shop tech talk me into letting him build me a ported enclosure, even though I already had a nice sealed box built for me. Needless to say, the ported box was less than stellar. I wish I could ask, because I'm going to be attempting my first build very soon.

Ok, I'm foncused . Why do you add the 600 to 3000? If they're 80% efficient, wouldn't you subtract it? Please don't think I'm trying to be a know-it-all, because I honestly have no idea. I'm just trying to understand is all.

Ok, I'm going to attempt to build a box. I was just wondering about the bracing. Basically I have two 3/4" panels I can use for bracing. Should I glue both together, to have one solid 1.5" brace. I was thinking I would mount the sub off-center, so I could put the brace more toward the center (if I do it this way). Or, should I keep the sub in the center and use a panel on both sides? Thanks for your help P.S. If you need to know specs, it will be a 15" w/ 500w in a 2 cu. ft. box

Hi, I'm getting a Mach5 MAW15(for now), and was wondering which amp you would buy, based on price/quality? I don't want to go more than $400. Precision Power PC2150RB(used, but almost new) = $260 Zapco REF500.1(new) = $380 US Amps Merlin MD22(new) = $180 US Amps Xterminator XT800.2(new) = $125 Any other recommendations are appreciated . Thanks for the input. BTW, sorry if you ask a question right away and I don't respond. I'm going to bed right now(stupid graveyards).

That's kind of what I was thinking...so, I guess I'll buy the MAW , and thanks for the input. Maybe when I have a lil' extra money(yeah like that'll ever happen), I'll go for a better sounding sub, if I'm not that satisfied.

Ok, great . Yeah, I couldn't correct you, 'cause I had no idea about them. So, if they're are an SPL sub, then they aren't for me. So now I'm wondering if the MAW's are anywhere near as accurate? I mean if they are close, I'd probably be happy with 'em, and I like saving money and finding great deals, like most people.

Hmmm....so now I'm curious about the new IXL line. Any idea on when the 15 will be released, how much power it will want, box type/size on it? Also, what is the difference between the IXL's, and the MAW's? Again, thanks for your replies
