Yes....another amp noise problem
helotaxi replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Bad component in the amp. I've got issues with my PG Son of Frank right now that are quite similar. Noise with the RCAs unplugged. Gonna send it to PG for a refurb in the next couple months. -
Hmmm... I'm not sure which to wait on now. The new Zed line or the SAX-250.2.

Any new 2008 cars your excited about??
helotaxi replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in Automotive and Performance
I wouldn't say that a Ferrari or any other car with a tight tuned suspension drives anything other than "rough" on the road. Ride comfort wasn't exactly on the list of considerations. The M- cars don't exactly ride well and they're touring cars. Even the 335ci got bad marks on ride quality compared to the G37. It's something you give up when you care more about performance. Kinda like interior noise level. The Vette has gotten much more civilized with every iteration. The same can't be said for the Porsches or many of the other European cars. The relative civility matched with the performance (especially considering the price) is why the Z06 is routinely at the top of the sports car shootouts in C&D and R&T and they state exactly that every time. The only gripe I've heard on the '08s is the quality of the seats. Get a set of custom upholstered Recaros and call it good. Until he Cayman gets some balls or Ferrari makes a car that goes for less than $100k, the Vette is going to continue to be the best bang for the buck performance car out there. I'd still buy an Exige but that's just me, I don't care about top speed or ride quality. -
I know many are wondering, What the 250.2 update?
helotaxi replied to theothermike's topic in Sundown Audio
Damn. Here I was having fun poking him in the eye and someone had to just go and ask the question... That's good news though, Jacob. Any idea on pricing yet? I need to know how much to have laying around for the pre-order. -
(Amp Guts) Help with noise **PICS**
helotaxi replied to static's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The amp is just noisy. It happens. The trick is to play music. No more hiss. -

Four. Two of them never used. The other two used for a couple months.

How to Create a High-Def speaker for under a buck.

Like all their other posts, it's total BS. Why would it work? -

Just like the Vette smokes every other car costing less than half as much as it does (and some costing significantly more) in every regard. Two aspects the GT can't compare are availability and affordability, though. I could buy a Vette an a Viper for what I'd pay for a GT...if I could find one. Not one in Vegas. Pretty significant for a city with multiple Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls, and even a Saleen dealer. Every one of the 5-6 Chevy and Dodge dealers have a handful of Vettes or Vipers in the showroom. -
If you want multiple subs, you're gonna give up most of the rear area. No way around it other than lots of creativity and cutting. I believe in plenty of headroom on the mids and highs, but 600w per driver is a total waste. If space is at a premium, I'd steer away from the McIntosh amps for the simple reason that they are immense for their power output. You need more efficient power packaging. Active filtering makes this even more important becase you will need lots of channels. 200W per driver should be plenty to make your ears bleed. For processing, don't bother with the DQS. AudioControl isn't what they used to be and the unit just isn't that flexible. I'd look at the H701 from Alpine. Add a second if you need more output channels. Actual mid/high drivers are a matter of preference more than anything else.

Two of these would be great in the doors on a SAX-250.2...oh yeah it isn't out yet cause someone is making subs...

You're talking about a really complex build. Use PVC. Much easier and more predictable results.

Laughing stock of the internet..you gotta see this thread

Such a friendly, educated and mature group there. Reminds me of the typical denizens of the Lounge at ca.com -
I'd be more concerned with the 150lb+ deer landing in my lap than just the antlers. As for the second part, a deer died there, too. You think his buddies are coming back after they saw what happened to him?!?

In-depth way of calculating the required length of a flared port
helotaxi replied to DevilDriver's topic in Technical Info & How To's
Big box + small port + medium tuning = short port. -
Shouldn't that be "radius". The strand has a skin all the way around. Makes your point even better. 3/4" thick single strand to have an effect at 60Hz. Almost a 1/16" to have an effect at 10kHz. That's some thick ass wire!
-
I have some that I might part with for the right price.
-
Why do you need a baffle inside the box? I would use PVC for the ports so after accounting for the displacement of hte port and subs and calculating what you need in the way of port length and diameter and box volume, the build is just like a sealed box.

what's a good audio site that shows sales reports?
helotaxi replied to king alpha's topic in General Audio
Google would be your best bet. I'm not sure that you'd be able to find market share or anything of that sort. As far as gross sales and balance sheets, they should be publicly available. I think most oll of the companies that you mentioned are publicly traded so they have to release that info. -
LOL

Budget? Number and size of subs? Level of experience doing custom work for the front stage? Amount of power you want to run? Amount of space you'll be willing to sacrifice for the install?

fogate 3sixty.2
helotaxi replied to 99dango's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'd go about getting better speakers first. -
Jacob, these are really nice and all, but it seems you've gotten sidetracked away from getting me my SAX-250.2. You're my amp hookup since Zed is otherwise occupied with a paying job (can't say I blame Steve on that one) and here I find you going off into left field with this sub stuff...

Glad I brought it to your attention then... E-mail back up? Got a question about some X series and a local pick-up in Vegas. I sent you an e-mail about it the other day, just wondering if I should resend it?
