Running at

Running it that low, if it will even do it on a daily basis, will cause it to run hotter than it was designed. Excessive heat will shorten the life of any amp. -
Impossible to say without looking at the setup/dissecting the amp.

They did better than UCLA or Michigan though didn't they?
-
It happens, yes. The channels each have their own circuitry. Wouldn't be unusual for there to be a bad component in only one channel. I would think that both channels having problems would be unusual unless the problem was the power supply.

Design Silverado - 2 Icon 10's Ported

Every T-port I've seen has the center section 2x the width of the the side sections. That's the only way to maintain the tuning. -
Rated power has nothing to do with mechanical power handling. I've got a pair of the neo motored 6x9s that I'm going to be trying as midbasses in the front doors of my truck. I'll give a review once they're installed. The ones I have should resist cone flex pretty well seeing as they have what appears to be a flat ABS diaphragm with pretty substantial ribs on the back. Makes for a nice shallow driver, too. The problem with the 6x9s is that they're not standard 6x9 size. They won't drop in to factory spot. You'll need to make adapters.

Well, there's one humiliating loss for the Suckeyes. If they end up in a BCS bowl after that...
-
Assuming that the box is the right size, the 10s have the potential to have less distortion at a given output compared to the single 12. The reason is that they have a fairly substantial advantage in cone area and thus the subs would not have to move as far to get the same level of output compared to the single 12. Additionally they would suffer less from power compression because the power is divided among 3 coils instead of all going to one.

Just making sure wiring them together like that won't hurt the remote gain circuit in the amps themselves.
-
Is there an easy way to make one of the wired remotes into a master volume control for all of my 100.2s? My HU doesn't have a knob. I like knobs.

Looks like they're made in a mold with blown chop. Easy to reproduce, cheap to make after making the mold, comes out perfectly smooth on the side nearest the mold without bondo. Exactly how boats are made. JL used to have a tutorial on their website on how to do this. Gonna guarantee that custom work will cost considerably more because it's gonna take a lot more labor. For prefabs, they do look great.

Really pretty for an SPL install. What's the thing below the port?

watts vs. true watts

Who's going to complain? The CEA "requirements" aren't realstic and failure of an amp to meet its specs by amateur testing can easily be played off by the company as the failure to meet the correct test conditions (14.4 V is the CEA standard after all). Compliance is voluntary and there is no independent testing done to confirm compliance. Hardly sounds like a reliable standard to me. -
Ohio handed OSU that game on silver platter and they still had trouble. USC is going to pound the crap out of them next week. UF's O didn't look that good until the 4th when they finally figured Miami's D out and wore them down. The biggest difference between their performance and that of OSU is that Miami is actually a decent team and UF's D totally shut Miami down. OSU's defense looked weak. Really weak. I hope ECU continues to have a strong season. Yet another case for the stupidity of preseason polls. And then we have the anti-SEC bias rearing its head with UGA winning and dropping out of number 1 last weekend. That never happened to OSU when they just eked out wins against unranked teams...if OSU holds their place in the top 5 after their performance...
-
What a lineup on TV today...and it proves my point better than I could ever about what's wrong with the polls. Let's see. We have OSU against nobody. We have Michigan against nobody. And lest we forget, Notre Dame against nobody. Oregon State v. Penn State might be a good game. Is anybody playing a real game this week? If the answer is 'NO' then why do we have to be subjected to OSU and Michigan? Even two unranked teams playing what might be a competitive game would be better than this.
-
Looking forward to UF v. Miami. They haven't played each other in the regular season in my memory. UF should roll 'em pretty good. Miami hasn't been really good in a long time.

Tweet crossover point depends on the tweeter. There are some that can handle a lower point than 2k. IB is infinite baffle. By definition this is mounting a driver on a baffle without a true enclosure behind it. In a true IB setup, the Q of the system is the same as the Qts of the driver. The amount of space required for that is dependent on the driver in question.

Throwing around some ideas for an enclosure

I've used the first setup in the past. Worked very well in a cut-through. I'd recommend a cut-through instead of taking out the rear window, FWIW. -
Stock vs stock I would take a g37 over a g35. But with just a few bucks in parts g35 > g37. The G35 is so damn sexy looking. IMO the 37 just took the 35 to the next level. If all I cared about was going fast I'd save a ton of money and get a 350Z (the 370Z is due out a the beginning of the year and will be unveiled in Nov). The Infiniti is all about being just a really nice car. Lowering it, putting much bigger rims on it, etc... just takes away from what IMO are the greatest strengths of the car.

The easiest way to get over that obsession is to look at a DNX-8120. You'll forget all about that DDX. actually i found out the DDX is the same unit as the DNX - navigation. EXACTLY. But it's all about the navigation...actually the wife insisted that I get the unit with the nav.

GOt the 1911 back from the gunsmith. Spent the afternoon fitting a highrise beavertail and applying the new finish. Really happy with the finish. The satin black with stainless trigger, hammer, barrel bushing, grip safety and mainspring housing and rosewood and black rubber grips looks really nice. Considering taking the slide in to get stripped as well. Not sure what color I'll do the slide. Need to get an ambi safety and tweak the hammer/grip safety clearance a little and she should be GTG.

I fell in love with the G35 coupe when I took my wife in to look at the sedan (which we got for her in black). If we didn't need a truck of some sort I'd be driving an '08 G37 right now.
