Ok, update time. I ran an rca, and it works, I just have to go into the setup menu and switch inputs if I want to listen to radio. I think I'm REAL close on my eq/xover ass well. My stage is up in the middle of the windshield from the upper 1/4 of the dash, and hardly drops all the way to the sides. My sub blends very nicely now, overall I am very impressed with this thing. I have only one problem. When I had my 2 100.2's running dual mono, I had very little hiss. Now that I am running each in stereo, which in turn dropped the power, I have alot more hissing. My gains are not very high(maybe 1/3 of the way up), it's not rca related, I think it's just my amps. My thought is to get another pair of 100.2's and run 1 amp to each speaker, unless there is some kind of noise filter/ component that will help me out. Any advice guys?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What kind of car? I have an 18 firing up in my '07 cx-7, works fine for me. Tried it firing back, sounded great, but really started shaking the hell out of the hatchback.

Well, the 701 is in, and I am amazed at the control I have. I still have some tuning to do, probably for the next month or so! Found some nasty rattles in my doors (gotta love that eq). One question that I think I know the answer to. I have a fiber optic running from my h/u to the 701, and it plays fine on cd(havent tried dvd, but I will assume it works good too). When I switch to FM, no sound. Do I have to run an rca for the radio too? Also, on time alignment: I am running 2way active fronts. The way I read the manual is that I measure distances between the closest and farthest to my head, and then add time alignment only to the closest side... does that sound right? As it stands, I have 1.15 ms to my left tweet, and 1.10ms to my left woofer. I ran out of time tonight, but I think I may add a few ms to the right tweet as well. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW, thanks Neon for the tip on monoprice, awesome deal.. $4.73 for a 12ft fiber optic cable!!

I just pulled the trigger and the 701 and the controller are on the way. Wiring wise, I should only need to get a fiber optic cable, right? I have 5 sets of nice rca's, so I'm covered with that I think.

It's hard to say, I havent personally played with an rlp18, and I don't know what kind of gain you get by going ported. My setup only hits 138.5 legal, and that with an AA havoc 18, and an saz-1500 d@1 ohm. If I were to go to 2 18's and double the power, but staying sealed I wouldnt expect more than 6 db in my setup.
-
Also Fs on the tweet is 850hz, so I should maybe look at ~1700 hz for my xover point?
-
Yeah Neon, I'm getting the controller too. I was thinking about starting high and going down. As far as the xover frq is concerned, it freaked me out a little as well when the tech told me that. I even asked him if he was sure, and he said yes, that is where the tweet is highpassed at. I'll probably end up somewhere in the 1.2-2k range on it. Should I let the woofer roll off naturally, or play with the low pass on it too? Thanks for any help guys.

You may not gain any spl, or you might even lose a little by going sealed, but I think that your bass will definitely tighten up, and sound much better overall.

should be last question i hope before i start my install tomorrow

If you've got the room, sure. It's just that much more power for your system. -
What kind of power are you pushing to those things? I have to assume that this is not your first system, so what were you wanting when you got the 18's? Were you wanting to be heard from 12 blocks away, or do you just want a very bass heavy LSQ type system. Those 18's should get very loud sealed with the recommended power, I have an AA Havoc 18 sealed, and it's a low end beast.

Any CES Processor news?

I'm in the market for a new processor, and I'm hoping a new one came out, or got updated. Any news? -

Also, on a side note, the p880 prs... Pioneer says it can run a dvd player. If you hook up a dvd to it, does it use the 880's dacs, or the dvd players? And will all the sound come through the 880 so I could use the eq's, xovers etc? -
I hear the 100.2 puts out around 110-120 per channel @ 4 ohms. I'm running mine dual mono, so I get ~400 per side to my comps.
-
To the op's original question: I decided to go with 2 100.2's. I wanted more power than the 100.4 could give me, also, if you have a processor and want to go active, IMO, the 100.2's are more versatile. Downside is more room used, more wire.

Processor dilemma(360.2 vs h701)
cx-7heaven posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I want to install a processor, Have seen the 701 in action(didnt get much play time tho). I have not been able to screw around with a 360. Does anybody have any experience with these two units? I was leaning towards the alpine, mainly for the digital input. Is the digital that important, or not? Thanks for any help -
Processor dilemma(360.2 vs h701)
cx-7heaven replied to cx-7heaven's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would have to buy the controller/palm with either unit. I do have optical out though, the reason I was leaning towards the alpine is to use the dac on it, rather than the one on my jvc. I'm sure the Alpine dac is of a much higher quality. -
Just wanted to give a public thank you for the amazing customer service!! The amps showed up today, a couple days before I expected them to. I will always give you the first shot at any audio business I may have in the future( and I know I will;)). Just got my 2 sax-100.2's to go with my saz-1500d. I'm gonna try to run them in dual mono to my Diamond d-971 components, I think that will drop my noise levels wayyyy down, and really help my staging/imaging as well. Again, Jacob... THANK YOU!!!

I've heard them before, they don't sound wierd to me, but I wasnt able to a/b it either. Sounded fine though.

I am running rookie sq in iasca. I was wondering if they have any rules in the sq division regarding vehicle builds. Specifically on caps, # of amps, wiring. I know they do for idbl, but I cant find anything on their website about sq builds. Thanks for any help.

Hehe, Ramos, thats funny. I just looked through the rules again, but nowhere does it state what equipment I can and can't have. Still waiting for an answer I guess.

Ok, with your scenario, the only thing that would change is efficiency of your amp, and current draw. Here is why people go to very low ohms: Say you have a 2 ohm sub, 1000 rms rating and an amp that does 1000 at 2. You decide later on that you want more bass, so you add another sub. That gives you a 1 ohm load for your amp to drive. Hopefully, your amp would be 1 ohm stable at this point. The perfect amp would double it's power every time you cut the ohm load in half. So the same amp that was doing 1000@2 will do 2000@1. Twice the power, twice the sub=more bass!
-
Also, I remember Jake saying that he personally tests each and every refurb/used amp before he puts it up for sale.

I have a refurb I bought~5 mos ago, still goin strong..........

Devildriver, you know anything about this?
