Heya Mike, I was wondering if you saw my pm. If not, I was wondering if you could pm me on a purchase of 8 of these things. Thanks Rob

None taken, I just wanted to catch you before you make the same mistake that most people in car audio make, which is to equate size of the sub with sq of the sub.... i.e. 8's and 10's=best, 15's and 18's=worst. I couldnt break 144 with those 2 18's off of 2 saz1500d's, but damn did they sound great.
-
You need to educate yourself a little more, the problem is that most people don't use the larger subs in an sq build, you only see them in spl builds. My 2 18's never got sloppy, even on old school metallica, or any other speed metal I put through them.

In the right sized box, the 15 will sound just as good as 12's. I had 2 18 AA Havoc sealed, and people couldnt believe how amazing they sounded, picked up all the notes from any music I put through them. I would do the mids and highs first though, simply because depending on what you get and how you set it up, you may only need 1 10 to fill the bottom end. Plus, if you are serious about sq, your mids may cost you more than your bass will, by the time you have everything installed.

Old style or new style?

Yes, Jacob do this. I am wanting to trade in my pair of 1500d's for a little more power. It would bring you more business, I see alot of people that want sundown, but claim they cant afford it, si they buy powerbass or some other stuff.

Since you just got the sub, talk to them at FI, they may do a warranty recone for you. You just pay shipping.

look at the tinsel leads. see the patch of fabric on the cone above them? look at the patch, does it have some kind of imprint from the tinsels on it? If so, it is simply lead slap... kinda common with FI subs.

Not to steal a thread... but what is the trade up program and how does it work? Edit:nm, I found the info in th HAT forum.

It's been a while since I posted anything on here, been kind of busy and on c.a.f. Had to get rid of the cx-7, turbo went out at 25k and mazda wouldnt warranty it, so I traded it for an 08 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab. Had a baby on 18 Dec, Samantha Anne, 8 lbs even 20.5 inches long and gorgeous! On to some pics, the build is still in progress, so excuse the mess: Samantha approves!

I got the woofer pods done and ready to sand today, and started on the tweeter pods: I used some plastic tops off of some spray cans I had and cut the ends off at an angle: I then wrapped them in some tshirt pieces, and dipped them in resin: Im getting the woofer pods to my buddy at work, hes a body guy to get them sanded and ready for paint.

LOL ya I got lucky with this one! C-section ftmfw!!

I believe car audio magazine did a review on the se's, they seemed to like them quite a bit.

It' will probably be a month or so before I am completely done.... I have a neck fusion surgery coming up on the 15th Jan, and I cant lift for chit right now, so the sub box will have to wait. 2 Critical Mass UL12's are going in a ~3cu ft sealed triangular box right behind the drivers seat. The olballanchain wont let me do a blow through.... gotta wait a year or two for that.

Thanks Duran

I have loved my 18's since I got them, but due to a baby being on the way, I have to get rid of the 150 pound 12 cu.ft monster in the back of my little XUV. I'm replacing them with......(drum roll please)...... A pair of Critical Mass UL 12's! I hope to god that they fit the bill for me output and soundwise.

Yummy!!

3 15's in an optimum enclosure should be louder than 2 18's in a subpar enclosure. There are some 18's that will work @6 cubes ported. My havoc 18's do come to mind for that application, even though they are not "spl" focused drivers. I am sure there are other 18's out there that would work well in an enclosure of that size. You just have to investigate, and see what you come up with. I'm sure there are a few people on here that know the subs well enough to point you in the right direction. Thanks btw

holy runonsentence batman do you know anything about punctuation because its really hard to understand what youre saying when you talk like this you know what i mean and i like to run my subs to super loud deeebbeeeezz because its awesome but dont let the cops catch me cuz i get a ticket and i got no moneyz left cuz i spent it all on my moofers so yeah maybe you can use punctuation next time mkay

Hes only got 5 cubes to work with. I dont think 2 q18's will work in that.

Luckily, spl and sq are NOT mutually exclusive...... at least in a daily setup. As far as your bass issue goes, Are you running sealed for any particular reason? 2 Ported 12's will probably give you more spl than 4 sealed ones( in the right box). That 18 BL is a monster, A guy I saw at a comp hit 151 with 2 of them ported around 32 hz as well. I would think 1 ported should hit the mid to high 140's. Step up to a btl and double your power is another thing I would look at to get louder.
-
If you were to increase your power from 1200 for the pair to 2000 for the pair, you are only adding about 2 db of gain, and thats in a perfect scenario. In reality your ears may not even notice a difference, or very little difference. The suggestion on chnging your enclosure is your best bet for more loudness.

It amazes me when people say "I want more sound quality" , and then they throw a pair of big subs in thier car, put 3 kwatts to them, and run speakers off the H.U. How in the world are you going to get anything but bass with 22 watts running to your mids, and 3000 to your subs???? I dont mean to flame you dude, but really. You have the 360 already... use it. Buy a good 2 or 4 channel amp, they are only a couple hundred bucks. You wont regret it.
