Just looked on the site...20" forged aluminum. They look great too.

Doesnt the srt8 already come with 18 inch rims? If so, why would you get rid of them? I believe the stock rims are chrome too(or polished aluminum)

I'm going about 5 sealed, maybe a bit bigger if I have the room.... Must measure stuff!!!

100% agree!!!! There are some cars to do stuff like that to, and some you dont. IF it's a true SS, PLEASE dont tear it up. There arent that many left.

Scot, Is the cone as smooth and sexy as it looked in the original AA pics? Are you going sealed or ported with yours?

Havoc looks much healthier.... good news for me since I just bought one.

Yeah, good point. But I have heard some AA stuff in the past, and that havoc just looks like a lot of fun! Also, I just bought the havoc, so there will be a review up soon!! -
I have been shopping a bunch of different subs to upgrade to. I have locked my budget to 450 MAX. I have been looking at 4 12" type r's. Just recently, I got more interested in 2 15 type r's. Now I am between the 2 15 type r's and an aa havoc 18. I will be running small sealed- 4 cu ft. right now, probably get another cube with a few mods to my box. I have 4 10" mtx thunder 5500 at this time, and I listen to mostly rock/metal, 70's,80's and a lot of Pink Floyd. I want: 1) better low freq extension, 2) keep the tightness that I have right now 3)more spl. I have an saz1500d for power. Any honest opinions/recommendations plz? Pricing: 4 12 type r: 440 shipped 2 15 type r:410 shipped 1 havoc 18: 369 shipped Any help would be appreciated!

Hey jimj, actually, I got my front stage covered too. I'm running alpine type x 6.5 comps right now, but have a set of diamond d971 under the bed, waiting for a home;). My thinking parallels yours -

I'm really leaning towards it, it is so damn sexy!! The price seems right as well, especially for what you get! -

Ok, this is the kind of stuff I need to know, as I'm unfamiliar with any of the products. So you think the rl-p over the havoc? Has anybody even bought a new havoc 18 yet? Thanks -

Money isn't the highest priority, sq is. I would prefer to have a high quality sub and pay a bit more than have an unknown sub. Thanks (can't spell today ) -

Also on the table is the RL-p 18, and any other sq 18's that would fit in a small sealed box. Thanks again -
Which coil wiring setup should I use?

Which coil wiring setup should I use?
cx-7heaven replied to cx-7heaven's topic in Advanced Discussion
Thanks for the diagram jon, but I know how to wire it. My question was if the way you wired it( with each pair of coils wired in series) would be any better for output, or sq versus wiring each pair of coils parallel, then each pair of subs in series( 2 ohms per pair) then each pair of subs in parallel to the amp to achieve 1 ohm at the amp. Like this: sub1: coil1pos to coil2 pos, coil1 neg to coil2 neg...1ohms.....wire to sub2 in series to get 2 ohms for the pair..... wire to other pair in parallel to achieve 1 ohm. So, a parallel/series setup vs a series/parallel setup. Thanks -

The amount of wiring isnt an issue for me, just the performance of the system is my number one concern. -
I need a little advice on a sub choice. I'm running 4 mtx 10's sealed right now. They are in 2.04 cu.ft gross per pair. I am wanting to upgrade to a single pair of 15's. I don't want to rebuild the box, just replace the mounting baffle. I am having a hard time finding a pair that will work in my sealed requirements. The only thing I have found is alpine type r 15's. I am interested in getting lower and louder than my 10's with good sq. I listen to mostly rock, metal, Lots of pink floyd, 80's hair bands, with some rap, techno. Any advice would be appreciated. Power comes from an saz-1500d, so 1 ohm operation is preferred. Thanks

does anybody have experience with the fi-q 15's in a sealed box?
-
Well, in my install the woofer is down low in the oem position, and the tweet is up high on the door panel, and the tweets are pointed towards the windshield on the adjustable mount. I just recieved the d971's, paid 340 shipped, so I got a very good deal. It will be a while before they get installed, but I will post up with some results.

I have a set of alpine type x 6.5 comps in my car right now. I like the sound of them, but they dont handle quite enough power to get the loudness I want. I am considering either the boston z6's or the diamond d971's- both on ebay ~500 shipped. Has anybody out there heard these 2 sets of speakers to do a comparo? I would do a listen myself, but I dont really want to drive 4 hours to get to a shop that carries high end like that. I have had boston before and loved the sound( pro's and the old rally's). I have heard very good things about the diamonds but never actually heard any. As I said I like the sound of the alpine's, but would like a little more brightness on the tweeter, and a punchier midbass. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

About the Havocs, will the 15's work in sealed boxes, and what is recommended sealed enclosure size(or range)? Thanks

Remote gain knob question
cx-7heaven posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Question for yall: I just got my saz-1500d, hooked it up, all is good. With my previous amp, I use a kicker kx3 xover for the linedriver/bass knob features on it. Just for kicks, I hooked up the kicker bass knob to the sundown amp. It works fine, but when I turn the knob up over halfway, rather than increase gain, it decreases gain. It does get to the same volume level that the sundown knob gets to, I'm just wondering if it will hurt anything to use the kicker as it is already cut into my dash. Thanks for replies. -
Where would someone go to listen to or buy the hertz speakers? The website shows no distributors in usa or canada.
-
Seems like nice stuff, but I don't think I want to go with hertz at all. One thing I like about the diamonds is the slightly larger midbass driver, and the metal tweet. Any idea which of the 2 systems I mentioned would give the best detail? Thanks
