Hi, I'm looking to buy a pair of Older arsenal 15's, I want to go small sealed with them... what are the sealed box specs on them please? Thanks
-
Yeah, thanks Devil, you really helped me out on that. See this is my first time messing with an 18, I've been into the caraudio thing since the early 90's, and played with 10-12-15" subs, but soon found that 10's were where it was at for me. But now, I wanted to get deeper, without having 6 or 8 subs in my trunk, so the 18 definitely fits my bill.

Just ordered a Havoc 18 to replace my 4 tens. I will try to do some kind of review when I get it, although the only thing I have to compare it to will be my 4 tens. Wish me luck!!!

Home depot can do the cuts, I would keep it simple for them though. Try not to make too many angles and such. BTW, you should also consider ascendant audio, I'm a rock and roll guy, just bought a havoc 18", and loving it. I upgraded from 4 10's, and not looking back. Enclosure size is the MAIN determining factor to get the sound you want out of these type of subs...when you are talking sealed. I do not run ported, never liked them, so I have no suggestions for that route, but some of the other guys here do. Good luck

Ok, after messing around with the sub for a couple days, I have some info for all interested parties. My original box(sealed) was 7.57 cu ft gross.... 7.0 net after bracing and drvr displacement. It goes super low with authority in that size box, however for my taste not enough punchiness. Today, I filled the box with some wood scrap on the order of 2.1 cu ft, and the sub really loved that! It became punchier, with very little sacrifice to the low-low end. So, this weekend, I'm gonna cut down the box to 5 cu ft, and play with driver facing as well. Stay tuned to this channel........

Future star: I'm loving the havoc, it doesnt have quite as much upper subbass punch as my 4 tens did, probably due to the fact that the sub needs to break in a little, and the box is quite large for low freq extension. But it slams on the lower bass!! Flexes the windshield something aweful!!! Installer: Electrical is holding up fine, let me share something with ya. I spoke with Ohio Generator some time ago about an alt upgrade. He(the owner) told me that the cx-7 has a new type of alternator called the pd drive. The alt is run through the ecm, and it will direct current to where it is needed, meaning that you can get almost full output at idle. the only problem is, if you over stress it, the ecm will shut down the car. I have never shut down the car, and I've run that system at idle with ac on, at night! It is a 110amp alt from the factory, so the setup you have in mind willl work wonderfully. The car is actually fairly audio friendly. There are nice spots to run wire under and through the car, the batt terminals are set up for hooking pwer and grounds up. The only real PITA I found is the front doors-running wire to them. It SUCKS trying to get the wire into the door from the car. Thanks for the comments guys

Hers my cat lovin on the havoc: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...si&img=2674 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...si&img=2676 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...si&img=2677 Build log is in the album and also in the build logs section. It is an amazing sub.... I have never seen that much window flex before in my life! It will be a while until I get the full potential out of it, as break in will take some time.

I have a set of the 6.5's, 4 inch and the midbass kit. I have the 6.5's in my car now, in the process of replacing them with diamond audio d971(7inch). The sq on the alpines is excellent, the tweeter is awesome, however as neon said, they leave something to be desired in the bass department. Also, do NOT drive them with more than recommended power if you cross over at anything less then 85hz, as the woofer will start to get smelly. They are very accurate sounding speaks, but if you want a really loud, crank'em up set of comps, you should keep shopping. If you want excellent sound, at moderate to high listening levels get the alpines. One more thing, if you do want to get the alpines and crank them up real good, get the 4 inch(spx-137r), and the Midbass kit(spx-mb17). Adding the mb kit will increase the overall power handling of the system, but it is a 3 way kit, so you will have to have some experience or a good installer to make them work for ya. Good Luck

In that case, I would keep the stockers.... simply because it may actually help you resell it later on. Just toss them in the garage or shed... you never know when a spare set of 20's will come in handy
