Some great excursion videos of an SI Magnum 12"
tryatt replied to -SuperiorSounds-'s topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
by the way dude, you have the most AMAZING car B) [/off topic] im now running a HC12 off it @1ohm, and (apart from sounding like ass in comparison, and not being anywhere near as loud) there are no issues whatsoever apart from hitting the backplate it runs @1ohm like it was made to -

its pretty box dependant though. ask max, i had it in a bandpass box, and i couldnt turn it up at all, it was drowned out by the midbass before the amp went into protection! you could always buy two 1500/1501bds? one per coil -

yep no heat issues or anything. cant burp it though, gotta roll it for SPL'ing oh yeah, and the reason that magic tree is moving so frantically in the second video is because the port is pointing straight at it and with it being a slightly undersized port(higher air velocity) its just being blown about! lol! kinda makes it a little less impressive! ! sorry! -
2) as a general rule, most people will halve the power handling for just one coil.. but i've found that you can usually put a little more in as there isnt so much heat build up
-
Bill, you know roughly how much power my mag was getting.. so 2kw should be fine it may have been a little more than 2kw and the sub is still mint
-
i think Bill is more than aware of what a mag can do.. and is aware that 1500w is enough for them... but Bill doesnt just want "enough" hes a crazy mofo you could probably give him a sub with a 5kw rms rating, and he'd probably run it with 3 times that just for fun

im gonna miss that sub -
just to keep you guys updated.. i've heard the box now(albeit breifly) and in terms of SQ, it'l make your jaw drop.. its completely transparent, its tight, and its hard to localise the bass coming from the boot oh, and it drops too.. its ironically better for SQ than it is for streetbass though! more testing to come will keep you updated..
-
i promised you guys this AGES ago.. well, its finally been built and... it doesnt fit! LOOOL! oh well, i cant wait to hear it anyway, heres some pics - http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/showthread....4648#post964648 il report back when i get my headunit back, then i can have a listen

single 12" magnum in a 1.7cu ft tuned to 30hz box with a RF 1500BD running at 1ohm (somewhere in excess of 1.5kw, estimated 2k) in a 7seater SUV 139.3db with more to come, as i didnt even turn it all the way up, and i swept it rather than burping it http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/league/ rank 3rd in class 4
-
i thought Hammer H1s did 1500w rms@1ohm? although a few people have tested them and got around 2-2.5kw out of them
-
they are absolutely DESTRUCTIVE with 2kw!!! :punch:
-
ello dude (its me Tej from TA ) just to give you some sort of idea of how bad these bad boys are, i'm running mine off an RF1500bd which does about 1600w @2ohm, but i'm running it at 1ohm (i've been told to expect around 2kw) and the magnum holds out much longer than the charging system can they really can take a beating :punch: catch me at the next meet if you want a demo

a change in amp?
tryatt replied to TwistedMovistar's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
be careful, i have an SE12, and the coils look fine, yet one coil is blown and i think going from 1500w to 1800w might not be worth it? especially if your gonna loose a lot of money on the bx1500 when you sell it. but imo, you WILL notice the 300w difference. -
i guess you missed this thread http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=1278 it is a cool looking box though, and sounds DAMN nice!
-
my box should be done in a couple week
-
i'l keep you guys updated at the mo its in a tiny tiny box (something like 1.7cu ft tuned to about 30-32hz) and its really lacking the low rumbley stuff (<35hz) so i guess the sooner a new box is built, the better
-
some crazyness for you crazy guys!!! http://www.acidtrax.net/junk/talkaudio/magnum.MPG btw. cant remember who it was, but i was meant to keep them updated on the bandpass box, due to really sh1tty weather here in the UK, i've not been able to construct it but i will report back when its done.

cant beleive i've been overlooking this thread for the past few days! cant beleive it :thud: jealousy really is a cruel thing
-
no-one like my vid then :thud:

yeah, i've gota say, they sound awesome playing metal. electric guitars and kick drums sound absolutely AMAZING
-
just wanna know, im using no subsonic and the box is currently tuned to 30hz(until the new bandpass box is built) and with about 1k+ it seems ok, i've never had the guts to turn it up too high though, theres about 1.5kw+ on tap ps. is it true that they are run in with 2.5k in free air before they leave the factory?
-
i agree, its only on the odd song, but you do get really low stuff in some songs which you miss when you switch on the s'sonic
