Need some help picking quality subwoofers

My gains were actually set by one of my friends who used to work in car audio. Not really sure how it was set. They were set a long time ago. Any suggestions on how to re-adjust the gains? What is the best way to test the box for leaks?

Need some help picking quality subwoofers

The Subs are around 4 years old. I actually don't believe it was ever from over excursion. When they were in the warranty period I went back to where they were installed and they said it was just the sub being faulty. The RMS on the ID's is 250 Watts. My Amp was never put above 60%. I am not 100% on the connections since I did not do the install. I had a professional place do it. I have looked at the connections to the amp and they look clean to me. I am wondering if it could be the box that was causing issues.
  3. Hello everyone. I am looking to get your guys advice and see what kind of suggestions you have on subs. Right now I have a Phoenix Gold 500.2 Amp benched at 530 watts. I was running 2 12" Image Dynamic ID's. 4 Ohm. I am running just a standard box that was sold to me where I bought the subs. Unfortunately, I have blown both of the 12" ID's. I am not sure how because I never turn the Amp all the way up and never mess with the settings on my head unit. Maybe just cause they are 3 years old. I am wondering if you guys think I should go with 1 high quality 12" sub or just go with 2 12" subs again. I am not really looking to be super loud. I just want something that sounds clean and still hits well. I currently drive a 2003 Toyota 4Runner. I don't want to spend too much money since I already have an Amp and all the wiring in place. Thanks guys! Let me know if you need any more info. I haven't bought subs in a while so I am really not sure what is out there.
