I would have sex with that Z06... and does the grand sport has the DOHC motor like the ZR1? Love the ZR-1s heheheh. I thought the ZO6 was supposed to have pretty good handling and a completely different frame compared to the base corvette?

    Has Anyone Started Classes Yet?

Which university are you going to? If I remember correctly, the U of C at Boulder is one of the 15 best public universities in the US. Colorado School of Mines is the "university" that I attend lol. Pretty much feels like I still go to school though... no time for a social life. Oh well once I get into the real world it will be worth it. U of C grads will be bagging my groceries!!! Tell me wtf you are gonna do with a degree in underwater basket weaving? lol jk but not really... I've been up there to party a couple times since its about 15 mins away. Not a bad place, but I wouldn't wanna go to school there.

finebar, did you have to raise the seat to put that amp under there? or i guess you dont have power seats... cause there is no way i could get an amp under my seat...

I need help with an idea

So I am tired of my crappy computer speakers and i want to build an MT set myself, passive crossovers and all if I can figure out how, the soldering doesn't scare me cause I've built a headphone amp before. I want some decent cheaper components that I could use in my room maybe on my desk. I was looking at a tweet and woofer that I could use in a cabinet and then maybe in a year or two when I need to move into a new place (and need bigger home speakers) I could throw the speakers from the MT setup into my car and run active. I was looking at the mids and tweet on this page http://www.timbre-audio.com/SeasStandard.html I like those prices hahah and I know more of the cost will come from the prices of the crossover components. Other than that I would love any suggestions you guys have.. Its just the start of an idea lol Thanks

I need help with an idea

id like to do speakers under 250 including crossovers. if i dropped 120 on a pair of the Seas CA18s (thats the only price ive seen) would i have enough left over in my budget for a decent tweet and crossover? if the crossover for the Seas is easy hopefully that means cheap too. hahah. i dont have a mic or software so my measuring capabilities are non-existent right now. i have been lurking over at HTguide and am watching this thread for developments http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.ph...age=1&pp=35 also i really like the look of these from PE showcase http://www.partsexpress.com/projectshowcase/encore/index.cfm and these http://www.partsexpress.com/projectshowcase/vd/vd.htm which of those would be easier/better to run active in my car in a year or so when i need some new speakers for my living room that i dont have yet? or if i dont run them in my car which would be better to cross with a sub later down the road? thekl0wn how much did your whole MTM setup run if you don't mind me asking?

I need help with an idea

mmmk how well do you think the mid tweet you are using in your truck would do in a bookshelf setup? how would i figure out what kind of crossover i needed to build is there a guide somewhere since its not used in a kit? what kind of amp should i look for for this lil setup? im talking to a guys selling a Linn LK2 and a Alesis RA-100 amp locally.. are they decent? what names should i look for.

    Ported box for Rli-10

OK whipped up an idea for my regular cab truck... I have a sealed box right now but I'm contemplating going ported. Specs: 16.25 in^2 of port area.. 60in. port length .67 ft^3 for the woofer That should put it tuned at 32hz, according to the calculator I used online. The port is facing the passenger side of the cab, sub firing forward. Lemme know what you think. Too many bends in the tube? Too high of tuning for good sq? Not enough port surface area? Would I get alot of port noise? I seem to remember talking to Mike in an email and he said 14 in^2 was all I needed for port area. I really dont know how its possible to tune a ported enclosure to the specs that are on SS's website. The recommended ported box for the Rli-10 is .45cubes ported to 27hz.. When I plug that into a box calculator the port comes out as needing to be something like 155in long.

    Ported box for Rli-10

Yeah mathmatica is just a tool i use for now i will learn matlab in some later courses.. I am still getting a crazy retarded answer lol. mostly from the step where you multiply the 1.463 constant by 10^7*r*r ... that gives me effing 2.3168*10^36 and no other numbers in the equation can knock it down... nevermind... now im getting answers. 112 in to get to 29hz.. man thats just so effing long... but i guess that is at the .45 cubs they recommend on their site... it'll be more manageable when i up the net volume of the enclosure

    Ported box for Rli-10

lol unfortunately i have gotten good at readin equations like that... i spend way too much time using mathmatica... damn engineering school.

    Ported box for Rli-10

Wanna hook me up with the equation? hahah did you use the one on JL's site? still didnt tell me how long your port had to be to tune that low... is it a trade secret? sorry for buggin ya i just want something to compare to...
  20. Unrthdxdream

    Ported box for Rli-10

Yeah I looked at what it would take to tune lower in my first design.. And the port length was crazy... 60in is still pretty damn long and thats just for 32 hz..What are the specifics on your box? Vol for the woofer and port length? I know yours is an 8 but thats why i though id ask around here as well as over at FSC... plenty of SS guys. What calculator or equation did you use? I tried the port length equation on JL audio's site and got a retarded ass number...

    New Amp... maybe??

i dunno mrray i think i need a lil more for the sub than that... its gettin ~280 now and if i upgrade i want it to get more around 350-400.. not sure how my components would like being active either... ///M5 pointed out a couple amps to me... the Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.4 which is out of production but i really like the looks of it and then also the Kicker kx 700.5.. i would bridge 4 of the channels on the kicker down to 2 and push some serious power to my comps.. Man i just wish the PG xenon was still in production... I'm keepin my eye out for a used one though..
  22. Hey guys so heres the deal... got a DLS CA31 amp powering my whole system right now... which consists of a pair of DLS R6As for components and a Sound Splinter Rli-10 sub downfired in about .8 cubes sealed.. this is all in a regular cab truck so i was trying to save on space with an all in one amp when i built my system but the amp has been problematic... in the first month it was in a transistor went out... and now bout 10 months later it started hissing at me.. so i sent it back for repair again and half the board was fried... anyways im contemplating getting a new amp depending on how the DLS does when i get it back.. i would like a 3ch unit but my only problem is my sub is dual 4 ohms so i would need to find a 4ch amp that is 2ohm stable when bridged... or another 3 ch like this.. i think the problem is this lil DLS amp is trying to power too much... it only produces 75w rms for my speakers and 280 rms for my sub... which doesnt leave any headroom cause the speakers are rated for 90w rms and the sub can handle from 300-400w rms... anyone have any advice for an amp to power my whole system? id like to get something with some headroom this time any help would be greatly appreciated.. Walker
