I had it in the bed for the first month, but it started rusting so I moved it in the cab. The humidity down here is horrible. And it's not as loud as you would think, and it only runs for about 45 seconds at a time only after I blow the horn.
-
I've decided to move the compressor to the other side of the cab. Now i can fit a 3 cu ft box before port and displacement. So i guess i can go with a 1.2 cu ft box and maximum port area. The Sub will still be facing forward. My question's are; What is the best enclosure volume to go with after port and displacement. What is the best port area to go with considering the enclosure volume. What is the best place to fire the port, I was thinking up or side. Sorry for being lazy and not figuring this out on my own, I just figured you guys could save me some time. Thanks

Thanks for the info! I'll research aero ports when i have time. And i may move the compressor and tank. Perhaps turn it 90 degrees.
-
I downloaded the torres calculator and came up with this, The port area is only 13.5" but I won't have to 90 it anywhere.
-
So do I have to 90 it at the far end of the enclosure? And the compressor is for a train horn, I can move it if i have to.
-
I'll probably use the small section above the air compressor as part of the port and extend it as much as needed, It'll be firing to the drivers side, with the sub firing front. I think the port will have to be over 30" so should i'll have to turn it 90 degrees somewhere.

Thanks for the response, I'm thinking 33hz, I want it to get low.

I'm designing a box for a 10" sub to go behind the seat of my 1988 toyota pickup extended cab. I have an air compressor behind the drivers seat and I don't want to lose access to my jack and tools behind the passenger seat. The floor is uneven so it takes up a lot of volume. Here are pics of the area i have to work with. And here is a basic design i made on sketchup It is 1.66 cu ft before sub displacement and port. I'm looking at an fi ssd sub and a 1000w rms amp, but I'm open to other suggestions. The sub will be facing the front. I have a formula for tuning a port and I'll probably do a slot style port but I'm not sure where in the box to put the port or how much area the port should have.

That setup must be insane! My 18 got loud in a sealed box so yours has to be crazy in a ported box. The trail grapplers have surprised me in the mud, my friends who have them follow me with no issues. I like those wheels, what size are those wheels/tires? I'm guessing 22s and 35s.

Hello everybody, I'm Jarrett from Lafayette La, just thought I would introduce myself. My first car was a 1999 mitsubishi mirage. I put 2 Orion HCCA 10.4s in a custom ported box with an Orion D5000. The D5000 stopped working so I bought 2 cheap Sound Storm amps to replace it. When I started college I sold this setup for $900 Now I drive a 1988 Toyota pickup. I Had an Fi Q 18 in a sealed 5 cu ft box with a US amps MD1D. I traded this setup for these wheels and a spare tire. I enjoy wheeling this truck through the mud as much as I enjoy my bass. My next plans are to put a 10 in a ported box with enough room to fit my tools and my air compressor and 1.5 gal tank behind the seats.

Hey guys, I've decided to finally join a car audio forum and this one looked to be the most helpful. I like to build stuff and i figured this would be a good place for research/questions. Jarrett
