I removed the cross brace a while ago! hahaha, the only thing keeping it apart was the box itself. -

I've done a sealed version of this box that was not as tall, but instead deeper. It was my loudest design in my stratus, but not loud enough so I kept trying new ideas. I expect this one to really rock. -

The box is 22" tall, 24" deep, and 35.5" wide. It will house two wedges that will hold 8 speakers each, with about 2.4 cubes for each set of 8, giving them .3 cubes each, but these only need .28 each in a sealed box, and .6 recommended for a ported. If it doesn't tune right, I could seal it. I have trouble with reaching the mechanical limits on these so this small box may let me put some extra juice to them. They will see 187.5 watts right now with my saz3000d, and hopefully will have some low extension, If all works out right I may just throw another 3000d on them, but for now this will be good. -
ETA on sundown e8v.2 + general/technical questions
Totalnewbie007 replied to Totalnewbie007's topic in Sundown Audio
Thanks jacob, when you do get the raw materials, I'll need to know how to do this, or if you will put them together for a direct replacement. I'll be waiting for these -
I have the original motors and I wanted to know a few things about these puppies. 1) Are the new motors deeper (or any different at all?) allowing the coil more travel or are they close to the original E8, as I've bottomed these out and cause several mechanical failures (I will take this into consideration when I build my next box, 8-16 will be powered by a single 3000D, re-enforce the spiders, ect., design the box to prevent bottoming out, i always set subsonic, but love low extension and will likely be tuning low) 2) The spiders are wider, about all I know, are they stiffer? 3) Is the surround built to handle more travel, is it stiffer? 4) If you happen to have the specs on these with an E8 motor, much appreciated, or the specs on the new ones too. 5) Are the new coils designed to handle more watts, as the old ones were 200 watts rms? Any other information relative to this, like cutout and size of the speaker with or without gasket, pricing, ect. would be appreciated, thank you! I would like to start designing and building a new box!

ETA on sundown e8v.2 + general/technical questions
Totalnewbie007 replied to Totalnewbie007's topic in Sundown Audio
Ok So if the e8 v2 top plate is 15 mm and the v1 e8 was 8, there will be a 7mm difference. and I will need to get 7mm worth of washers (x4) and 7mm longer screws in order to align the coil in the motor? washes must be small enough to stay outside of the motor gap and may need to be sanded to achieve 7mm of thickness. I don't know the thread count of the screw but I shouldn't have a problem finding them...? -

Ok I found your proto type thread, any other information would be helpful Really all I need to know is the difference in the motors and how it will affect its performance xmax and BL, power handling ect. thankyou jacob, that and price eta as well If you don't mind!!!!! -
Can I still get recones for the E8's?
Totalnewbie007 replied to Totalnewbie007's topic in Sundown Audio
I have 16 motors, and I cant even get 4 v.1's so far. -
I've destroyed these... On one the motor broke off from the basket, so I'm looking at getting 14-18 re-cones or so...thanks jacob. I think that was the name. The bass is getting to me.

sounds good too, I can wait. -

I'll need maybe 12-14 of these. thankyou!~!!!!!! Sundown E8 Recone pictures by Totalnewbie007 - Photobucket each image has a description with addition info if needed. I can recone them, just need the soft parts That appears to be the problem. Fi or Incriminator should have parts that you can use. Of course, they probably won't be E8 parts, but at least you can find something that will fit. That sounds good, I'll give them a try and play around with some franken woofers. -

Well that sucks... have you looked around for any other cones for other 8" subs possibly fitting these motors? -
I hope so Denim. I mean, how many people can say that they have (12) 8s ported in there trunk right? Lol. Just want something that will sound great as a daily driver at high or low volumes. My RL-p really spoiled me on the sound im looking for. I can say I have 16 sealed at the moment, in a trunk.

Wow that is sick, wow what a nice build, excellent work!
-
Man, I hope it's loud enough with the speaker right behind your head. I would laugh if the surround tore, and the cone shot out and smacked you right in the back of your head.
-
how many achievement points did you get for that boner?

Those look like custom RCA's If they are, where did you get your materials from (wire, terminals, ect?), and how did you wire the shield plus any other notes of necessary connections made to insure no intrusion of interference (alt whine). I have 4 Amps to wire up, and 6 channels from the Head Unit (3 sets of RCA's), (1-L, 1-R RCA to the Sub woofer Amp, Then I have 3 amps that will need a 1-L, 1-R Tweeter (1 RCA set Split to 3 amps) And 1-L ,1-R Mid range, split to all 3 amps again. 4 channels that split to 3 amps (each amp gets 4 channels), and 2 channels to the single subwoofer amp. -
Yeah it is pretty sweet. On a side note, I just finished the last two boards for the ports. just got to put the port brace in and finish the top/cut the holes for the speakers gonna let the glue dry.. This thing is freakin huge!! For 8" woofs that is. My boy painted Sundown on the top/baffle in art class. I will post the pic later with the rest of the pics of the box. Thinking about painting the port path of the box. Any benefits? or should I not bother? No not really, just paint what is visible.
