im a dual major physics and EE at RPI in NY... hopefully i will get my masters in acoustical eng. i had pretty much the same plan i hope it works out for all you guys who want to get into it... but its damn hard i wont lie i already built a couple amps in studios modeled after the late great rf bd1000's... but mine were only capable of around 150 watts :-( first try... not that bad

why not just buy a JBL 6000 for $7000 instead? but im also sceptical of those numbers
-
not in most cases its not necessary... but the ability to put on a more powerful magnet or a customized magnet might catch on sooner or later... it doesnt really matter i only designed it for designing purposes... i have no intention of actually making woofers

im partial to 6.5 he's myself... pretty similar... and cheaper

haha thanks... but i still gots plenty to learn... then i have plenty to invent

this is one of the basket designs i worked with... also notice the unique magnet housing... replacable mags and yes its patent pending so dont replicate! but the basket design is all yours if you want... i dont think you would though thats not my final bakset design

Stealth Installs in Wheel Wells Good Idea?
moonswordrai replied to despot's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i put a pair of he 10's in the side wells in a 86 mercedes 190E 16 valve... dood didnt want to impede his trunk much and it turned out cool... its near impossible to go ported so sealed worked just fine you can do some clever MDF manipulation or glass it if you want to... when it comes down to it, glass and wood would be your best option -
what do you guys know about he new H2 Orions?
moonswordrai replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
yea its a sick woofer... sic basket, sic t/s, and sic power handling... but its not sick enough for me to ever consider -
tune it lower than 35 if its an RFR, 29-33 for a daily if its an RFD, 33-38 is just fine i would do the port calc for you but i dont know the rest of the dimensions... sorry

i dont blame you! i do it all the time... i just love it when someone gives me a second opinion and i was right all along!
-
ahh a smart customer... getting a second opinion on my plans eh? and to the person who said 8 cubic, they are rfd's obviously based on the fact that they are DVC 4 ohm but sure someone else try and calculate that tuning freq... i will give you bonus points if you are close within .5 Hz
