I just wanna hear this in person if i can some day. I know this will be a brutal setup moving some air.

    4 DP21 Wall Build

O cool. What made you decide to go that route? I chose that route because I didn't want it to be so tall and so deep. With it like that I still have a few inches on the side of the box plus I will also have more room for the the sound to travel over the box. I also have some mids and highs that I have mounted in the air above where the box will be. I have never really been a fan of door speakers and being that its a conversion van with the high ceiling i can place things where they are unobstructed making them sound a lot better imo. It kinda like being in a concert hall where all of your mids and highs are off the floor and directed towards the ear and the bass is on the floor. It gives me a chance to place things where I want them for good sound at the same time not having them so close. Hopefully that 30 band eq will help out even more. It nothing like yours but its a work in progress.

It will be a non-walled setup with the subs facing the rear and ports on the side.

Mine sounded decent, but I tuned to high imo. And I never ran that much to mine though. I only ran a lil more than 1500wrms. I decided to stay in the middle with the enclosure size and port area so it could have a little better power handling. Im hoping to reach the 150 or higher with this setup. Its a daily driver. Its killing me just watching your build. I still have to work on my mids and highs also. I have a 30 band eq waiting to go in.

O nice, what are you doing with them and in what car? I have a 1989 Dodge B250 Conversion van and I will be running two of them on my Crunch GP3000D-Pro. I will add another amp soon. Im just using this to break them in for the time being. I already have a run of 1/0cable and will more than likely add another or two. I have an alt already and a few deka batteries and plan to add some more. I may run 6 of the intimidator or 4 if im able to get away with them. I will also have an agm group 34 under the hood. Hopefully i can get started on the enclosure next week. 22cubes net vol and 17 or a little more after disp. tuned to 28-30hz and with 200sq inches of port area. i will be using 4 8" sonos. How did your setup sound with two of them? I know they should be able to handle 3kw daily.

Whatever you do Im sure it will come out fine. Good luck. I can't wait to hear how mine sound. Watching this build put a little fire under my a$%. I have two of the DP21's

    DP 21" Daily?

I would go with the average enclosure size of 8.5cubes and I would tune between 28-30hz for the low end. I also wouldn't go bigger than that if you plan on adding more power in the future. I own two of the DP21's and I am building and enclosure thats 22cubes net. volume. It should come out around 17cubes or a little greater after port, speaker, and bracing disp. I will also be running two Crunch GP3000D-PROs @ 0.5ohm when Im done. I already have one that I will be using to break them in.
  8. I bought some 0guage hyperflex wire from weldingsupply.com and I must more flexible than my previous 4gauge install and just as flexible as the kicker hyperflex 4guage wire. I only paid $94 for thirty ft. of wire. I am very satisfied and I plan on upgrading to 1/0 cable soon as I figure out what to do with the rest of this cable I have left.

    Welding cable

I am not sure about that but I did order some cable from www.weldingsupply.com I will say it is very flexible and well insulated. You get what you pay for. If you try it out and it is up to par shoot me a message and let me know because I wouldn't mind buying some at that price.

trunk sub and port fire direction

I posted a similar topic and I have yet to receive a reply. I was wondering about port placement in my van.

Nice box. How many cubes and what it the tuning frequency.

trunk sub and port fire direction

Now that I looked at you trunk the box would be shaped like a T by filling in the hole in your trunk. I am sure that will get you a couple of cubes and that way you can go with the sub back port back or sub back port side. I never build a box with just screws. you may be able to salvage some of the parts from your old box if you can separate them add the bottom to it and adjust the port however you need whether moving it to the side or retuning it. I love the setup though. I wish my cousin would let me build him something similar.

trunk sub and port fire direction

If I am not mistaken those cars have a deep trunk beneath that box. I was planning on building a box for my cousing where it sat down in the hole with the subs up and the port back or sub up port side. That way you will still have room for tools and maybe a bit more. I also thought about building it to fit down in the hole and adding another part to it to make it bigger than the hole. That way you use all of the space down in the hole and with the second part of the box it will allow you to use more of the trunk. That way you would probably have to go with sub up port up.

    Port Placement

I have a 1989 Dodge B250 Van. I removed the backseats and built a platform to hold a setup I am getting ready to build. I will not be building a wall. The subs were going to be facing the back of the van and my plan was to have the port on the back of the box. Do you think that would work properly or should I move it to the front. The speaker box will more than likely 21-24cubes and tuned around 32hz. It is supposed to be for 4 18's or 6 15's. I am leaning towards the 15's.

    Sad, sad day

Does anyone happen to have any vids of this thing in action. I am planning on three of them.

Which subs do you think I should go with?

A couple of people. It was kind of hard deciding that I saw both in a competion and I was impressed with both. I guess things that are man made will always have problems one way or another.
  17. I have been waiting for quite some time to finally arrive at the point on what setup I will be using. I was considering 3 IA DP21's or 4 Jbl W15Gti. The amp I am using will be the stetsom 7KD. If I were to go with the DP's it would be in a 24-26cube enclosure at 28hz. The Jbl's would be in a 20cube enclosure at 28hz. I cannot find a DP t/s parameters to factor into the equation. I at least wanted to use the DP15 subwoofer to compare in WinIsd Pro. What do you guys think? If anyone has any t/s parameters on the DP's let me know.

Ok. I will just break it all down as far as the low end. I have an 89' dodge conversion van. I build systems so I decided to take it a bit further. I have welded up my own platform and removed the backseat completely. The platform is design to hold all the speakers amps and batteries while providing room underneath for my tools. I am planning on running a dual 300amp alt setup or one if I don't have room. I will be using 3 Kinetik HC2400's and a HC1400 under the hood. I may also run a cap. I will have plenty runs of 0 gauge wire. If for some strange reason I am not able to run a stetsom a couple of guys at the comp told me to go with 2 SAZ 3000D's. I also am able to a couple of refurbished viper amps. Big 3 will be done plus the platform is bolted to the floor which also has a few ground wires connected to it from the frame. Sorry, I am really insecure about grounding. I feel their is never too much. I also will have a digital bass processor just for fun. I don't plan to run any bass boost off of the amp. As for the speakers I have heard neither. That why I am asking for help. I have heard from some people lately that sundown amps are not all they claim to be. I saw the sundowns amp in action at the comp also.

Which subs do you think I should go with?

Thanks! That a response I can deal with. The setup being unique is why I turned my attention to the DP21's. I haven't been able to find any vids of them in action yet. The DP21's will run me about $200 more but that is not an issue. As for power concerns I do not plan to have it at full tilt all the time. Just only when I go to comps. or need to make a couple dollars through a bet.

Man I am not doing this for the amusement. I never said I thought it was ok. I just said a guy that owned one had minor upgrades to his stock electrical. I understand you guys know a lot, but your comprehension skills suck. Pay attention or don't say nothing. I never said I was gonna run a stock electrical. Maybe you should have mentioned that in your first post, jakcalope. Don't be a dick because you forgot to mention something pertinent. So yeah... maybe you should pay attention. I did not forget it. It was not the topic so it did not apply. I did not say I was using I said a guy. There goes the comprehension again. What was stated was only done to pretty much give an idea of them being used as a daily amp. Either answer the topic question and not assume about my electrical or shut the fudge up? Again I say, Jbl W15Gti or IA DP21?

Are you trying to be funny? Last time I checked it wasn't April 1st buddy. What seems to be funny is that nobody can seem to reply to the topic. I just asked about the subs. Hell I know damn well what I am doing. I install systems as a hustle and as a hobby. I can understand the DP21 just came out so many people have not had the chance to witness it, but the Jbl has been in production for a minute and can discussed easily.

Yes for now. I had a chance to see a few of them in action and talk to a couple of people that owned them. I heard a lot of good things about them from the people that own them. A lot tell me that they have not had anyproblems running them daily. One even advised me that if I wanted to run it daily and be on the safe side was to do it @2ohms. Quite a few also said that 1 ohm is fine for daily. A guy took his family car to the comp. with the babyseat and all still in it and scored 155 with mods to his stock electrical. The store that sells them which held the competition said that they sell a lot for daily usage.

    Sad, sad day

I apologize on behalf of UPS. Hell I work there and I know very well what can happen. I also know that a lot of packages come through there in flimsy boxes held together with a single strip of tape and that is a disaster waiting to happen. When I see speakers or rims come through I try to be gentle.
