Shouldnt be too long, but when you're waiting for a sub like that, it will seem like forever, trust me! When you get it and have to double check to make sure the magnet will fit through the cutout, you'll realize the wait was worth it.
-
Man, I want my cones to be like that! And if theres a dude that will do anything to help ya out, its Scott. When I had my BTLs and all the problems, he was there every step of the way. Thats the reason why Fi has blown up so big around here.
-
Yeah, that video blew up! Its insane its on the first 9 pages of Google and everyone is askin me where to get those subs! Ha! I love it! Around here, all you hear is loud sealed people! chit, Johns van with the 16 SSDs is RETARDED loud. With those new amps I cant even belive it. He always has a ton of the Fi cards with the sub models that he hands out during demos and sometimes you see one or two blowing around the cab. I dont got your number, Scott. PM it to me and give me a time and a day to call and Ill call ya. I cant wait to start this setup. I really wanna run the SSDs, even if it means that I gotta save up a little bit longer. Im alot better that I was a week ago, and way better than I was 2 weeks ago from the back surgery, and Im about to go back to work. I dont care when it gets done as long as Im bumpin at SBN. I really wanna do something with your subs, whether its a demo car with the new AA line to get word out on those since noone has really dont anything with the Arsenals yet, or whether its the SSDs. 24 SSD 15s and 12 SAZ-1500Ds all sealed up would be quite the daily driver/demo car. If I get the SSDs Im going to need a huge ass Fi vinyl on my car... Im talkin like 5' x 2'. Black Express van lowered on some black rims with a huge Fi symbol on it would be sick. Dude, you have no idea how I am excited to get this goin!

Awesome dude! That clamshell looks EXACTLY like mine except it had 4 BTL 18s. Thats some real clean work you did there. You'll love it!

With 4,000rms a sub, definately go with a smaller box and less port. Look for something around a 10 cubic foot common chamber plus about 120in^ of port area tuned to whatever you want. Id suggest anywhere between 30-40hz, depending on where your car peaks.

Looks like a real nice first system! Way nicer than mine was. You shouldnt have any trouble getting that Eclipse loud. My friend used to have one and had 2 12" Alpine Type S in a sealed prefab and a 600rms Alpine amp. That thing actually hammered! It rattled to hell! Because of how bad they rattle, be sure to sound deaden it. Buy some Second Skin Sludge and go to town. Will make that rediculous amount of rattling just a very light hum. Looks great so far!

Do you already have the sub? If not it would be a good idea to get something like a couple 10s or 12s. Something like 4 nice SSD 10s would probably be the way to go. But if you already have the BTL and really need to get it in that trunk, you can do it. Not sure how well it will work though. If you really take the time to design a real nice enclosure and recheck all the math thats the way to go, but if you're just lookin for a daily beater (Ha, I said "daily beater") you dont need anything special. Just a quick design from the RE Calculator would work fine. Its not exact, but Ive used it a ton of times and every system sounded great. Actually, after just entering the max dimenions and getting a decent amount of port area, the box is going to be REALLY small for that sub. Id just run sub up and port back even though that doesnt usually work too well because you would be worse off with a slant beause that would give up even more airspace that you REALLY need. I know those are the dimensions in the trunk, but be sure you can get a box that size IN either through the backseat or through the trunk opening. Personally, Id just sell it for as much as possible and get something that you can run properly. Something like 4 sealed SSD 10s in the right airspace off that MA amp would most likely do much better than the BTL thats being choked off in that tiny box. Just run a little 4 cubic foot sealed 1 chamber box. I could help you out with that and even do you a little design from Sketchup to show you what it would look like. Would be pretty simple to build in the trunk if needed. Would also save a ton of room for an extra battery that the MA amp will definately need and even room for the amp itself, since it doesnt exactly have a small footprint. Heres a quick design I came up with in a couple minutes. If you feel like putting in the effort, it would be really beneficial to build assemble inside the trunk and use fiberglass to contour into the spare tire well and in the nooks and crannys to get every last tenth of a cubic foot you can. Id also just use 3/4" MDF and use threaded rod as bracing on the X, Y, and Z axis because using 1" MDF takes up a good bit of precious airspace. In this link enter the numbers in red in this order, from top to bottom. 31, 14, 30, 30, .75, 5, 0. That will give you a real quick design. http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html Hope that helps. If you wanna talk about anything feel free to PM me or send me an IM on AOL Instant Messanger at galacticmonkey0. Best of luck to ya!

This is what Id do. 1 15" AA Arsenal - $195 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/shop/in...p;productId=165 Pioneer HU - $189 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/shop/in...mp;productId=61 Kicker RS 6.5 Component Set - $254 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=2506 Kicker ZX700.5 - $419 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=3961 It comes out just a little over $1,000, but then factore in an amp kit and some deadening and you will be right at your budget. As for deadening, I run Peel n Seal in my car and it works great. Sticks real nice and stops the rattles. After everything, should be right around $1,400, but would be worth it. It isnt going to win any SQ world records, but will sound alot better than most systems and still get down with the ported 15. Those ZX700.5s are awesome amps, know couple people running them and they love em. Just run the amp bridged to the Component set and Aresenal and you will be ready to go.

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/sound-system/gu...tion-315522.php Pretty cool I thought. Theres pages and pages of sites featuring it on Google. This was a pretty cool explanation though.
-
Yeah, it does say 1,700. The person who uploaded it entered it wrong.
-
Yeah, at the voltge and ohm load I was at, I was probably seeing closer to 2,000rms or more out of EACH amp... So yeah, it was anywhere from 16,000-17,000rms.
-
Yeah... 8 Sundown 1500Ds @ .35ohm on 10 Kinetik 2400s that sat at about 14.6 fully charged. You do the math.
-
I got a ton of videos Ill post up tomorrow.
-
Well how much are you guys selling them for? And whats the power rating and impedance on them?
-
Uh.... No.... I just thought it might be nice to swap from my Eminence to those. Just mix it up a little and try something new. Is that ok with you? Or do you need more of an explanation?

Fi BTL do they sound that bad?
galacticmonkey replied to thacarter546's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Every install Ive heard with a DD has been like that. Never hear the 1000, 1500, or 2500 series, so I cant comment on those, but Id never run a 3500 or 9500. If I wanted SPL I would just get a T3 Audio TSNS.... Its cheaper and would stomp a 3500/9500 anyday. -

Heard them in strictly daily boxes, daily SPL boxes, and straight up SPL boxes. They meter loud.... I knew a kid with a single 9515 in the cargo area of an Xterra. He could do almost a 149 in dB Drag. Defintely impressive for 1 15 and a Memphis 4k, but it sounded hollow just like all the others, so it didnt seem loud to your ears whatsoever. -

Ive owned BTLs and they sound just fine. Not going to impress a hardcore sq guy, but if you're lookin for a daily sub that gets down and sounds pretty good, you'll be happy. Of course if you're goin for sq, a couple sealed Qs will romp a BTL. If you do a ported box on the Qs, they should be very close in output to a single BTL on the same power. And as for DDs..... Unless I was goin for a fartbox, Id never run DD. Ive heard a bunch of 3500s and 9500s and they sound like complete ass imo. Not distorted or anything, just hollow tone to them. Do they meter? Definately. But Id NEVER EVER run a 3500/9500 in a musical car. -
Heres my views on it. Lets just say a note in between 35-45hz is used for all. 120dB - You can feel a little bass, mostly just blends into the music and sounds very smooth. 130dB - A pretty average system. A couple low end 10s or 12s with a couple hundred watts. 140dB - Some people can start to feel the pressure in their ears, and most people not into systems say its pretty loud. 145dB - Starts to get pretty loud. You can feel the bass throughout your body. Pressure starts to build. Pretty loud street system. 150dB - If you got virgin ears, you will probably chit your pants when the line drops. 155dB - Breathing becomes difficult inside the vehicle, your ears really hurt, and even outside the car you can feel pressure on your chest. 158dB - Insanely loud. Your ears hurt like you wouldnt imagine, your vision is blurred to the point where its hard to see, and you really have to concentrate on breathing. 160dB - Rediculous. Breathing is pretty much impossible, and just the flat out pressue feels like your body is being crushed. Could go higher, but ~160dB is loudest Ive ever heard on music.

*Puts on flame suit* Look into a B&C woofer. They have very low distortion, sound really smooth, and are very very loud. If its clean power, they can do about 175 rms per speaker. These have all the pros of a PA speaker without all the cons. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...d=51456#reviews Two Vifa tweets per B&C (if you really cram power the 6.5) would be great. Alot of people are surprised when they hear a PA driver with a sq tweeter or two. It has the output of a PA array, but all the sound of a nice component set. You would be really surprised. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=264-555 Another option is to go with more cheaper speakers, but it wont sound as good as the B&C-Vifa combo. These Selenium arent bad at all for the price. Id run them in my car if I was lookin for somethin around that price. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tNumber=264-422 Heres a Selenium tweeter. They're so loud, but not harsh. They are just very clean and crisp. Work great paired with the Selenium midrange. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...4-355&DID=7 I had 4 BTL 18s in my car walled off, and it was 8 Eminene Alpha 6s with 4 Eminence APT-80 tweeters with each on about 20rms a speaker.... The mids/highs definately couldnt keep up with the bass, but the B&Cs definately would. If I could have any 6.5 out there, it would be that B&C.
-
Well Im going to run 8 Eminence Alpha 6s on a SAX 100.4. They are all 8 ohm, so the amp will be running 100x4 @ 4 ohm, giving each speaker about 50rms. Even though they are rated at 100rms Id think thats enough to get em loud.

If you need any designs, I can whip one up for ya for a little money. Ive done a couple boxes for Explorers.

Qs are definately some of my favorite subs.
