I wouldnt imagine they are the same company for legal and financial reasons. They are owned by the same person, and the some of the subs from Ascendant are beefed up versions of their Fi counterparts. Ascendant is the dealer only line, while Fi is the online version. AA is just the "premium" brand.
-
Id go with Fi's reccomendations. They do build the sub and all.

Just go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy 1/2 a sheet of MDF. Have them cut it up for it. Build a box thats 12" tall, 12" wide, and 11" deep. That will give you .53 cubes sealed, which is on the larger size of the reccomended .2-.6 sealed. Should sound great.

Anu update? I just build a ported box for 2 15 Ascendant Chaos for fun last night... We will see how it sounds. Built it at 7.5 cubes with 92in^ of port @ 30hz. We will see how it does. Dump people at Lowes messed up my cuts... Box is all jacked. Everything is off like 1/8-1/4". It sucks, but not my fault. I showed up 10 minutes before they closed and had them make the cuts. Just kind of went on a whim. Only took me 75 minutes to build the box start to finish, so I just slapped the thing together. Should still sound loud as hell for HT in my apartment. Id love to put 2 BTL 15s in this box and see how it sounds.

Something like 4.5 cubes, with around 55-60in^ of port tuned low, to like 30hz would be awesome if you're into alot of rap with low bass.

Awesome trim work. IMO, Thats what really sets some systems apart. Looks killer!
-
As said post up some max dimensions and we can steer you in the right direction.

Theres a guy around here in Florida with a single 12 in his Mazda 3 and he whoops some ass in flyweight Bassboxing.

Most of the parts are made in other countries, but there are quite a few companies who build their stuff here in America. Eminence Fi Ascendant MMATS JL Audio SSA Sundown Just a couple off the top of my head that Im pretty sure of.

help tuning port(s) in a clamshell
galacticmonkey replied to germandark's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
What about making it a clamshell with a port on each side? -
I can design you guys some boxes. Send me a PM with the subs, power, max dimensions, what sound you want, vehicle, etc.
-
Ive heard some Massive stuff. Skip it.
-
If the port drops to 1" wide at the very back (looks to be so), thats definately 100% the problem.
-
Ill be there. Not sure where Ill be, but Ill be there playing the hell out of my system all weekend.
-
I can help you with a box. Send me an email to [email protected].

One of the sickest trucks in the game! One time he was doing a Bassboxing run over 160db then he had deck troubles I think and it dropped fast. Truck is badass... Cant wait to get a demo in Daytona, Pipo!

Ive been driving SUVs and vans with walls right behind the front seats for about 2 years now. Never had a single problem. You just get used to using your side mirrors and you know where traffic is at all times. After a while you get used to it, and even when you drive a car WITH a rear view mirror, its just annoying and gets away. Even after I took the wall out of my Expedition, I put the rear view mirror back in. 2 days later, I took it back out.
