I would be cool with a single SAZ-35,000 to run all my subs.
-
A little above yourt budget, but 4 SSD 12 or 15s on a Crunch GP3000 would be sweet. 2 Q 18s on a Hifonics Brutus 2608 would be sweet and well within your price range as well.

I could design you a box that will do everything pretty well. Will play music awesome and should meter pretty well to. Best part is it should fit in just about any type of car. PM me and give me more info and Ill whip up a design.

Put them on top of the box like you had the 6x9s. Or maybe put them in the center console firing out and up at an angle towards you? If you want some smaller speakers, just run a couple of these Selenium 6s. Since they are 8 ohm its easiest to run 8 speakers on a 2 channel, with each channel @ 2 ohms, or bridge 4 of them per amp and just run 2 amps. You dont need expensive amps for these... Super efficient. Get like a $120-150 2 channel, give anywhere from 50-100rms to each and you're set. The Seleniums are definately right there with the Eminence Alpha 6s IMO and are almost $11 cheaper per speaker. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl....422&scqty=4 A cheaper tweeter to run besides the Selenium ST350 is the Eminence APT80. Give each one 40-50rms and you're good to go. These tweeters arent as nice and not as loud, but way shallower and are $10 cheaper per tweeter. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=290-532 With 4 of each, you're below $450 for a killer setup, including all the amps and speakers you would need. If you didnt run anything but these 8 drivers you would still have awesome sound and tons of it. If you can fit/afford the Deltas though... Go that route. Those are so rediculously loud you would have to hear them to even understand. Just be sure to give them some decent power, at least 200rms each. The more, the better.

Its all a give and take. You can do one very well, or the other very well, or both pretty well. But unfortunately you cant have the best of both worlds with no compromises. Id say just build a box and buy some aeroports. This way you can put in longer ports for daily that will tune you lower and vice versa.
-
Is it going to be ported? If so, where will the port be?
-
Trust me on this... 2 Eminence Delta 10s, a Hifonics ZXi6008 bridged on them, and 2 Selenium ST350 tweeters with 50-75rms each, and you would be set. $388 for the 2 10s, 2 tweeters, and the Hifonics amp. Just find a tiny amp for the tweets for real cheap and you would be set for below $450. And you honestly wont believe how loud these will be. Sound pretty clean too. In my van Ill be running the same ones. Ill have 8 Delta 10s, 8 Alpha 6s, and 16 ST350s.

horns belongs on trains and in disco's If you dont like them, just dont run them. EZ PZ.
-
When you're ready for some highs, get at me. Ill steer you in the right direction.

If you're looking for alot of sound, dont go and drop $300-400 on a single set of 6.5s. Go buy some Eminence/Seleniums and throw some power to em.

Car Audio Blasts Through Playboy Magazine
galacticmonkey replied to FloridaSPL.com's topic in General Audio
Was that the guy who was chillin at Tommys shop for that show a while back? He was pretty cool. -
heh, i don't think he likes his music as loud as you do gmonk Says who?
-
I dont see why everyone is saying "NO! YOU MUST NOT HAVE SPEAKERS BEHIND YOU!". If the guy likes the way it sounds, who cares? Do you build because of what most sound quality cars do? Or do you just build things the way that you like them? If you prefer all the sound in front of you, thats cool. Some of us like LOUD ass music, that only tons of mids and tweeters throughout the cabin can provide. To the OP: Build it, build it how you want, and build it LOUD!
-
Why not? For a couple months I only ran speakers in trim pannels on my wall behind me, nothing in the doors. It sounded just fine. In that case, why not put the sub in the dash?

If you set it up correctly, and use quality brands, pro audio equipment works AWESOME in cars. Go to www.partsexpress.com and check out the stuff they have. If you ran 4 Eminence Delta 10s and 4 Selenium tweeters it would sound awesome and be sooooo loud. It obviously wont have the sound quality of a $1,500 6.5 component set with a world class install and $2,000 worth of processing, but what will? With the 6x9s back there, this would sound just as good, if not BETTER, and be 100x as loud. Ive got sooo much money put into my system, and Im running these exact speakers because they perform... Over comp sets or anything else. Just get the 4 10s bridged on a 4 channel, and same with the tweets on a different amp. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=290-412 http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=264-362

Get another battery. Lose the cap. Set your gain with a DMM. Turn up your SSF. Turn the bass boost off. Make sure the LPF/HPF are set correctly. What voltage are you seeing when playing it full volume? You are probably giving the amp such low voltage that its clipping its signal. In that case, set the gain correctly and get a battery dedicated to the amplifier. Also, 40hz isnt THAT high. Definately higher than I would like, but its not that big of a deal. How much port area is there?

Ill take 6. You know my adress. plzkthx

Saw these on Youtube... Figured people might like them. Was an awesome show. Between Pipo and Frankie running the Havocs, and me running the Chaos, Id say Ascendant made a pretty good showing.

I havent read the thread yet but heres my view on things: As long as the manufacturer has tight specifications and makes sure they are upheld, uses quality materials, has a well designed product, and does a good job serving their customers, I could care less where it is built/comes from.

If you got space, id go with 2 loaded BLs.
-
Build an amprack and trim them both out in black vinyl or suede.

There is a couple problems I see with this: 1) If you can really afford 5-7krms per woofer for burps, you can afford better subs. 2) 35 cubes is way too big for 3 18s. If you want a mix of daily and SPL you could run 6 18s in that space with around 5 cubes per. 3) The port area is too much for 3 subs, especially with the power you will be running. Id say if you want 18s, buy 3 better 18s if you want to run some serious power, and run a smaller box. You could also just run 2 18s... And get amps that send each about 3krms @ 2 ohms daily, then for burps you could drop the amps to a lower ohm load and really put on the power. Id say get some big 18s like an Atomic, Fi, DD, T3, etc. In the AQs case (WMDs as well), running 3x the reccomended rms in a box thats double the size it should be with a ton of port would not end well.
-
Did you wire it up and do all the amp settings yourself? Do you know the people at the shop personally? You never know... Maybe if they put the amp in they did something like mess with the LPF/HPF and SSF to make you think the BTL sucks and to buy their L7s. Just check every wire and setting.
-
With 1,800rms daily you will want a smaller enclosure, and go a little smaller than normal on the port area. Will give the sub alot of help in taking that kind of power daily.
-
Sweet. Theres always a litle bit to gain. Maybe resin the inside of it to make it super smooth. Thats usually goo for a couple tenths. Then just play with the positioning. Should be 145+ no problem.
