Well, I went to a dbdrag today and competed in Bassrace. It was so damn hot outside! It was closing in on 120 degrees! Noone was metering... Just about everyone was down 2.5-3.5dbs. I was such a dumbass I played my subs when I got there and ended up having to go meter with drained batteries and my subs were pretty warm after demoing for like 30 minutes. My score sucked balls, only a 151.5 in bassrace. Oh well, it will be better when the conditions are better, and it might help a LITTLE when I know where my car peaks, and Im not playing some random song. Should also be louder when I play with my amps. My gains arent even 1/8 of the way up, the SSF is set to about 40-45hz (my box is tuned @ 35hz), and basically everything is just set so I wont blow any subs. Anyways, heres some videos and stuff from the competition. Unfortunately I didnt snap a pic when it was at 118! The 151.5 got my 2nd anyway... Not bad considering first place was Jethro Eason, who has 24 12" RE SEs, and 20,000rms of 02 amps. Aftermah. Complete destruction.

Just run some buss bars. Get a good piece of copper peferably. Make it about 1/2-3/4" thick and just drill the holes where you need em. Much neater than running wire. Heres my buss bars to give you an idea. Another place to look is termpro.com they have tons of pics with cars using them. Heres another I found a picture of in my photobucket.

Idk I know it will go up when my voltage is higher, its not 115 degrees with like 80% humidity, i know where mycar peaks, and I actually turn the gains up a little.
-
Hahah yeah, he was pondering his way to 150! Hahaha

You can do ported clamshells. I actually got one myself with some 18" BTLs. Its just another way to do a wall. Ive seen em behind the back seat or behind the front seat (like mine).

The amps are strapped @ 1.4 and even now the subs have a hard time handling the power for more than a few minutes.
-
You won? I didnt know! Thats badass dude! And yeah, the recones look badass. At least now I know exactly what to do if I ever need to again. We gotta find a termlab and both practice some bassrace when its not so rediculously humid and hot. We'll be tearin New Port Richey up!

Convince me to become A Sundown Audio owner!!
galacticmonkey replied to zaxfire69's topic in Sundown Audio
Well, I like Sundown. Alot. Heres my proof. -
I just registered over here, and Ive seen some of you on other forums that will know my setup, but Im sure alot of you dont. I got 4 18" BTLs, 8 Sundown SAZ-1500Ds, 10 Kinetik HC2400s, and a 300amp alt. The enclosure specs is 6.5ft, 35hz, 100sq in of port. Sorry, this video is real crappy. Its kinda hard to make a good video when I have like 20 seconds left on the camera and the battery is going to die.

Well now its officially called broke as fudge.

Well as of a 2 hours ago, its up and running again. The whole piece in my ceiling that holds some storage places, AC vents, dome lights, etc, completely came out. I jammed it back up there as good as I could...

Haha I get what you're sayin. Luckily enough, Im fortunate to have my parents pay for most of my things since I still live at home, and it leaves me with enough money to fund my passion. When I get a second job, hopefully this will start movin faster! I really wanna get more stuff. I still need to make the back show quality with a nice amprack and some speakers, need way more speakers and tweeters in the cab, some Sundown SAX mids/highs amps, and a new HU. I really wanna swap out my Eminence for B&C 6.5s They are sooooooooooo sexy. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=294-650 A bunch of those on 100rms each and some nice tweeters. Now that would be badass.

2002 Caddy on bagz...8 Fi BTL 18's, 2 RF T15k amps (new vid pg 31)
galacticmonkey replied to meade916's topic in General Fi
I heard a RF T15k. It was actually in the back of a different Escalade. It was powering 12 sealed 10" RF T2s in a wall behind the back seat. Heres a quick look at it. The guy actually lives relatively close to me. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b6/galam...Picture1003.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b6/galam...Picture1004.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b6/galam...Picture1005.jpg http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b6/galam...Picture1006.flv He was actually playing it at moderate volume pretty much all day long with no problems. Just a battery charger hooked up since it was indoors. As for your build, lookin great. I cant wait to see it finished. -
Mines tuned to 35hz and I wouldnt second guess tuning a little higher even. The lows that the subs produce in the enclosure I got em in is just wicked. On a 30hz note, it looks like both of the side view mirror assemblys are going to break off. Idk, its just scary seeing my car flex like that. I kinda dont like it to be honest!

Ya, Im turning 19 in August. Ive been into car audio for a while, and Ive just been working, saving money, and going bigger each time. I started off with a 15" Type R (old school one) and a Bazooka 1500 watt amp. Went a little bigger to 2 10s, then 3 15s, then 6 15s, now 4 18s. Kinda scary to think that in 2 years Ive went from about 500rms to 17,000.
-
I got 4 BTL 18s with each in 6.5 cubes @ 35hz each. They HAMMER the lows like ive never heard. Its so violent im afraid to turn it up on the real low lows for fear of my car! In the right enclosure, they will pound so low its rediculous.

They're $179 shipped each, but the Fi SSDs are great, as are RE SEs.

Ya, one song was a slowed down version of In The Hood by Trae, and the other was Hypnotize by Jeezy. Expect numbers Sunday night probably. Will be my first time bassracing the 150-159.9 class. Always did 149.9 before... Never 150+.

Me and two other people worked on the build. After about a week of beating on them with 2 Sundown SAZ-1500Ds per sub, strapped @ .7ohm, the tinsels fried and the pressure from the other subs seperated the cone from the spider on the first one. Then another one had the same thing happen, minus the cone seperation. I thought the strapping @ .7ohm would work, but it doesnt. It wasnt the wattage, as the coils were fine, but the current from the amps. The amps took .35 on music. They got pretty warm, but they could do it if they needed to. I ordered 4 Dual 1 ohm recones and they were reconed yesterday. I think strapping @ 2 ohm will be much better for daily. There might be some cancellation in the enclosure, but its not the design that messed up the subs. It was simple running 4,400rms to each sub @ .35 ohm with 77amps of current per coil. I bassraced with 1 sub and with it about 1/2 volume on a song doing a consistent 30hz I almost took the 139.9 class. It probably had a 143-145 in it with 1 sub. Numbers coming this Sunday.

That was like 14 months ago, before my car had any system at all!
-
Old picture. Point where my old system cracked the metal in the rear. (It was 6 15" Treos in the cargo area.) That was before any tint, and as you can imagine the back is definately a couple inches lower.

The SSA forums would never let me register for some reason. I tried it a ton of times over the past few months with no luck. I tried again today and it let me. Woohoo! So whats up guys?
-
Hey guys, I never registered because I always had problems with the email. Id sign up and I wouldnt get an email and it just never worked out. I always read posts in here, and I figured Id give it a shot, and it worked! So here I am. I should be around regularly now. Btw, I got my BTLs reconed today, and Ill have some bassrace numbers Sunday!

It works quite nicely. It gives you a little tweak ability, but I mainly just bought it to boost the voltage of the HU.
