Goshdogit!! My bad, (didn't mean to add the extra "c") Fixed !

I just completed a transaction with 1quikstang (Parker). Do not hesitate to do business with him. The amp I bought from him was exactly as he described to me (mint). Although I haven't installed it yet I'm certain that it's in perfect working order as everything else he's told me has been true. Communication and contact info was great. The amp was double boxed and shipped when he said it would be shipped. I'd purchase from him again in a heartbeat. Carl

Yes, I did, but I still need to get a cubic foot dimension and tuning frequency of the box. Carl

Waiting to hear back, Nick.

It'l be there in about 5 min. E-mail sent.

Actually I do have 3 specific questions. You possibly may answer them, but you may need to ask Scott also. Could I have your e-mail address or would you prefer PM. Thanks, Carl. How are you selling drivers if your sales box is full??????????

That makes the most sense to me.

is that jus to much power for that a single 18? The magic smoke appears........................

Thanks for all the info. ND, I don't know anyone named Brian. BKOLF04 are you Brian? I have access to these forums and am just now getting ordering info. Imagine the poor guy who reads about AA products and is not active in this forum. My point is merely that it is confusing to the average consumer. I'm not a newcomer to AA either. I've got 4 18" Avalanches in my living room that I bought from Chad. My son has 2 Arsenals in his van. My point is not to flame, I'm just pointing out how difficult a time it is for someone to purchase an AA product.
-
Wouldn't it be easier to just list their dealer info on their website? In all honesty, I've bought 6 drivers from AA in the past and am looking to get 4 more. I'm not even considering AA at this point just from the aspect of inconvenience. I can't even find MSRP on these things, no less a dealer. It seems like some sort of big secret and much too much work to get info. I've gotten more info and help from Scott at Ficaraudio on AA drivers than I have from AA. I'm not quite sure what business model AA is following, but it appears to be leading them down the wrong path, unless of course their goal is to stop selling drivers.

That bites. Did they notate the damage when you signed for it?

Graphite.......Ahhhhhhh

Sounds like I have a plan then.

Having 3000 watts on tap, which can be made louder in a large ported box? 4 SSD18's or 2 of the more efficient BL/BTL's? TIA, Carl.
-
4 SSD's would be seeing about 750 watts apiece. Would I need any options or just go with the stock drivers?
-
I have a Sundownaudio SAZ300D coming.

No doubt. I think we'll stick to a box, for ease of build and removal. Looks are not the primary concern, air movement is. I just wasn't sure which would move more. 2 18's with higher efficiency and more x-max or 4 18's with lower efficiency and less x-max.

I'll be building the box for my son (18 y.o.) and I have a tendancy to overbuild things at times. As long as I get some help with box size and port area, the box should be pretty stout. Goals: My son currently has 2 AA Arsenal 12's in a ported box with about 12 to 1400 watts. The system is in a safari van. SQ is low on his list of priorities, he just wants loud. When I asked him what we were trying to accomplish he told me he wanted to feel his shirt flap when he rolls down the window. I guess he's looking to do hair tricks, I dunno. I know he's had it metered at least once, but I don't think he's wanting to compete or anything like that. Hope that helps.

Bump for the x-perts.

Or should I say my son wants loud. I've e-mailed Scott a couple of times, but I know how busy he gets. I thought I'd try here. What I'm looking for is the loudest possiblw set up that I can get with an honest 1400 watts @1 ohm available. I can build a box any size I need to, so that's not an issue. It's going in a mini-van so I've got plenty of room. He's trying to do better than his current setup of 2 AA Arsenal 12's in a ported box (tuned around 32-35Hz). My initial thoughts were 2 SSD18's w/dual 2 Ohm vc's in a ported box, but I'm looking for advice from someone from Fi. Once the drivers are chosen, I'll need help with box dimensions. TIA, Carl.

That's what I thought also, but doesn't efficiency have something to do with overall SPL? The Arsenal 12's are rated at roughly 87db and the SSD is a little over 89db. I didn't know if that would be a large difference. Of course I don't know how to factor the increased port area of the larger box as it relates to increase in SPL. I'd hate to spend $500.00 and build a new box if we weren't going to see a fairly large jump in wangage. Thanks for helping educate me. Thoughts? Efficiency is a really interesting #. Install is everything. A well built enclosure can be night and day from an ok built enclosure. I would consider your goals. Will 18" SSD's get louder than 12" AA arsenals. It's like adding 2 more 12" subs to your current set-up. It's a theoretical instant 3dB gain, or about ~33% louder because our hearing is logarithmic. I agree that cone area wise, 226 sq in now and 508 sq in with the 18's will be more than doubling the effective cone area. The SSD's have 3 mm more stroke, so I'll have more swept voulme also. Port area should increase substantially (I have no idea how much) which should help also. Lastly 2 dB in efficiency will also help the cause. do you think 3dB is a little conservative? Secondly, a well built enclosure is a must, I agree. The box I built for his current subs were from plans that Chad at AA sent me. I'd need that kind of direction with this project also.

Yes, that would be a trick. I meant 2 dual 1 Ohm subs. That's what we're running now. My mistake.
