Nice job man! that box looks great! Glad your happy with the result Oh yeah, on a bc2000, that thing is gonna slam!
-
Hmmm... Mabye yours just had a design fluke, I have pushed and pulled on the connectors and wires themselves WAY too much (frusterated HU install ) and have never broken any of em. You know you could just unscrew the end cap and resolder the wire to the connector?

Welcome! Im fairly new here as well and must say that i have received nothing but good, friendly information on this forum. I think that as long as you do some research before asking questions and respect others opinions you'll be fine! thats what i've tried to do, and its worked out pretty well so far haha
-
Sweet! Glad to hear it! Have you checked out knukonceptz for wiring yet? I'm using their kolossus 1/0 awg for my big 3 and run to the back and that stuff is HUGE! I even compared it to some rockford fosgate 0 awg that i have and its bigger and more flexible (5145 strands i think). Im also using battery terminals, a volt meter/distro block, and 6 channels of 6m Karma SS RCA from them and have wonderful results with all their products. Prices are great too! Im sure there are other great brands out there as well, but thats just my 2 cents, if you were wondering

Now I'll be jealous of that mechman. Right now all my electrical is stock but I'm probably going to invest into a kinetic battery first just because my current battery is a pos Yeah, a kinetic or xs power is definitially in your future. Btw: when you go to do the big 3, get your self some crimps and one of these. There's no need to spend 80-100 dollars on a pro crimper your gonna use 6 times. http://www.amazon.com/Pico-0685t-Lug-Crimping-Tool/dp/B001QRS88C/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt There's a little technique to useing it, but you'll figure it out- just buy a few extra crimps to practice on. Some might reccomend sodering as well as crimping and I can't Argue with that, but I just crimped all of mine and have had no problems yet (3 or 4 thousand miles). This isn't really relevant to this post but I figured a little extra info wouldn't hurt

Haha, we'll your gonna need it for that bc2000, that's for sure. My hifonics dims the headlights with big 3, all 0 awg, and a good batt. And that's in a yukon. Rev'd up it dosent really drop below ~12 but steady 14 would be nice. Mechman 270 is coming before I do that dual q build though
-
Yeah man if you've done some reasearch and you like the crescendo, Then go for it- i certainly can't find a reason to argue against it! I would assume youve got all the electrical to back it up right? 0awg, big 3, batt or alt, etc...

How about Sundown amps? I've heard the 1500 is nice. I'd love to try one myself but until i get the $ that will have to wait haha! Im thinking about running my dual Q setup off of a 3500 but we'll see... Tellin you what though - i'll be jealous of that bc2000 if you decide to do that. I bought my hifonics before i learned a thing or two and, while it has served me well, im itching to upgrade to something better. (i might just wait till something goes wrong cause for less than 200 bucks, its done pretty darn good haha)

Stihlman9 started following Another Q or Bl post......I know, When does deck distort? and New 3-way Component set
-
Quote: "Right now I only have a rockford fosgate R750-1D but I haven't exactly figured out what to upgrade to yet. I was leaning to the crescendo bc2000 but another question is can a q actually take 1500 daily or should I run less" Well heres my opinion on amps and power: Its always better to have an amp more powerful than your speakers - you can always set the gain a little lower and it will also ensure that you always get a clean signal. My Q has the cooling option and extra spider (i thk thats all) and its doing just fine on 1700 watts. Well, its a hifonics amp so who knows if its really 1700 RMS, but im sure its more than your 750-1d. Its never smelled or anything even after blasting for a long time. A bc2000? thats a lot of power but, like i said, just be careful with the volume and gain and you'll be fine!
-
These analogies are great! (i actually lol'd at "you still have a ferrari or a lambo") Yeah, dont worry - that Q will hit plenty low for ya BTW: what amp are you running?
-
I would have to agree that a BL might have been the better choice, but im really just posting to make sure you dont get discouraged about your Q. Hey, i have ONE Q in a yukon and its plenty for daily driving (does anyone really need to blur their vision at 70mph??) and a little showing off (nothing competitive). To back up what Alton said about upgrading - Im building a custom box for two Q's here in another month. but thats purely because im addicted to car audio and always want to get bigger and better. in the end, i think you'll love your Q. Just my two cents, but lets face it, you really cant go wrong with anything from FI haha!
-
Hmmm... i was afraid you'd say that. I have heard that verdict before but thought my situation was a little different - guess not haha! Well thanks for your help anyway! But man, those copper accents on the pc3.65's are sexy!
-
SORRY! i completely meant passive crossovers. Guess i should proofread better
-
Ok, currently i have a set of Focal 165 3-way components in my yukon and i think they sound great! I know some say that they are harsh, and at first i agree, but after a little eq'ing i got them sounding great imho. I am doing an install for a friend in his Voltswagon gti (nice car:)) and am trying to choose a good (under $350) 3-way component set for him. I am considering the precision power PC.3.65. I will buy an amp according to the speakers i choose. I would recommend my focal set but they might be a little "harsh" in his small car. Those aluminum tweeters in the focals are sharp haha! Anyway, i would just like ya'lls opinion on good 3-way components. they need to have active crossovers but other than that and price there arn't any restrictions. Thanks for all info!
