Thanks for the welcome, ex650. Sadly though, I have cancelled my trunk class build project. And wait for it....................switched to a non-trunk build. It just doesn't make sense for what I'm trying to achieve. The only things that will reside in the trunk now, will be the batts. Now, I have up to 11 net cubes at my disposal, without walling. I am almost 100% sure it will be a single 18 with a big a** port. Build log to follow soon...
  2. This is a WINisd plot of my final 3. It is comparing 3 ETHOS 12's against an EVIL 18 and a pair of ETHOS 15's. The ETHOS enclosures were taken directly from some of Quentin's suggestions, and the EVIL 18 was a shot in the dark based on my space limitations. How accurate is WINisd in calculating real world SPL? Based on the modeling an EVIL 18 equals three ETHOS 12's at peak tuning (hard to believe); the ETHOS 15's win all...The EVIL 18 is pitted against the three ETHOS 12's for SB2 class reasons, the pair of ETHOS 15's is for I don't give a damn what class I compete in reasons.

    WINisd modeling of final 3?

Actually, it's triple 12's. Cost is definitely a factor. The real struggle is whether to go for SPL, the 15's, or to follow SB2 rules. I am limited to around 6.5 cubes, maybe 7 if I get creative...

    WINisd modeling of final 3?

Thanks for responding Quentin and Impious . I understand that this is theoretical modeling. I was just surprised by the results. I expected the 12's to walk away from the single 18. This also does not help in my decision making. The 18 does have a cost advantage, but I can feel the 15's laughing at me...
  6. I picked up a new starting battery today. I replaced my old volcano type battery with a Diehard Gold AGM Group 34. I picked it up for 141.00, now down to 131.00. My research tells me that these are rebranded DEKA's, which should be good quality. It seems that Group 31's are the rule for battery banks, but I can't squeeze in three batteries. Would 3 diehard gold group 34's plus one up front be enough reserve for 5-5.5 kW? I know XS's are king, but I need to save where I can. I will also have a MECHman 220A installed as soon as I get in new battery terminals. P.S. Anyone have personal experience with diehard gold AGM's?

Wait, I have to put on my nerd glasses to read this post...JK. I knew about the second definition, but not the first. In all seriousness, it is a very distinctive name. It stands out against names like LVL 3, 9515, ZVx... I was hoping to jump in before the price change, but I still have not made the decision.

Thanks for the welcome Tenacious. I would love to get this thing together for the Spring Break Jam, but I think that's wishful thinking... gprestonmoto, I was definitely leaning towards the Ethos-Ethi? but I am rethinking a single 18 for SB2. I will have to decide quickly, though.

Ah, I see. It's funny that both you(Steve) and bigjon replied. Your SS and current project along with bigjon's build logs inspired me to get serious about my project...

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Doing a lot of reading/research. BTW, daviddto why are you in SB4 and not SB3?
