small 4 channel?
trpkkd replied to trpkkd's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
No you run it to a cross over and the mid and tweeter hook to it. unless you are running active. No I don't think I'm quite ready to run active yet still got some reading and learning to do. When you run them off a 2 channel each side would split the wattage right? So if the comps I was looking at are rated at 150 rms would that be per speaker or side? -

You don't need to run the speakers and tweeters off separate channels -

Yeah I was thinking of running just 1 set comps in the front for now. -
Hey guys I have been out of the car audio scene for too long and starting to get back into it. I have been scouring the web and researching and it seems like everywhere I look there's an ssa banner or logo so I thought I'd check you guys out and I was hoping you guys could help to get me back in the game and maybe answer some questions (I'm sure I'll have some) along the way.

Hi guys I've been looking around at some mids and highs. I'm thinking about trying to run 2 6.5s an 2 tweeters in each front door of a 03 ford explorer and maybe some coaxials in the rears. My question is what kind of amp should I run a 2 channel or a 4 channel? It's seems the 2 channels are usually quite a bit cheaper. What are advantages of running a 4 channel?

Any suggestions on a nice 4 channel amp that doesn't cost $500? -

I am still learning here but why is this a bad idea as long as I keep it to a 4ohm load everything should be okay right or am I missing something here? -

Depending on how you wire it up if I run all 8 speakers I could wire 4 speakers to 1 channel at 4 ohms and the other 4 speakers to the other channel at 4 ohms. -
Hi guys I'm getting ready to do my first full system build and I'm looking to be clean and loud.My question is would I be able to run 2 ssa gcons safely off a crescendo bc 3500d or should I just go ahead and buy the icons?
-
That's very true it seems like all my projects are always ongoing and never get finished.
-
Thanks for the input.

I'm just kind of tossing around ideas at the moment trying to get some input before I go buying a bunch of stuff then end up changing my mind down the road.
-
No I was hoping to keep it at a 2 ohm load for now then having the 3500 would give me room to expand later down the road.
-
That's what I was hoping to hear I think I found the next set of subs that's going to be going in my explorer. Thanks for the input guys!

Hi guys I was wondering if the ssa gcon series were comparable to sundown sa line I know I've seen people putting double the rated power to the sundowns just wondering if the ssa's could handle this abuse or not?
-
yea I wasn't really planning on pushing more than what their intended to run I just wanted to know if they were built well and able to handle some abuse. I was asking because I seen these subs loved how beastly they look and was hoping they could perform as well as they look that built in usa sticker is a big plus also.

Thanks for all the welcomes you guys!

There are quite a few people on here from Mi. I live up in atlanta MI and it kind of sucks because there are no shows or comps and very few people that even have systems. Was hoping to find some other people to get together and give demos and just hang out. I plan on redoing my whole system this year with my tax return can't wait for that.

That's awesome and exactly what I was hoping to find some knowledgeable people to talk to share stories and info sounds like I found what I was looking for. I live in northern MI and haven't met any other bassheads other than a couple young kids in town running their walmart specials. I used to live in mid MI and had a friend that owned a car stereo shop in town so I was always hanging around meeting people and learning everything I could. I miss that and was hoping to find some friends on here.
