    SSA Evil vs Fi SP4

Exactly my point, there are quite a few people around here curious about the same thing that's why I made the thread.

    SSA Evil vs Fi SP4

-sighh- alright, now that I think about it I remember that. But can someone at least tell me the goals of the SP4 in comparison to the Evil? I will probably end up getting the evil, but still.

    SSA Evil vs Fi SP4

... Obviously, you already said that.. I never said that or even acted like I assumed that if the baskets are same the subwoofer is the same.. Tons of subs share parts including baskets. but what makes the Evil better? thats the question Or even if its not better, how much different will they sound? and as far as goals go which ways do the SP4 and evil lean? I'm trying to decide which one would fit me best. Maybe I'm not getting that across Idk.

    SSA Evil vs Fi SP4

Okay, explain? I am probably getting a new car soon (keeping the bronco) sometime this month so I am trying to decide which subwoofer to buy for it. so details would be great.

    really... AGAIN!

Always found squares subs to be interesting, I like the fact that you can put them so close together and make it look like a solid wall of just sub.

Box/Sub advice for 95 Ext. cab Silverado

You wont get that direct sound, if you point a driver almost at you and then point it at the ground, you can tell a difference. Different type of sound, its not super pronounced but it depends on what your looking for. If you want it to look really clean and hidden then Id say go that route, but I personally prefer the sub facing up/at you.
  15. Agreed, the new Incriminator 20.1 looks very nice also just to throw that in there, if you want to look at those brands.

    Alt really hot

The Diehard gold in there is really old, but I am waiting to buy the 2 diehard platinums I'm planning on using a little later. I doubt It's working very hard, I'm barely pulling amps off of my system atm. Doesn't matter what you are equipment you are running. If your battery is shot it will kill your alt given enough time. Its not that bad it stays around 12.5 and overall my voltage goes a little above 13 with them both connected, and I seriously doubt it would do anything to the alt.. Edit: anyway I don't need anymore responses to this thread I found the issue, and know how to fix it. I just need time atm. Way to be a dick after we tried to help you. Thanks for the responses, Not trying to be a dick. :/ just no reason for the thread any longer, Everything is fine now. I was saying that so people don't speculate and waste there time since I found the short which is what was causing all the strange issues. For those who are not satisfied with that my plans for my upgrades are all clear in my head now. but I know my batteries are fine, my voltage barely drops even without the car on. I plan on replacing the diehard gold anyway just to be sure.

    Alt really hot

My mechman 260 is getting blazingly hot, is this normal? Thinking its a ground issue, I have it attached to a battery which is attached to the motor. Any ideas?

    Old Rockford 15s

My friend Jhovani had 2 15in subwoofers in a blowthrough in his 1999 F150. Jhovani came over today and he asked me if we could put his box from his bed into his cab. So that's what we did.. Unscrewed the box from the mounts, cut the wire and freed the box. This build was done probably 10 years ago so the truck and the subs weren't in the greatest condition. The rattling from the truck and subs was horrendously loud from the interior and exterior. He always told me he thought he had some old 15in JBLs over the last year or so, which JBL makes some high quality subs so I figured they pretty nice. But it turned out they were the old Rockford Power HX2 15s as stated on the dustcap. Anyways once we got them in the cab and rerouted the wires we noticed the passenger side sub, was what was rattling like crazy. Originally when I heard his subs in the blowthrough it sounded like maybe one of them was blown. I touched the dustcap and the rattling stopped, I figured it was the dustcap was loose at first, but realized it stopped when I also touched cone itself. I tested if it was the cap by taping up the cap (typically from what Ive experienced, if its the cap the rattling will stop). The rattling continued, so I decided it would be best if we took the woofer out and see if their is any internal damage visible. As soon as we lifted it up out of the box I realized this is Rockford's big 4in Voice coil sub. Pretty cool as I have never seen a 4in coil before. I looked over the sub, and initially didn't notice any damage, I lifted up the coil with the cone, and that made the issue very apparent. The spider was almost completely detached except where the leads were. I took some simple green cleaner, and cleaned the edge, and the rest of the sub as they were dusty. Took some stripper and me and Jhovani rubbed the edge to try and clean and remove some of the old fragments of glue and such. We then used some epoxy and coated the edges, we had a little trouble with that, because the tip had broken when I opened the epoxy. As I was putting the epoxy on it was coming out the sides and everywhere, we lost most of the first tube... We got most of the spider epoxied on, but there was a couple places namely by the leads where we didn't get enough, but I was out. Currently we are waiting overnight for it to dry, and see if this fixes most of the rattling. On a very good note the coils were shiny and looked brand new, which I thought was pretty impressive since he has hammered on these 15s for years. Thought I'd post the little experience, since it was kind of an unexpected thing today. Some of you may find it interesting. I don't know too much about older subwoofers, namely these, so you guys will have to give me a history lesson on these and your opinions Sorry also if this in the wrong section, I figured this one would be fine though.

    Alt really hot

Found the issue I think... There was some random old wire jammed up by the alt shorting out on the block and alt. I have no idea how it didn't do more damage, the wire was burnt to hell though. Hopefully all my electronics are ok including the alt.. My question is how did the fuse not blow earlier..

    Alt really hot

Well I just moved my second battery to my center console, and ever since then my bass has been harsh sounding. Has a different tone to it, I guess that it is a symptom of the new alt and change in battery location. I'm about to recheck connections right now.

    Alt really hot

I realize its hot in the engine bay, but my old alternator just got warm not HOT. The 13.3 was from the posts of the alternator itself. rechecked while revving it up a lot higher (3000rpms), and it went all the way up to 14.2 and there was a pop and one of my fuses blew... so all of that seems odd considering those fuses are rated 275a @ 32volts. I'm going to mess around with it a bit, and try a different ground replace the fuse, see what happens.

The entire alt is hot. Also I actually just checked voltage and I'm only getting 13.3 from it Wtf. It was working fine when I first hooked it up.
