2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)

I was actually quite surprised when I was listening to a few test songs, the 6.5s have a decent amount of midbass and bass. The doors are sealed very well from the factory. The plan was to put the 8s on the other two channels of the leviathan, with the same crossover settings from the 6.5s. I was going to do the ac10s, but looking at the response the 8s, it can be crossed over much higher. I realize to add more speakers is to add complications like cancellation. But atm I'm testing out a few drivers, and if need be I will only use an 8 or 10 in place of the 6.5 and the morel 378 can be crossed over basically wherever I need it to be with any of those woofers. So far I am impressed with the quality of aurum cantus. The 6.5s on the leviathan at 8ohms don't seem to reach overexcursion even when I turn off the highpass filter completely. If you have a better solution/recomendation, I am open to change. Better solution is to not mix drivers. It will suck. Without more info, I can't help. Umm, no. Faital blows donkey IB. Terrible idea. Stop reading wherever you are getting your ideas from.Hmm well I thought you wanted a qts around .6 for infinite baffle. My ideas are from what I've read over these forums and just searching through raw driver stores. All I want is decently flat response that will match up at around 3.1k or 4k with a slope of 12to18db as the morels sound best crossed between here. That gives a little room either way. The mids will be crossed at 63hz with a 24db slope. Price range is 100-200$. The door has a pod that protrudes then opens up into the door interior. I can fit an 8 in the door without too much modification. Not sure what else you'd need to know. It's not like I'm going for extreme volume for the mids and highs, so I think one 8 in each door will be enough. Also I guess to note is I can put as much as 380w at 8ohm to these speakers. If your going to help actually give me something to work with instead of just knocking down my ideas. I'm always open to new information.

Thinking of trying out a Faital Pro 8in. Response seems about right, good power handling, and can be used in IB. A bit pricey, but if anyone has experience with them, please comment.

working on POP an POS material

I like it, but I think you could make it slightly more unique to really set it off.

I know, whats up with that?? That's as far as Ive gotten, I need to tidy things up as far as wiring underneath the amps, and finish the beauty plate for the deck (gaps). So far I only have the aurum cantus 6.5s in the doors as the door panels will be a whole new project. The morel 378s are in the stock highs location in the dash for now. Need to run all the wires through amp board, and plasti both the battery holder and the amp board. Eventually I plan on getting another pm1. The false floor will hopefully be in the back in the next few weeks, I have really been thinking about doing a ported box for the 18s but I'm still not positive. But for now Ive got some very decent sound going.

    SSA Evil GUTS!!!!!

Whats up with all the photos of dead evils lately? Mainly issues with the leads its seems. I thought the sewn leads would work better than the sandwiched leads of the Sp4, but it seams they burn up or break either way for both subs.

Haha thanks man, Ive been looking forward to doing this build for a long time. Been planning exact equipment for months Pics very soon, Pulling the dash apart tomorrow to see how difficult the deck is going to be to install. Should be pretty sexy when I'm finished I'm hoping so! Although Ive never heard the SP4s sealed, so the first box going in will be around 10 cubes sealed. Try it out, and see the response I get.

    THE EPIC MAGNETAR THREAD

That's an intense looking woofer you have there, looking forward to seeing it in action.

    Bad news for the IA80.1

I sense you starting to get into the troll realm considering you already said you had no reason to post on this thread anymore... I see all of this as pointless bickering at this point, the point has been proven for all parties.

    Bad news for the IA80.1

I'm not saying the price is unreasonable, Its just more then most people would invest in a single piece of equipment. You could buy a decently running older car for the price of the 80.1

    Bad news for the IA80.1

The issue I see is the fact that they are expensive enough that not a lot of people are going to have them so any naysayers that actually have the 80.1 are going to make a bigger impact then a amp in which a lot of people have. I'm sure the amp is quality and its user error, but like I said even just one or two can get the bad rep going pretty strong with something like this.

    A sharper alternative tweeter

It sounds fine on that part of the song with only the one tweeter hooked up... So they seem to be canceling each other out on those high frequencies. I'm going to double check the phase and such, see if its as simple as that.
  15. I have a few morel 378s. While they sound very nice, flat, loud, and can be crossed over quite low, they don't have the high end extension and sharpness that I have come to like. I tried out the ft1s which are quite the opposite in sound to the 378s. They do have the high end extension and sharpness, but are definitely lacking highly in the lower end and are also a little peaky. I've looked around at pro audio to home audio, super tweeter to regular tweeter, but have not found a hard dome tweeter that has relatively flat response, around 100-200w rms, 90-100db sensitivity, 4-8ohm. They will be run in either a set or two sets actively, on the zed leviathan. Cost really isn't an issue, but nothing too crazy. Any recommendations are helpful, even to looking in another direction. Thanks

    A sharper alternative tweeter

they are pointed head level slightly toward the centerHave you tried playing with the aiming? Horn loaded tweeters are going to be very sensitive on the top end to aiming as their off-axis response falls very quickly. Not a lot, but the dispersion seems pretty wide. The Ft1s have a much narrower horn, and were pointed in the same way. Ill play with that tomorrow and see what happens. I looked at the part of the evanescence song that the issue is most noticeable in, and it seems to be in the 8100-17500 range. Ill try equalizing that area up a little bit and see if there is an improvement.

    A sharper alternative tweeter

The only thing that makes me consider another tweeter then the morel 378 is there is small things in songs, like I barely hear some of the background sounds, clicks and hiss, that gives the song it's ambiance in quite a few songs, it feels like it's missing something, and I can't quite pinpoint it. I hear it clearly in the ceramic domes I had previously, and the ft1s. I tried playing with the eq but didn't like much of what I changed, preferred to leave it flat.

That is because you are picking pointless ratings for shopping. Ignore the impedance, power handling and sensitivity. In a tweeter you really shouldn't have to care about any of the above. The first question is always WHERE. Have to know those limitations first. Also helpful to know what you are blending them with, where they are mounted and what the limitations of the mid are (assuming you have them already). Considering you have the Morel's and don't like them, it would be good to know what settings you are using and such. And more detail on what they don't do. "High end extension" can mean greatly different things to many people and I would consider "sharpness" and absolute negative, but I bet in your description it is something else entirely. I only put the impedance and such so that someone didn't recommend something completely off, but yes I understand that. I am happy so far with the aurum cantus ac165/50c2c, crossed at 80hz to 4khz, don't remember the slope atm on either though. The tweeters are crossed at 4k 12db slope. The Eq is completely flat for all of this. The headunit is an pioneer 80prs, and the amp is the leviathan. The mids seem to do well on the low end 40-60hz and high end but midbass 80-150hz seems to be their weak point, but I'm not a big fan of real loud midbass anyway. They are in the stock door location, no other speakers in the vehicle other then subwoofer. I had the tweeters when testing (both the 378s and ft1s) in pods in the corners of the dash/bottom of a pillars. Which I realize isn't a good place for the tweeters but I'm trying to find the right tweeter before cutting up the doors more. My plan is either for the a pillars or doors, probably doors just because everyone recommends that. Also I was thinking of adding a 10in aurum cantus mid when I glass the doors. Which I'm guessing you guys will shoot down pretty quick.

nice woofer, Ive been trying to convince a friend to buy one of these, mainly just so I can hear it. side note: That coil looks very dark.

    BTL's N3, N2, UFO, triple stack, double

Had a friend who had a BTL ufo 18 on a AQ2200 at .5, in a 9.8 cube box tuned to 26. Sounds odd.. large box.. tuned low.. But he peaked around 39 and it was the loudest single 18 setup I've ever heard. He did end up blowing the first coil though, and then the leads shortly after on the second coil.

    bc3500d current draw/electrical needs

I have a mechman 260 and 3 diehard platinums pm1s and I get 0 to .1 voltage drop full tilt. With two I had .3-.5 I am running around 5-6k. (crescendo 3500, and Zed leviathan) Batteries make a world of a difference, so I'm definitely agreeing with whats been said.
