I agree with this as well. 1 15 bl in the proper enclosure would get nice and loud. As far as kicker amps over AQ. just my preference I have never owned a AQ but I have owned kicker amps very solid amps that are under rated and perform very well
-
oh and just my opinion I prefer the kicker amp to the aq
-
just order your subs in dual 2 ohm and wire in series and then parallel then you will have a 2 ohm load to the amp
-
Are you tring to maximize your amp? if you just want to keep running 400 watts @ 4 ohm's just wire the IXL in series and you will have a 4 ohm load.
-
you do not tune a sealed enclosure. I would run 0/ guage to a dist. then to 4 guage each amp.
-
All depends on how they are wired. 2)4ohm single voice coil subs wired in parallel then to your amp presents a 2ohm load to your amp. then they are sharing the 480 watts or 240 per sub.

So that sounds like a solid front stage. I am still looking for a head unit that will run active that I can afford. I was also thinking of running a RE AUDIO SR15D2 in a 2ft^3 sealed enclosure @ 4 ohms off of my tantrum 250.2 does anyone know if my tantrum 400.4 is active capable I know it has several crossover settings hi/low/band pass seperate for the front and rear.. if so this would save me some money
-
even if you could with those amps I wouldn't go with a BTL maybe a BL. the Eclipse XA 1000 puts out 480 @ 2ohms
-
lol sorry about that but it's not just a supreme it's a "oldsmobile cutlass supreme brougham" haha 307 V8 auto and all oringnal 82,000 miles as far as budget I will just save a little longer. I never heard either but have heard great reviews on both. so I am willing to give them a shot. {/quote} How does your deck have 10" of depth? All G-bodies used 4x10s. My 85, 86, and 87 never had a deck that deep. Don't even think of messing with IB in these things unless you want to cut metal and remove seat material in rear. I've tried several times and it ends up being a bigger headache than anything else. Mine has 6x9s in the rear deck. but I agree I couldn't see a way of running infinate baffle. which is ok I will just run a nice sealed enclosure. just not sure what sub I will run now. any opinions?
-
How about a Mach5 MLI + Seas Neo./ sounds good whats the price? budget for fronts is around $100.00
-
Ok so I believe infiniate baffle is out. The deck is only 10 inches deep and from trunk floor to deck is only 13 inches. So I think I will just do a nice sealed enclosure. I have been seeing the Phoenix Gold RSD comps quite a bit as of late and they seem to be reasonably priced 90.00 shipped, what is your opinions running these active? I also heard alot of good things about the RSD-C 10 and at 120.00 shipped pretty good bargin. Opinions? comments Phoenix gold rsd 6.5" ran active off a Phoenix gold tantrum 400.4 Phoenix gold rsd-c 10 sealed off a Phoenix gold tantrum 250.2 and I still am looking for a good head unit to run active.

Lol 2 10s would be nice but that may be a little more than I can afford right now. I am going to take some measurements now and see where I stand

very nice car!! what motor? 3.5l or 5.7 since I didn't see any srt badges I don't think it's a 6.1, If it's a 5.7 they sound great with true duals. I have true duals on my hemi ram and it purrrrrrrs.

I may be able to fit a 12. Although I still haven't ruled out the 18. If I can figure out a way to seal the baffle to the rear deck and mount the 18 slanted. my only issue right now is that there is a torsion bar that is in the way on the deck. if that wasn't there sealing the rear deck off wouldn't be a problem. thats why I was considering the 10". I have 10 inches from the back of the seat to the torsion bar I could seal the baffle to the deck. or maybe I should just go with a nice sealed enclosure. On a side note I also have a Eclipse XA1000 amp that I could use 320 x 1 @ 4ohm 480 x 1 @ 2ohms

Just a little update I have the car mechanically fixed now but ran into some money problems so my plans are on hold for now. Hopefully I can scrape up some funds soon. I am however thinking of using a IXL 10 for the sub stage instead of a MJ 18. How do you guys think the IXL 10 would do infiniate baffle off of 300watts?
-
My opinion is 1 15" sub. reasons ..... (1.) there are alot of great choices of 15" subs that handle around 1000 watts (2.) in the proper enclosure they are very versitile from SQ to all out SPL. (3.) I like the choices you have for a single 15 1000 watts over the 2 12's @ 500 watts each. now these are only my opinions, and that is why I am running a single 15 right now

Ok I was wondering what is the typical impeadence rise of voice coils? this is why I ask. I have a TC sounds 3000 15 dvc 2 in a 3ft^3 sealed enclosure. I currently am running it in series to get a 4 ohm load on my Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1, This amp is 2 ohm stable. now I have read that at rest most coils are under their rating (please correct me if I am wrong) so does this mean when power is put to them that thay rise to their stated ohm? maybe totally dependent on manufacture? enclosure size? sealed? vented? my main question is is there a better way I should be wiring my sub to my amp? (or is this the best way) if I wired in parallel would I get a 1 ohm load or would it rise higher? Thanks Chad
-
thank you all for your information. when I started this thread I was trying to learn and to get the most out of my system. I have learned quite a bit. I still have my sub wired in series to my tantrum 1200.1 I have however built a vented box and was amazed at the output difference. once again thanks for all the information Chad

ok maybe I am just reading this wrong and if so feel free to ignore me......lol you state that the amps are not strapped. The way I am reading your wiring you are running the subs voice coils in parallel and then paralleing them together? is this correct? if so then you are running to both amps? I would not link each sub together and just run each sub in parallel to 1 amp. or if you do run the subs together I would strap the amps at a higher ohm load. I may have misread this and if so I am sorry .......just trying to help sorry I just reread your first post I missed the part where you had 4 subs. I was thinking you had 2 Chad

A big yes from me Chad

great review chad
-
so now the questions are what size and are they for sale.......lol Chad
-
how about a kicker 10L5 d2. you said she is looking for output over SQ. I installed one of these in a 1.8 cu ft ported to 34 hz, powered off of a cheap pioneer rated at 380 @ 4 and it is loud and still musical(somewhat) I picked it up for him new off of e-bay for 110.00 shipped just another option Chad
