4" coil option for BL Series

In to see how it gets pulled off. My understanding is 4" coils don't play well with 8" spiders, ahem "RE Destroyer".

The end all "what electrical system do i need" thread

Nice read. Reminds me of when people ask how big of a fuse do they need for X amp. The answer is in the wire.

    BTL N1 Video!

Effin cool. I'll take an 18" IB version to show off that motor in my setup.

    Infinitely Baffled The Do-Over. :P

Thanks. Pretty soon I'll clean up the wires and make a false floor/beauty trim so all you will see will be the faces of the amps and the MS8. The 18s are sweet. The impedance curve is on the high side so I'm a little underpowered to reach the full output of the subs. If I do go with bigger sub amps it'll kill the SQ, right now everything is balanced.

    Scosche RCA Audio "Y" Cable

Through out my audio adventures, every once and a while, I have encountered the need to split the audio signal to two inputs. There are occasions where I need A male RCA to two Female RCAs or vise versa. Either way I have come across a clever solution in an unlikely place, Walmart. For $4.50 I picked this up. This is what came in the package. Not exactly the "Y" adapters you were thinking of, huh. The rubber plug is used to block off the unused RCA jack. If you need a male RCA to two female RCAs then this would be your solution. If you need a female RCA to two male RCAs, then here you go. Not too shabby if you ask me.

    Infinitely Baffled The Do-Over. :P

I got a little work done on the ol creampuff this weekend. My old US Acoustics USB-4085s have made it back into my set up. One of the 4085 is powering the front Powerbass 3-1/2" co-axials and the rear MTX Thunder Axe 5-1/4" components. The other 4085 has been bridged and is powering the Peerless OEM 8" Mid-bass. These are my crossover settings so-far: Subs to Mid-Bass crossed at 60Hz at 12db/oct Mid-Bass to Mid-Range/Highs crossed at 500Hz at 24db/oct Rears hi-passed at 125Hz at 24db/oct Putting the amps in really woke up the system. I give the 8s the thumbs up if you have some power to feed them. I've been enjoying stuff like Spoon, REM, and Joan Osborne. At high levels you can feel it in the pant legs. They blend well with the subs. Still have some work to do like up the electrical, but so far I am happy with it. Here are some pics of the amps in place. Please excuse my wiring. Once I have everything worked out I'll make some nice RCAs and clean up the power wires. The crossover adjust-ability the MS8 provides has me spoiled. I am bummed the sub-sonic is limited at the low end to 20Hz. The nice thing is the slope is adjustable from 6db/oct to 24db/oct. Cruising IB style I have the sub sonic filter slope set at 6db/oct. The auto tune works like a champ and is very straight forward. The icing on the cake is the Logic7 processing. Turning the Logic7 processing on and having the listening position set to the driver puts the image right in front of the drivers seat. This is amazing from me because the drivers side 3 incher is blocked by the gauge cluster. The gauge cluster and the driver side window funnel the sound right at me. With out the MS8 I would have to bias the balance dramatically to the right speaker to get an even balance. At times I'd be at biased almost 80% to the right. The Mid-bass turned out great. Especially for the price, then again to make them work I had to sacrifice the door/door panel. Well see how long this last before I up and change it all again. Don't tell the wife I said that. Let me know what you think. Cheers.

    SEX!

I read that the roof of that car is made out of 1mm thick aluminum to keep weight down. Brings new meaning to: Don't slam the f@cking door!

New Sundown 8" Frame in the works

Since this is all being tooled up, and we are talking extreme excursion. Why not add fillets where the surround transitions to to the cone shape and where the surround transitions to the basket? Eliminating sharp corners would seem logical on flexible parts.

    Bill Murray in San Antonio

What's up everyone. It's another ho-hum Friday, so I thought I'd share my celebrity sighting of the week. Last night was my oldest daughter's first orchestra concert. Nothing fancy till look who I see sitting across the way. It's Bill Murray! Here is a better pic of the man with a direct line to Emma Stone's funny bone. Hilarious, I had just watch Zombieland earlier in the week. I've got to fess up. For those who did read the Topic Description, this isn't the real Bill Murray. This is just one of the dad's enjoying their child's performance. He told me he once got free coffee at a Starbucks for having the best costume once. Lol! Cool guy, didn't mind the attention. Got a celebrity sighting you like to share? Don't worry pics not required, we'll take your work for it.

    BTL-N1 pics

This sub is getting interesting. I've run 15" Avalanches before and am currently running 15" JBL GTi subs all in 3.5ft^3 tuned to 28Hz per sub. How do you think the BTL N1 will compare to these sub? If I can gain a little bit more out put belting out the lows and still sound good, I'd be interested in swapping my current wacky looking GTi's for some equally wacky looking N1's.

    Best Dealer Ever!!!!

Good looking shop. Nice selection of wheels. These are the places one can get a deal when talking cash.
  18. Here is what I did, taken from my build log. Here is the insert I'm using. This is what you get with IKEA furniture. You can buy them at Home Depot in 4 packs. I recommend ordering through Mc Master Carr. What 5 packs cost at Home Depot you can get a pack of a hundred through Mc Master Carr. All you do is drill the hole and thread them in with an allen wrench Viola! Nice threaded hole for a bolt. Hope this helps.

    93 Fleetwood Caddy build.

Great build. I lol when I saw these. The last time I saw joints this big was at the monster truck show. I cant imagine you using these in a Caddy.

    BTL-N1 pics

Cool I understand when you say: We design all of our parts in the wonderful 3-D modeling software Pro-Engineer. From there I program them using Pro-Manufacture. Many times I've wanted to chuck the computer in favor of pen and paper.

Thanks for sharing Scott. I know if push came to shove, one can program a CNC with a Big Chief Tablet and a crayon, but if you don't mind me asking. What software do you use to program your machines?

    Company truck?

Those little Nissan pick-ups with those Caddy rims look sweet. I'm all for looking cool with mix and match stock parts. Just recently I saw a lowered Magnum rolling on SRT8 Challenger 20" rims. Gorgeous.

    Infinitely Baffled The Do-Over. :P

It sounds good. Let me also say I'm only pushing them with 18 watts a piece. Once I get my amps back in I be able to crank them and hear what I've been missing. Currently I've got them crossed from 55Hz to 700Hz at 24db/oct. They are handling it well. I can wait to get my amps in. I just figure out how to mount all those amps, 2 US Acoustics USB-2150 and 2 US Acoustics USB-4085. Each one has a footprint of 16" by 9-1/2"
