Interesting, doing this on a lathe. I'm guessing standard face grooving tools don't have enough reach for the depth you're going. I see where you're getting at with the half circle tool to support the insert. Cool deal. I've experience my share of CAM software doing off things at times. I see it most when using a new post processor. A repetitive XY move in the CAM code gets deleted by the post processor and the post outputs a simultaneous XYZ move instead of the XY move followed by the Z move in the next line. It's either that or the 4th axis moves are opposite of what the machine actually moves. Cool stuff. Time to get back to it. Can't wait to see the new stuff.

For milling slots I've had good success using a Trochoidal Milling technique. Seco Tools has a nifty Excel calculator that will get you started. Trochoidal Mill Calculator To cut a 3.25" bore in 1" steel I use a Corkscrew Milling technique. I don't have an easy calculator for that one. What I do is I use the thread milling feature in my CAM software. That should get you in the ball park. Here is a nice read from Ingersoll on corkscrew milling. Corkscrew Milling by Ingersoll If you need g-code programs let me know.

Anyone here from Albuquerque, NM
onebadmonte replied to Optimus_Prime's topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
I haven't seen anybody claim origins from those parts. I used to party up there back in the day (circa '97). Does Central Ave in down town still get good? I had a dream come true at a place called Knockouts (strip club), if that place is still around. My wife's cousin lives up there with her husband and kids. We've never visit them though. Back in 95 and 96 I went to the Lowrider shows at Tingley Coliseum. Those are my Alburquerque stories. Got any to share? -

I say a 12Hz tapped horn with the 24 Anarchys. -
I run my mid-bass from 60Hz up to 500Hz. When using subs it's finding how high they'll play and still sound good. Don't think that you'll be able to match this sub directly to a tweeter, you'll need some sort of mid-range.

"New" JBL GTQ200!
onebadmonte replied to Frostedflakejake's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I say mid to late 90's these were out at the same time the Acoustic Power Logic amps were out. -
If you don't like the BTL N2 you can go with the Ascendant Audio Mayham. From my understanding it's a fully loaded 1st Gen BTL (tripple stack).

It's a heck of an amp. I doubt I'll go to SBN. I haven't started my build yet, I doubt I'll have it done in time. Plus I haven't planned financially to go anyways. Once I get it going I'll let you know so we can plan for a little get together. Oh well, what ever the reason we now have 10k amps for the masses. Long live capitalism.

Just got it. It's crazy big. Enjoy the pics. Yes, I am a tool. Here it is next to my Cresendo 3KWP

MSRP was $10K. I think they just want to close out what ever they have. Mine has a date of 2009

Check your amp make sure it is functioning properly.

Congrats. My garage has a capacity of 2 cars.

Lucky that you got off so easily. Then again with tint on the windshield you can't expect not to get haggled by the man. -
Here it is boys and girls. My first post with pics. So I got these floorstanders back in 96. I was just out of high school, and had no clue. I wanted a home theater with bass. No better way of getting that then with big woofers, so with my pay check I did just that. I bought the biggest ones Montgomery Wards had, that I could afford. Long story short I was satisfied with my purchase. Fast forward a decade and a half. I'm out of my parents house in my own with a wife and kids. I look in my parents shed and look what I find, my old Jensens. I think to myself, these were the sh!t back then, let's hook them back up. I've got a new setup, all the latest and greatest. I hook them up, pop in some blah, blah, blah, and disappointment. So, let me show you what I did. Here she is in all here dusty glory. Remember only one is pictured, but I modified both. What came out and what's going in. Ignore the date on the pic, I'm embarrassed by how long it took me to post this. The actual modification of the cabinet. The finished product. 2 4" flared ports, aprox 3.5ft^3. The tune, around 28Hz. Both powered by a Behringer EP2500. The sound? Just how I remembered it. Don't worry about the mids and highs, they're of the sealed back variety and not connected. Enjoy.

What's up everybody. It's been a while since I've given this thread some love. This is a special thread for me, as it is the first thread I posted pics in. Anyways, I thought I'd post some pics of my new center channel. Yes, it's in the fireplace. Ooow, it's floating Sure is nice having access to a CNC plasma cutter. One last pic.

All this drama to get your sub and no pics. Fail. j/k. Congrats on your new sub. Forget the pics and go straight to video.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. Here are some gut pics for all those who are into those things. Get a load of the power and ground inputs. I'm going to have as much $ in the electrical to power this thing as I do in the amp itself. Some scale shots of the transformers. The chip with the red dot in this pic is the brains of this operation. DSP FTW!
