A Suburban A Warhorse and a pair of Double Dees
onebadmonte replied to onebadmonte's topic in Build Logs
I got my screens in. The alpine NAV-1 is okay. To be honest I'm not too impressed with the graphical interface. My wife has a Pioneer 920Bt in her car, I like it better. Oh well, what is nice is that I can play a movie to the rear screens and listen to the radio at the same time. That way the little ones can enjoy a flick through headphones while I keep my sanity through music on long road trips. I used "The Black Box BB-R3" bypass from buysellauction on ebay. It was cheap and USA made so I figured what the heck. It works and I couldn't be happier. Any ways, here are some pics. Here is a close up of the Alpine NAV-1 -

When ever you are ready let me know and I'll get you the info on where to get them. There is enough room in the spare tire area for the 8 that I'll be running. Once I have something drawn up I'll post it for review. I've got the rear A/C unit behind the passenger side rear panel, and the drivers side has the fuel filler neck screwing up the show. No win there. -

Yeah, there is a local distributor here in San Antonio. Got a semi good deal, and a warranty to boot. -

I am. I've been collecting this crap for over a year and then some. That's what I'm thinking. I'm just a little jumpy about hanging 650lbs worth of batteries and having it hold. -

Here are a few pics of how I got the components into the q-logic panels. I didn't have a 4"+ hole saw, so I improvised. I used a smaller saw to cut out the center. I sketched out the profile of the hole I needed to cut, then I scored the plastic with a blade. I used to some pliers to break off the scored pieces of plastic leaving me with a semi-nice large diameter hole. I decided to make a backing ring to secure the mid to the panel. Here is the ring I cut at work using a CNC plasma cutter. I am using rivnut style inserts to mount the driver. Here is the installed product. More on the way. -
So what modeling software do you recommend? Any tips or how to's, to go along with that?

Bingo! I'll be doing a semi-active 3-way front stage off a Crescendo 1000c4. Two 6.5s per door behind the factory grills. -
I guess if the voltage is high enough it'll make the 20k watts off limited amperage.

Holy smokes, I can't believe this thread actually happened. It's as if my mind can't believe what my eyes read.
-
Opps, now it works. Bahahahahh, silly Einstein.
-
No video.
-
That's going to be some front stage. Have you thought about running waveguides/horns like the kind Image Dynamics sells?

Lets get this Friday rolling with some laughs. I came across this on another forum, thought I'd share it here. Tailored to all, most embarrassing for iphone owners who have fallen victim. Read, enjoy, share your favorites. o_o Damn You Autocorrect

In my quest for big sounds on a little funds I have noticed that it's all in the details. Today we look at 1/0 gauge ring terminals. Two for five bucks isn't going to break the bank, but when you're looking to buy 25 pairs, economies of scale need a second look. So this is what I found: Ring terminals at Amazon Now time for some pics. Some specifics. The eyelet measures 7/16"ID and just under 1" OD. The opening for the wire is at 1/2". The overall length is 2". Hope this helps, thanks for looking.

No, it's not. Thanks for the clarification, and for quoting me out of context. I guess me saying, "I've visualize it as connecting a battery directly to the speaker." wasn't obvious enough that it was my way of visualizing what is happening with a clipped signal. No biggie, just thought I'd clarify a bit as well.

My two favorites. and this one for the double fail. o_o

Dual stock alt.

I don't know what truck you have. I'm assuming a Chevy since you said the alt is from a Lumina. I would say sell it and upgrade to a GM large case AD244 alt. Those are rated for 100amp at idle and 145amps peak. -
I've visualize it as connecting a battery directly to the speaker. That clipped/squared wave at it's peak is direct current. A double "A" battery is going to do much to a subwoofer, but connect your car battery to your sub and watch the sparks fly.

I need an amp 5-6k at 2 ohm for daily

Try a kicker warhorse. -
Bummer hearing that. Glad you got it worked out though.

If you cut off one side of that box to expose the backside of the cone you can use it as a ripole sub or mid-bass like this guy. Only not as nice. Ripole Subwoofer Wonk, wonk, woooonnnnk!
